I have been a loyal Gap customer for years. I love their jeans, well made, fairly priced, good fit for me and along with their other clothing very current fashion wise. I shop here at least once a season mostly to fill on new arrivals and staples like sweater and T shirts. The store can get a bit disheveled, even though you always see their sales help folding and restocking. Their strong suit is not customer service, someone can help you find your size or point you in the right direction and the cashiers are always friendly and efficient. Note: if your register receipt has a survey, do it. For a few minutes of your time you will get a 20% discount on any full priced item. I also got another coupon for $ 50 off for every $ 100 you spend on a future purchase. Good deal.

Got in, found what I needed, got out. I was the 4th customer in the check out line with only one cashier, but at least he was friendly by the time I got to them. I probably could have been conned into more of their sale items had someone asked me if I needed help with anything, but nobody did. That said, I suppose I didn’t hang around long enough to give them the chance.

Gap has lost its luster in my opinion. The merchandise doesn’t appear to be exciting or interesting or evolved much from what it was like in the past. I’ve been coming to this particularly Gap for years and came back on a trip home yesterday. No one was working the dressing room when my sister and I wanted to try stuff on so whatever empty dressing room we could find, we used. She ended up purchasing a tank top on sale. I was a little dismayed at how many people were working behind the register. All but one had their backs toward us as we approached but luckily, someone quickly turned around and helped us. Instead of swiping my sister’s credit card, the cashier scanned it under a counterfeit detection system. There was nothing particularly awful about the experience but we didn’t get much in terms of greeting when compared to other stores in the mall yesterday. Combined with that and no one working in the dressing room when we arrived or asking if we needed help as we were walking out of the dressing room, I can safely say I’ve experienced better.

This is has to be one of the few stores I know within 10 miles from home, and It Is huge! You will find baby, women and men clothes, including workout and sleep wear. Two Stars here. Of course, the weekends are the worst to shop. The store was a mess and I guess this acceptable but not really. For instance, this past holiday, Labor Day, not one sales associates on the floor approach me for help. No good. I guess all were on at cash registers. When I was ready to pay the line was almost out the door. It did move relatively quickly though. Star here. At the counter, this young male was not inviting or pleasant rather grumpy and unsociable. No star. Retail is not fun, I know, however, sales associates and staff must understand in creating a lasting positive impression of themselves, the purchase but most importantly the store, Gap.

This is my favorite Gap due to the fact that the Willowbrook location has more styles, and sizes in stock compared to Garden State Plaza, and Short Hills. The Garden State Plaza Gap is a joke and the Short Hills one is much better than GSP but not as good Willowbrooks selection. Sales associates are friendly and helpful. It does get messy on the weekends but then again which mall doesn’t.

«Hey, did you know that on Tuesdays, you can save an extra 10% if you use your Banana Republic or Gap card?» I had no idea when I walked into Willowbrook’s Gap today(a Tuesday!).* I was considering the workout clothes in their Gap Body section, when a kind saleswoman told me that the sale items throughout the store were on sale. Who knew? I grabbed a marked-down exercise hoodie & some workout capris, and walked into the main store. Alas … the employees on the other side of the wall were not as friendly as the woman in Gap Body. They seemed oblivious to the customers. Two employees were working on a tshirt display; I circled them, trying to get a good look at the shirts — a collaboration between Gap and Threadless — and all I got were a pair of dirty looks. Well then! Off to pay for my pants. The register was left unattended for several minutes(as I waited on line with another customer). «OMG!» we heard from behind us, «You should’ve yelled for me!» We would have, if we saw any employee anywhere nearby. Whatevs. I’m not in a rush today. She ran over to the register, rang me up, and informed me of this wonderful Tuesday bonus sale. Gap, you confuse me. I may be back. And if I am, you can bet it’ll be on a Tuesday. __________ * Disclaimer: I am not a regular Gap customer, save their workout gear. I feel like after Gap’s heyday(remember«Mellow Yellow?»), they downgraded their quality & became too«basic» for my taste. The clothes always felt a bit itchy, and faded quickly. Except for the workout clothes. Those are nice.
