I lived on the mainline for years and never visited this lil gem, minutes from my house. Ventured here a few weeks ago and everything was good! From the cheesesteak spring rolls to the sushi, I enjoyed the entire meal. I did not think that the fake crab-meat atop my sushi roll was a good touch. Crab should be crab, period and that was my only dislike. Try it for yourself sometime.

First time dining at a sushi bar; great experience. Good food, great sangrías and prices are reasonable with happy hour specials. Service was enjoyable we were given a complimentary appetizer, because a large party put in their order before us, worth the trip.

A really fun and delicious menu, and super affordable. Still dreaming about the shoestring fries and kimchi brussels sprouts. Service was very good for our big party. Can’t wait to go back and try the wine everyone is talking about!

Can you say shoestring fries with truffle Aoli? How about half-price sushi special at lunchtime? This restaurant has never disappointed me every single bite I’ve had has always been delicious. The sushi rolls are all so good that this time my daughter insisted on having her own«amazing tuna roll». I would love to have my own order of the shoestring fries with truffel aoli but that would be embarrassing because it is such a nice mound of pommes frites that is designed for sharing… I have really enjoyed some of their other tapis plates as well, especially the fillet mignon dumplings and mushroom flatbread. They have gotten on board with the latest trend of serving donuts in a little bag with side dips(thank god) for desert. It is not surprisingly that they have mastered this trend by supplying us with nicely sized donuts that were crispy on the outside area on the inside smothered in sugar. The one dipping sauce that they provide is a caramel sauce that is so good but unnecessary for the donuts. I wish they would put it in a little to go cup so I could take it home and dip pretzels in it or top gourmet vanilla ice cream with it… Or just dip my fingers.(it’s a shame for it to go to waste) The fact that O-toro offers this sushi lunch special is genius it has gotten me to come to the restaurant for the special but now I’m hooked on the great food and great service.

Upscale décor but lighting was too dim. The sushi was fresh but then again it would be a travesty for rolls that cost this much(or $ 6-$ 12 for just 2 pieces) to not taste fresh. Get your AmEx card ready.

We love the concept of wine bar with good sashimi, rolls and small plate tapas. O-Toro is as good as it gets for sushi on the Main Line. O-toro has a fancy wine preservation system and nice wine selection. We enjoy the chance to try out a number of different glasses without having to commit to a full bottle. We have also discovered O-Toro lets us order from the menu of next-door Landmark american grill — so our small kids can have chicken fingers and burgers while we get raw fish!

Gotta say, this sushi is some of the best on the mainline and there is never a wait. Eaten lunch here 3 times and never been disappointed.

Came here with some Japanese coworkers. Not exactly traditional sushi but fun! We played«pick the strangest roll» and the Tartufo and Mexicano won. Not bad but not really what you think of when you think of sushi. Limited choice on non-rolls.

I went today for lunch, great vibe, so clean. I believe the servers name was Brian super friendly and nice! Great grade sushi, they have this miso sauce that is out of this world! :)

We gave this restaurant a second chance and I’m so glad we did! Over the past year, I feel like this restaurant got an effective«reboot.» The current menu seems to have more variety, especially in the sushi department and the prices have dropped enough to make this restaurant a staple instead a special occasion. I live and breath sushi and I can honestly say that the sushi menu here caught me off guard(in a good way). Along with some classics and standard sashimi, the sushi menu offers unique rolls. The vegetarian Tartuffo Roll with wild mushrooms, truffle aioli and a scallion/cherry pepper relish was a lovely mélange of tastes and textures that provided the same satisfaction of a non-veggie roll. The Amazing Tuna Roll was, well, amazing — a play on the popular spicy tuna roll with added tobiko and tempura for crunch and flavor. Another very good reason to visit this restaurant is for the wine bar. There is a hardy selection of wines at reasonable prices. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable about their selection and will help you find just the right wine to suit your palate. I also like the ease at which they can pull you a sample to ensure you find the wine you love without making a commitment!

Friendly staff, 20 pieces for $ 20 on Thursdays! Good food. A tad bit dirty and I didnt care for the menu design, mine was filthy. Other than that, I had a pretty good experience!

I went here with a date who loves sushi, and we weren’t disappointed. The place is clean, friendly and the food was wonderful. Our favorite was the Osaka! Then, the Olive Tree(very interesting combo). We both didn’t like the Mexicano… I guess sushi and chipotle really don’t mix well. But, that said, it was a great meal and we’ll be back.

Situated in a cozy spot in Wayne, resides O-toro. A little tight, and problematic parking since the popular landmark is connected to it. The general vibe of the place was nonexistent. This place offers an interesting menu consisting of sushi, sashimi, and Asian tapas. We came here Friday evening for a casual dinner before our movie, and were unfortunately a bit underwhelmed. If you want common sushi and sashimi with little to no excitement on their special rolls, come here. The list of offerings for sushi and sashimi was limited. On the other hand the Asian tapas were decent. Duck tacos, Korean fried chicken, filet dumplings, and Korean beef-fried rice with a fried egg on top. The pricing was decent for the food. We skipped desert at this place. The selections were limited and sounded really bleak. Come on, donuts are so overdone! The beer selection was a bit disappointing. The sake was overpriced and the cocktails were tiny. The server was pretty forgettable except for the fact he didn’t seem like he wanted to be there. Wayne has better places. Come here for a last resort if you want some Asian tapas.

When they said«small plates» they weren’t kidding. Lilliputian is the word my friend used to describe our $ 2.00 cups of tea and $ 5 cappuccino. Deleicious food — but so small. Sushi rolls are«normal» size — and the $ 5 spicy tuna roll at happy hour(Usually $ 9) is a good deal — but you have to sit at the bar or in the bar area. Mike from Detroit was our cheerful server/bartender and he was terrific. I enjoyed the Louella roll(Lots of yellowtail) most of all — but the tuna nachos — had 5(five) nachos on the plate. Really? For $ 10 there wer five pieces? That’s$ 2 per chip. Seriously??? I would never bring my husband here or any«big eater». No way. This is a menu comprised of apps and you can very easily leave here feeling hungry with a much lighter wallet.

I’ve been here a few times so far. The sushi always seems to be on point, but everything else has been wack. So first of all… really? Christmas music? Give me a fucking break! This is supposed to be a hip place to dine and you’re playing the corniest of all Christmas music on a Saturday night at 9PM. Fix that shit, pronto. On to the real review… Most recently I got the KFC and kimchee fried rice. The KFC literally tasted like a KFC chicken nugget served on a stick and drenched in siracha sauce. The chicken did not seem fried, most likely broiled. The kimchee fried rice was just plain weird. The rice was definitely not fried. The consistently was mushy. There was very little kimchee in the rice and the presentation was really bad. Even Oliver Twist wouldn’t have asked for some more. I didn’t feel either of these items were worth even the price of the groupon. Also the check was not handed to me in a check book, which for some reason really rubbed me the wrong way. Am I ab-normal? It was just presented to me for everybody to see my $ 0.64 bill. If not for the frequent sushi and drink specials, this would not be deserving of 3 stars. TL;DR — Stick to the sushi. Go during happy hour or the friday/saturday night specials. Expect Christmas music.

We went on Saturday night, and were indeed surprised. The sushi was good, and their unexpected late night special really rocks! On Friday and Saturday nights, it’s half-price sushi, beer and cocktails from 9 to 11PM! They don’t have a huge selection, as it’s also a tapas place(how strange is that?), but they did have a nice enough selection of rolls and sushi. We tried many different rolls, but absolutely loved the Sunflower and Olive Tree rolls. The Olive Tree was all fish wrapped in cucumber, so was very light. The Sunflower was just plain yummy, filled with crunchy spicy tuna, salmon, tuna, eel and tobiko. We’ll have to try the place again soon to check out some of the tapas. The Duck Tacos and Mushroom Flatbread sound good.

I left pretty satisfied with this small place on the mainline that’s attached to the Landmark(which used to be The Paddock, which used to be John Havard’s Brewery). I wandered in for a 4:30 — 6:30 Happy Hour where they have a set list of drinks and small plates on special for $ 5. I ended up trying a couple sushi rolls along with some chicken skewers and a cheese plate that isn’t on the happy hour menu. The sushi, was better than the Indian chicken dish, but both were pretty good. You can pick the cheeses you want al la carte. I didn’t really know what to expect from a place that does sushi and tapas, but they handle it well. The service at the bar was quick and attentive. The crowd was young mainliners(more women than men). FYI, there aren’t any beers on tap. It’s all bottles. The wine list is more substantial.

I’ve dined at O-Toro on numerous occasions, and each time it has been a good experience. The former banquet room occupied by adjoining restaurant Landmark Americana was transformed into O-Toro, a sushi-wine-small plates joint, which opened on September 7, 2012. When I first sampled a spread from O-Toro’s menu back in August 2012, I knew right away the owners had precisely the concept and flavors that diners on the Main Line have been craving. The diverse offerings, including sushi and global tapas, ensure that even those without affinity for Japanese food will find something to enjoy. Sushi — Offerings include standard-but-spot-on spicy tuna, California, salmon-avocado, and other familiar standbys. There are also some imaginative rolls: the Sunflower Roll is excellent. Crunchy spicy maguro tuna is almost encased in fresh strips of maguro, salmon, and eel sashimi. The roll is drizzled with spicy mayonnaise and eel sauce, flecked with black and orange tobiko, and topped with scallions. The Truffled Lobster roll(soy paper wrapper, rice, picked ginger, lobster, truffle aioli, and asparagus) is both conspicuously and palate pleasing. Tapas — Stand-outs include a nori-crusted filet, which is executed flawlessly. Four ounces of filet cooked to a crisp sear on the outside, leaving a succulent medium-rare center that is moist, juicy, and flavorful. The steak is sliced thinly on the plate, and sits atop drizzled wasabi aioli. The aioli is mild and notes of wasabi are virtually nonextant. The miso-marinated portobello mushrooms, while sometimes on the salty side, always disappear quickly. Other dishes not to be missed: the soulful Lobster Macaroni & Cheese and the addictive Mushroom Flatbread. Beverages — Great selection of carefully-chosen wine by the glass(25+ on a daily basis) as well as by the bottle, extensive sake offerings, and a unique craft beer list. If you go: — O-Toro accommodates gluten-free, pescatarian, and vegetarian diets. — Happy Hour is from 4:00pm-6:30pm M-F and on the weekends from 9:00pm-midnight with select wine, beer, sushi, and tapas — Wednesday nights are half-off bottle nights, where all wine bottles are half off. — Corkage fee is $ 25 — Specials and additions to the menu are usually available on Fridays and Saturdays.
