The wife and I came here for Happy Hour on a fellow Unilocalers recommendation(Thomas W). I was expecting your typical bar and grill type atmosphere, but to my surprise and delight it was much more of an intimate-type atmosphere. Small, cozy bar that’s perfect for date night with your someone special. We ordered two beers(Alagash White), and they were $ 4.00 per(2 off of their menu prices). Didn’t order food, but I know we’ll be back for dinner because it smelled very very good in there :-) They also have velet parking that starts at 5 I guess, since we arrived prior to and were able to park ourselves, which is a very nice touch. Thanks for the tip Thomas! Highly recommended by this Unilocaler!

Went here with friends after finals on a Thursday night. They were pretty busy but we got seated right away! It was a chill laid back atmosphere. Food was really amazing ! Service was great, she always came back just in time and kept wine coming ! They had a really good live band ! My table shared mussels, calamari, fried shrimp, buffalo wings, cesar salad with steak & chicken. No complaints! The steak and calamari was cooked perfectly. Good sized portions for every dish ! We have already planned to go back!

Our server was very nice and greeted us right away. We started with Caesar salad and the burrata with arugula salad which were both great. For our entrees, we ordered beer bratwurst and burgers. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered. The fries were crisped potato wedges and they were awesome. I didn’t think the interior had a «NYC pub vibe» as a previous reviewer stated but it was clean and spacious. If you live nearby and are in the mood for a beer and a burger, it’s a good place to eat pub food.

Great food and great atmosphere. All the beer is craft and the waitress clearly knew what she was talking about. The food was very good with portions being generous. I highly recommend you check it out if you are in the area.

This place is great! The food was delicious and everything was fresh. They have a nice beer list and full bar which is great. The martini was decent and the was delicious. I will definitely suggest the prime rib with lobster mashed potatoes when it’s on the specials! We will definitely be back for date night!

My husband and I had never been to the Taphouse before but always said we’d try it. I really wasn’t expecting much, except for your typical run of the mill bar and grll and was pleasantly surprised. We had the buffalo wings and sriracha shrimp to start. Both were tasty! They also supplied us with wet naps as well so we had clean hands for our dinner after eating the wings. We both ordered from the specials menu. My husband had the short rib entrée and I had the chicken ranchero both were delicious and our plates were clean at the end. The service was great. We had two servers who were very attentive and always refilled our drinks and asked us how we were doing. I would definitely return!

Got the nachos on a Sunday afternoon and half the cheese wasn’t even melted. Most of the nacho weren’t even fully fried. Then the pizza came and tasted like it came out of a frozen cardboard box. The crust was so dry it cracked like a saltine cracker. Gave it 2 stars because the flavored had potential. Service was average, nothing more or nothing less than standard. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

I enjoy the ambience, and atmosphere. I am trying the Weyerbacher Pumpkin Lager which is light, and smooth. There are two floors for more seating. Great set up! Jeff the bartender is very friendly. The place is empty right now, but I am confident it picks up later. Oh, and I love the food! I really like coming here. I cannot wait to try the cheeseburger.

It was fine. A solid«fine.» My exceptions were higher since I heard such great things though. Walk into the bar to eat. Nice atmosphere. Ordered beer, which was a solid selection. Ordered some wings which were disgustingly under cooked. After trying one and staring at them for 5 more minutes the bartender took them back. We ordered the rest of the food and had another beer. Wings came out better, not amazing but ok wings. Manager apologized again, nice. Food came out… Popcorn shrimp, fine. Fish tacos(2) with a mountain of rice… Fine … Check please. Again. It wasn’t really great. Not horrible by any means… But nothing to go out of your way to or really recommend. Hungry and close to it, sure go. It’ll be fine.

3.5 stars. Very nice rotating beer selection. The staff is friendly and knowledgable about the craft beer on tap. They run some nice events like NJ beer night. They also have a Sunday brunch. Food has significantly improved over the past few years. I’m not a vegetarian but I do have veggies in my family… so a veggie burger would be a nice addition to the menu. This would make my wife happy and help my case to go there more often. Grandma’s pie is really good as are the short rib tacos. Bar is small but active. Really great place to hang out and have a few.

Great food, terrible service! Our food was brought to us by the staff and the server never checked on our table again. We wanted to order additional drinks and get refills, and it didn’t occur until we flagged down the manager. As for the food, my wife loved the fish tacos, but the Fork and knife Steak Sandwich was terribly disappointed. The roll was a bit stale and the steak was paper thin. Definitely not a win!

Great place for good beer, but spoiled by crowds and acoustics. WHAT’S GREAT Love their craft beer list. Changes each month and you can get beer flights. Pro tip — grab an extra beer menu off the reception desk before you are seated. For some reason they only bring one to the table and if you have several people each trying to pick four beers for a flight, sharing one list takes forever. Then they come and ask for your drink order and you’re not ready so they go away and don’t come back for 15 minutes. You know how that goes. WHAT’S OK Food is good and tends toward slightly upscale pub food. Would be nice if they had a few more healthy choices. Service varies — we have had good and terrible, just depends when you are there and who you get. WHAT’S BAD The noise level often makes it impossible to have a conversation over dinner. Just seems to be bad acoustics in the place. Maybe it’s the low ceiling. It is very popular with large noisy groups — either the kind with one blowhard who is trying to address all 18 people at once or the kind with little kids who break loose and run around the room. I get you need to accommodate groups, but put them off to the side or on the end. Here they are often dead center making things miserable for all the two-tops and four-tops around them. Also bad is the totally random valet parking. Sometimes when a big group is upstairs, they insist on valet parking for everybody. I really hate valet parking anywhere, even fancy places, but it really has no place at a «Grille» where you are going for the beer. Have a valet for the event if you want and let regular customers park themselves.

Came out to lunch here with some work colleagues while training. Really nice spot, but service is horrible! I only tried one thing so review is based on that item. I had the Brie steak sandwich, huge platter and pretty cheap for lunch. Sandwich was good! No skimping on the meat or Brie. Came with side of fries which were not good, lacked flavor as well. Overall, it’s a nice place I’d recommend checking out for locals or people visiting the area.

Ever since this place first opened I’ve wanted to come and try it out. I finally got to try out dinner here tonight and was sadly underwhelmed. 1. Mandatory valet parking? I don’t get it… 2. Nachos with pulled pork: bland, unseasoned pork with no sauce or flavor. To be honest it almost reminded me of canned tuna because of the weird soggy texture. The rest of the nachos were alright. 3. Fish tacos: portion was generous, it came with two large tacos and a side of plain white rice(again no flavor, seasoning, spice, nada). The tacos were 70% lettuce, with a small piece of tilapia on top which I consumed within two bites, leaving the rest of my taco as bites of lettuce and tortilla. There was some sort of white sauce over the fish but I couldn’t even taste it because, again, flavorless and blah. 4. My boyfriend had a burger, I forget the name of it but it had bacon, onion rings, and BBQ sauce. This was the best thing out of the whole meal. Fries were very good too. The menu items seem intriguing, but food was underwhelming. Stick to the burgers, they seem solid. If I do return in the future, it will be for jazz night or brunch, probably not dinner.

Every year my family and I gather together and enjoy an Easter buffet. Came for the Easter Buffet. At 32.00 a person this experience yielded a huge disappointment. Taphouse grill was the biggest let down to date. The variety was severely lacking and a sad display. After you fill your plate up you dont want to go back, there is really nothing else to have. We are not big eaters but I was bored by what they offered for an Easter Buffet and price. First lets explore the fact that on the carving station they offered one beef item(I believe it was roast beef. There was no gravy or other items to accompany it. Half my party did not even get the meat as they ran out and then started slicing sirloin??? Maybe for Superbowl but it’s EASTER. where is the ham the turkey the lamb??? There was no pasta station and besides the silver dollar pancakes, french toast sausage and bacon the only hot items served was 2 penne dishes. Oh lets not forget the desserts that we were offered, a plate of chocolate chip cookies and brownie bites! The buffet seriously filled up one table. Stick to places like the mason jar that charges 28.95 has over 30 hot items, 3 meats on the carving station, an omelet station, pasta station and a room dedicated to desserts

Been coming here on a occasion for a few years but started more frequent visits of late. Thought it was good when they first opened but has greatly improved. For one their craft beer selection is EXCELLENT. I love that they support NJ craft brewers with a nice percentage of their offerings from breweries such as Carton, Kane, Bolero Snort and more. I also like that you can get a 4 sample flight for $ 12. The food here is also quite good. For bar and grille type food, it’s some of the best in the area. My wife and sometimes split an assortment of appetizers. In some cases they might be kind if small but I always have to keep in mind they’re apps and should be human sized. I highly recommend the Scampi Mussels(very unique) and the Short Rib tacos are to die for. I’ve never had a full entrée here but their burgers are quite exceptional. Nice thick and prepared very accurately to your temperature preference. Excellent bun too. I dare say their burgers are probably better than a lot of craft burger joints that have flooded the area. Service is good– attentive and friendly. Never really had a bad experience. Highly recommend this place for lovers of craft beer and for those looking for a solid bar and grille meal that is both inventive and tasty.

I’d tap that house… wait, what? I originally stumbled upon Taphouse when I needed a change of scenery from my usual bar for playoff football. On a lark, I stumbled across Taphouse Grille, and ever since it has been my go to spot! Taphouse, in my opinion, is among the best gastropubs in the area. Taphouse’s extensive beer menu, delicious entrees, good value and great staff are the reasons why I return over and over again. One of my favorite qualities about Taphouse is the décor. The restaurant looks sleek. Taphouse is draped in hardwood floors, exposed brick, dim overhead lighting and dark-wood tables and chairs. Taphouse feels like swanky Manhattan grille in the middle of North Jersey. Also, there are plenty of TV’s in the restaurant, but not so many that it feel like you are eating in an electronics store. The bar is small, but mighty! The bar area is smaller than other gastropubs, however there are an extraordinary amount of beers on tap! The bartenders are great too; they’re knowledgeable about the beers, provide fast service and go to the trouble of remembering your name and your brew of choice. The bar also provides growlers for sale… Score! The food is awesome! During my last visit I decided to have a beer flight, nachos and a bar pie. The beer flight was great, and perfect since I couldn’t decide on which beer I wanted to try. I had the Abita Twin Turbo, Allagash White, Brooklyn Greenmarket Wheat and the and Carton Boat Beer. The Allagash and Boat Beer were both crisp and refreshing, while the Brooklyn Wheat robust and bready. But hands down, my favorite was the Twin Turbo. I enjoyed this hoppy brew so much that I ended up purchasing a growler! The nachos were really good. I remember being surprised how much I liked the nachos since Taphouse isn’t a Tex-Mex grille. The bar pie was amazing too. I had the Grandma Style pie. The deliciously crispy pie was covered with tomatoes, roasted garlic and fresh mozz. The pie was large enough to split between 2 – 3 people. In the end, the most distressing part of my meal was determining what beers I’d try on my flight. Taphouse is the place to be to watch your favorite game, or fill your face with delicious goodness. Taphouse has plenty of menu options so there is something for everyone. Well done Taphouse!

Came here on a Sunday night to watch football. There was plenty of seating near the TVs, which I was especially grateful after my weekend in NYC ;) Anyways, the beer selection is really awesome. They had a large selection of lagers, ales, stouts, wheat beers, and hard ciders on tap. Can it get better on a football night? The prices are really reasonable at $ 6 – 8 for a glass of beer on tap. I am assuming the happy hour specials during the week are even more so. As for the food, I can’t really comment as I only tried the tahini hummus appetizer with pita chips… meh. Though I need to recognize that I am saying that… sort of a Mediterranean food junkie here. Next time, I’d go with the chicken or nachos. Overall, highly recommend. The bar isn’t really homey or anything over-the-top with décor. But I liked the beer selection and prices.

Taphouse Grill is the best place in town to get a great craft beer and some good food, hence the fact that it’s a gastropub. It’s also, a great place to watch the game; there’s literally at least one TV on each wall and that’s just in the dining area. They have a printed out draft beer menu which changes all the time, so it gives you a chance to try different beers every time you go here. Every single beer on the draft beer menu is a craft beer, if those old school domestic beer people you’re going to have to get it in a bottle. There’s also a small but descent wine section with about five wines by the glass for red and for white and small selection of wines by the bottle. The food here is always consistent. The burgers are always cooked perfectly. Their pulled pork sandwich and fish tacos are also very good. My favorite dish from here is their bratwurst which comes with bacon and lager infused sauerkraut, a freshly made whole grain mustard, and potatoes, I would recommend getting this dish during the cooler months because it’s more of a comfort food kind of dish. I’ve never tried the thin crust pizza but it looks very good. What’s really cool about this place is the fact that there’s a separate catering area upstairs AND it’s a gastropub. So, while you’re having a party or event, you can enjoy some great beer! I know I’m sold! Great Food, craft beer! How could you lose!
