another field trip review– this ended up being a great trip that all the children really enjoyed. the location is set WAY, WAY out so it took us 45 minutes to get there(and we were already starting from a south charlotte location) so be prepared for a drive. once we arrived, we were greeted by the staff and led into the area with the horses. some of the students painted horses(as in: put paint onto a horse’s body) which they liked. six students at a time got to ride the horses for a 15 minute ride around the grounds(led by guides). throughout the day, we were able to walk around and see the many other horses in the stalls. unfortunately, this trip was planned for the hottest day of the year so being outside for over three hours became tortuous. we brought water from school but i wish there had been some water available on site. this is a great field trip for about 20 – 25 children but we had 30 kids that day so it took quite a while for everybody to get a chance to ride. when we got back to school, many of the students pretended to be horses for the rest of the afternoon so the experience really made an impression on them. overall, most of the problems we had on the trip were no fault of honeysuckle farms(still wish they had water for the kids, though) and i would recommend it for summer camps or class field trips.
