Forget Ann Arbor. Drive down Mich ave past the bowing ally and the auto plant, the old motels and dive bars and COME TO THE STATE THEATER to see your movie!
First of all it is smaller, friendlier and has cool neon.
But secondly you’ll be DELIGHTED with the surround sound and the extra wide RECLINING seats so comfortable.
And they show first run movies way cheaper than Ann Arbor. They have a senior and a child rate both $ 4.50. Prime time too! Wayne is just a great working man’s town. With neighborhood bars, mom and pop restaurants and the State Theater.

Uh guys. This theater is AWESOME. Old school location from the 40s, fully reclining seats. Went in between dropping off folks for two flights at DTW to see Star Wars, and it was fantastic. Might actually drive here from Ann Arbor it’s that good.

The reclining seats at this theater made today’s visit the most comfortable movie viewing experience of my life. The pricing is also good, especially with a Groupon voucher. The only thing that isn’t perfect about this theater is that the screen seems slighted tilted to one direction, but that’s more than tolerable with such comfy seats.

Wow I must say this isn’t my first trip to this rodeo…
However, it’s been awhile. Maybe a year since last time here, we saw Lego.
Well my son having visited with his Dad, told me how bomb diggity it has become and asked me to go before today. We usually go to Emagine, because of proximity, however today this place worked due to situation.
I must say, I am impressed! Those seats are like oh my so so comfy! Like a lazy boy recliner even better. The aisles wider due to an ability to kick back. Wow again so very nice.
I liked this little theater before because of it’s character, kinda like stepping back in time with its muraled exterior walls (kinda reminds me of Plymouth Penn theater) old fashioned lobby set up, something you would find in a small quaint town anywhere in the states, but now coupled with the high definition of a digital and super comfy theater it’s a win win.
To boot they also have some serious good deals, much more reasonable then other places in the area and not fighting the crowd.
A true gem of a cinema. A++ thumbs up.

Today was the first time I ever went here and it was the most luxurious and comfortable theater I have ever been in!!!

State Wayne Theater… Small town movie house feel with a BIG boom… Yep, the updated State Wayne in incredible. I’m bummed when there’s a movie I want to see not playing there! Yes, it’s true!!!
Back when they remodeled and reopened, they had a Groupon special available, which after going one time, I scooped up 10 of them. Lol. :)
The sound system and screen great, but the reclining lazy boy style chairs are spectacular! Talk about feeling like you’re at home! The seats are comfortable, clean, and adjust perfect to suit your needs.
The concessions seem to be on part with other theaters, and the staff are young and very friendly.
Great place, give it a try!!!

Its renovation is awesome. Been going there since I was a child 30yrs ago. Prices are reasonable. For my daughter and I to see a movie is less then $ 20 and that includes free refills, brand new reclining seats that are very comfortable, a friendly staff and an overall clean place with the old feeling still attached to it :)

My new favorite old theater.
Recently, saw Avengers: Age of Ultron for $ 4.50 during a Saturday.
The redesign is phenomenal with the comfortable seating. Much cleaner than my old memories of the State Wayne.
The only way they could improve is if they had an alcohol license.

Love the small town feel… Love the staff. Left a tip that I feel passionate about. I still visit Emagine because of the rewards program and icees. I hate soda, lemonade, hi-​c, and Siberia chill. So at state wayne I can’t justify getting a combo. Looking forward to the next great improvments. Thank you for making such great efforts.

Very nice how they redid this place. I will come back again… :) love the seats and like that It’s not a alot of PPL in one theater at once.

First time herr yesturday to take my girls to see Paddington. Very impressed with the renovations. Picture and sound quality was great. Loved the power reclining seats! You could hear the movie playing next doir, that was a bit annoying and the concession prices I thought were a tad high. They didn’t have a kids thing so we had to buy a big popcorn and share it. I overall though it was great. Will definitely be back. Ticket prices were great!

How I love my small town theatre! The theatre is small, but I personally like the fact that I’m not packed in a theatre with hundreds of people. They also have some pretty awesome reclining chairs and concessions aren’t to pricey. There’s always coupons for free popcorn on their website, and oh… how can I forget… they play the rocky horror picture show with props and shadow cast a couple times a month all year long!!!

The theater is clean, the new reclining seat are really comfortable, didn’t want to leave the theater at all.

We were here nine years ago and it was sooo creepy. Cob webs in the ceilings and an overall scary, dirty feeling. Fast forward to yesterday, tickets were cheap to see How to Train you dragon 2, so I took the girls. Wow has it changed. It’s so cute. The outside and inside walls are adorned with murals and it’s very clean. Tickets were $ 4.50 for adult matinée. Pop was $ 3.50 with free refills. The viewing room was small but we were the only ones in there so it didn’t matter. The seats were off center of the screen but I imagine it’s original so why change it. It has that vintage feel with an actual marquee out front. They have a showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show once a month if that’s your thing. Overall, visit this place, it’s a historic landmark.

OG theater in Wayne that has been there as long as I can remember. Smaller theaters like back in the day, but that’s cool with me. This is a «throw-​back» type theater and I go there for the reminiscing of the old days, and also to support the cinematic arts in Wayne. Go there, take in a film and feel like your stepping back in time!

My experienced is a little skewed, because I came for an a typical event… Rocky Horror Picture Show live! Full of skeevy wretched folks, we attendees are.
But the theatre was beautiful inside, the staff were perfectly friendly, given the funkiness of the event. The area is less than attractive, and not much around except divebar. Ok, for all I know it could have been aces, shoulda Unilocaled it! It’s a historic theatre, so I would go back if I was in the area again.

I’ve been going/​coming to State-​Wayne for almost two decades, long before the remodel and the addition of first-​run movies. As a kid, it was the go-​to theater for cheap movies. I’ve only been once since the remodel, but the change is drastic. Clean, decent seating, great popcorn. Great if you live in the area and don’t want to drive out to another theater.
