I’ve been there now 3 times and each time was delighted with the overall experience. Great service, good food, and value.

Excellent spot, glad it is in Wayne. 1) Came here for lunch, got the spicy pork. It was good. 2) The appetizers here are excellent, the Korean fried dumplings and kimchi scallion pancakes. 3) The service was excellent.

Great atmosphere and so much closer and easier to get to then going to Fort Lee. Nice selection of food and much flavor. The steamed egg though could have used a bit more flavor but yet still good. Service is excellent and quick service. Had the bim bop and Soondubu and both excellent

Best Korean food I’ve had outside of NYC. Very fast service too. Wouldn’t mind if they turned down the volume on the K-Pop a little bit, though.

Finally a place in Wayne that is not another Italian or sushi. Pleasant, modern dining room, very friendly and helpful(albeit English challenged) staff, and excellent food, including great mandoo(fried dumplings), nice banchan selection, tasty tofu soup.

This is a true«hidden gem» in Wayne! The location may not be ideal(in a tiny and not very occupied strip mall near the train station), but once you walk in, you wouldn’t care! This place is BYOB, NOMSG, No GM-soybean! Also, as others have noted, it does not have table-top bbq as other Korean restos might. As many have already written, the restaurant is clean, bright, with about 12 tables, so although it may appear small, it can actually accomodate many. Went on a Sunday eve and the place was always at least ½full w/families and couples. The staff is indeed friendly/helpful and attentive — but not overly so. The menu is very clear in food descriptions and most listings are accompanied by pictures(in color!) so even if you’re not sure what the words mean, the pictures help. Apps ordered: Goon Man Doo(pan fried dumplings(vegetable)), Kim Chi Pajeon(pancakes w/kimchi), we also received a FREE app of the steamed egg casserole!; Entrees: BulGoGi(unfortunately, all done in the kitchen as stated above), and BiBimBob. MORE than enough of all of this for two people to share(we brought home ½ of each entry and ½ of the pancake). Once order was placed, all the sides/condiments were brought out — note, they are not«appetizers» as someone else had written, but rather items to go along w/the entrees(we had 6 different small dishes + small bowl of tofu soup: excellent!). Very reasonably priced — espeically for the amount of food you recieve. Looking forward to going back, or even placing take-out!

I HATE tofu but my wife loves it. Over the years I’ve forced myself to eat it to accommodate her. We found this place on Unilocal as we were coming home. After hearing her sigh and getting the look when I told her I’d rather go to a diner I gave in. The staff was attentive and informative. They served with an array of dishes that included kimchi, cole slaw, sausage and a couple of others. It was late and we didn’t want anything to heavy. We ordered the scallion pancakes as an appetizer and tofu soups. I really enjoyed the soup. The tofu took on the flavor of the vegetable broth which was very good. We will be back whenever my wife has a tofu craving.

Classic Korean Tofu was very good. Nice creamy texture and decent broth, still not up to par with Fort Lee but very good. Wide range of spice especially for the hardcore. The menu has more items than your traditional tofu house. Great friendly service and parking could be tough at times due to the small lot.

Solid soondubu. Glad there is one closer to Montclair now. I still favor SGD’s crispy rice in stone bowl in East Hanover, but this place is closer to my stomping grounds. Milder in flavor and feels more homemade, for lack of a better word. The service was really friendly and they gave us a steamed egg casserole to try on the house. The restaurant itself is modern, bright, and clean even though the curb appeal of this unassuming strip mall in this area of Wayne may suggest otherwise. We also had the seafood pancake which is doughier in texture than I would like, but that didn’t stop us from polishing it off. The spicy level is on the conservative side. I ordered mild, and barely tasted anything spicy, and I have a low tolerance for spicy food. As if all other places now, they serve kalbi but at an exorbitant price. I would come back here.

Nice Korean spot in Wayne. Happy that there is a Korean place in the area and don’t have to drive to Ridgewood or Fort Lee. Place is clean and food is good! Wait staff are nice.

We went here because of other Unilocaler’s recommendation and they had decent reviews. It was a small place about 8 – 12 tables so its rather a small place. The waitress was nice to show us the menu, it wasn’t a big menu at all. It had the typical Korean items on its menu. After decided we ordered the Bulgogi entrée with rice and the Jap Chae noddles while my wife ordered the spicy seafood soup. Can’t comment on the soup but the Bulgogi tasted fine along with the noddles. It had a nice favor along with the preparation of the food. They had the typical Korean side dishes of Kimchi, fish cakes, and pickled cabbage. It was good service and food but I felt it was over priced for the food. 23 for the Bulgogi and 19 for the noodles was kind of pricey. The soup was average 12 dollars. They have lunch specials that is cheaper so go during lunch. I gave them 4 stars because the food was overpriced for dinner.

There is no good Korean food in Montclair, so where to go nearby if you don’t want to go to Ft. Lee? Look no longer. Went to Mr. Tofu House in Wayne last night. Fresh, delicious, and courteous service. The BBQ pork is delicious! Great Tofu soup and the usual array of delicious appetizers. Check out Mr Tofu house, impressive, affordable and delicious Korean fare.

Thanks Unilocaler for introducing this gem to me. Love Korean food! It’s a small restaurant located in a strip area between subway and Japanese restaurant with parking available. The service was friendly. Our waitress took her time going over the menu with us and recommended some non spicy dishes that are popular amongst customers esp. what kids like to eat. For starters, we ordered fried pork and noodle dumplings. Then, the waitress brought us all the knickknack dishes such as calamari, Kim chi, fish patty, egg casserole, spicy pickled cucumbers. Free refills if you want so just ask! For main course, we had jap chae, which is potato noodles with veggies and beef stir fried with soy sauce. We also ordered their beef bulgogi served on hot sizzling skillet. I had also order seafood tofu soup. There are different kinds of tofu soup. You can order pork, beef, seafood, vegetable, or Kim chi soup… etc. There are 5 level of spice list: plain, mild, regular, hot, danger. When placing the soup order, you’ll need to tell the waitress how spicy you want the soup. Overall, the food was pricey but delicious. All 3 main course meal was served with white rice. We will definitely come back and try other dishes.

Sometimes God answers prayers. It’s great to have a good Korean restaurant in Wayne. The place is clean, the service attentive, and the food is very good. We are now regulars, going there whenever we have a hankering for Korean comfort food. The kalbi and bulgogi portions are huge. The tofu stew comes out boiling hot, with a raw egg to cook in the stew. Now if they served soju, it would get 5 stars.. .

My new favorite place! Today was second visit, food is excellent, fresh ingredients, very friendly and helpful service. I love Asian food, and choose to eat Asian food 95% of the time. One of my pet peeves is when a restaurant has an identity crisis, serving a mish mash of cuisines. Not so with Mr. Tofu, they are Korean Cuisine 100%! If you are vegetarian and or gluten free, No Problem. And the carnivores I dined with were very pleased as well. Don’t miss this great spot!

It’s so very refreshing, to find a place with good — and authentic — Korean cuisine. Entering Mr. Tofu House, the first thing you notice is the fresh, clean lines of the dining area. Light and airy and walking that wonderful line between modern and traditional, the restaurant is comfortable, yet functional. The menu, although not large in appearance, offers quite a lot, with the available combinations and options in most of the dishes. In addition, Mr. Tofu House offers the traditional Korean small-dish appetizers(banchan), complimentary with each meal. These range from the traditional kimchi(which Koreans enjoy at ALL meals), to black beans, to tiny dried fish, pickled cucumber salad, and more. We were also given steamed(scrambled) egg, in an earthenware bowl. A GREAT way to begin a meal! My wife ordered the bibimbap, a combo dish containing fresh salad, mushrooms, a meat and fried egg on top and served with hot, steamed rice. The rice is mixed with the other ingredients in the bowl and tossed with gochujang, the traditional Korean spicy BBQ sauce. My daughter had the chaphae(sauteed cellophane noodles with veggies and beef), and I had kimchi tofu soup with beef. These were all incredibly good and all so authentically prepared. If you’re not familiar with Korean food, why not go there for lunch? It’s a great way to try some superb food, and the service staff can help you choose something to start with. By the way — if you enjoy BBQ, Korean BBQ is some of the best. Mr. Tofu House is definitely worth the visit. Today was our first trip there.. . and we can’t wait to go again!

It’s never a good idea to go to bed on an empty tummy because you wake up absolutely starving the next morning! That’s what happened to me last Saturday when I was at my boyfriend’s house. Not wanting the usual(usually we go to a diner or grab bagels) and not wanting to travel far(who wants to wait when they’re hungry?!), we decided to try out Mr. Tofu House! We have driven past it a few times, but hadn’t gotten the chance to try it. Well, on Saturday we finally went and … Loved it! We went around 11(I was surprised they opened at 10:30). The restaurant was nice and clean and the waitresses were warm and friendly. We got a nice cup of tea(I wanna say it’s like a Korean rice tea) and a ordered their fried dumplings, a stone pot bibimbap(mixed veggies and rice with choice of near), and a lunch special of bulgogi and noodles. While we were waiting for our food, the banchan was served — they’re like little side dishes. We got kimchi, a red jiggly string like thing(I think it was squid), sweet black beans, and cabbage in vinegar. Very tasty, nice way to start the meal! Our dumplings came first and at first I was confused because they were in the shape of a rectangle. It was cute and different! Loved the dipping sauce it came in. Then our main meals came. I was not really a fan of the red chili pepper sauce that came with the bibimbap. I like mine a little sweeter, but this one seemed to be on the more sour side. My bulgogi and noodles were definitely the winner of the day! The bulgogi was so tender and sweet. The noodles were nice and chewy. And it came over rice(in case I didn’t have enough carbs from the noodles lol) so I was definitely full at the end of my meal, and very happy. Glad this place opened. I will have to come back and try its namesake dish, the tofu! TLDR– bulgogi lunch special with the noodles is a must get! Dumplings are great too!
