When you want product knowledge, ridiculously huge selection, and fair prices, look no further. I first came across G.I. Surplus a couple of years ago, when I wanted to replace my dad’s Vietnam-era jump boots that had been lost in a fire. The two guys working there asked if I needed help and that’s pretty much what I said to them. That, and«they were black». After a little back-and-forth, one of them climbed up in to the rafters and produced exactly what I was looking for, in the exact size I was looking for. When I went to pay, they said there was some kind of waterproofing goop that was good, but they were out. If I came back a week later, they’d give me some for free. True to their word, I came back a week later with my dad(who was beyond delighted with the boots), and they remembered me and that they offered the waterproofing stuff. Meanwhile, while my dad was browsing, the guys pointed out what was«crap from the movies» and what was legit. They carry genuine surplus, MilSpec reproductions, and… well… «crap from the movies», so their knowledge is absolutely stellar. I don’t mind saying that I would have gladly paid twice the price on those boots for my dad, because the knowledge they had was invaluable. I never would have found them on my own, even though my Google-fu is strong. But, I still cross-checked prices after I made the purchase, and I was within ten bucks of the going price on eBay. Keeping in mind, if I was off on the size, we were welcome to come back for and exchange — and that free waterproofing stuff works so well, those boots look damn near new after hundreds of miles of parades and casual wear. Just a couple of days ago, I decided I needed a coat, and remembered one of the guys saying how they carried everything up to 8X. Being both big and tall, my first stop was G.I. Surplus, and sure enough, their selection was excellent. I walked out with an awesome M65 jacket with a liner. It was within $ 3 of the cheapest price I could find online. There’s no need to comparison shop. Their prices are better than fair. Their service is better than excellent. If you need outerwear, camping /survival gear, and general«surplus stuff», you won’t find a better place.

G.I. Surplus of Wayne has been around for the past 15 years. They are an Army-Navy surplus store that carries a very large selection of outdoor apparel, camping equipment, and military artifacts. You name they got it, and if they don’t have it, the sales staff will special order it for you. I have several friends who are into camping and hiking during the summer months. They are regular patrons of this store, and all have nothing bad to say about it and give G.I. Surplus two thumbs up. You will too once you visit this place, and they do a brisk mail order business as well.
