Brought an antique french tile to be put in my own provided frame. The owner proceeds to drop the ceramic tile and chip the back of it, reducing its value. All he said was oops, sorry… FORTUNATELYDIDNOTCHIPFRONTORITWOULDHAVEBEEN A WHOLEDIFFERENTOUTCOME! When asked how long it should take, he says not long at all. Almost 2 weeks later I returned and it wasn’t even started. When I return to pick it up, the board on which the tile is positioned has visible razor slits in it. He did say that if I wanted him to redo it he would but at that point I was just totally disgusted! $ 72 dollars, chipped tile and poorly mounted tile later. — –PRICELESS!!! GOELSEWHERE!!!

This place is fine if you don’t mind high prices and waiting weeks. I had a few things done before moving to LA and was told two weeks. At three weeks I called and was asked if they had been ‘a must have’ by a certain date. I said now they are! And it was done soon after. When I got it home I noticed a speck of dust on the mat and a couple of small chips on the top corner of the frame. My mother has been going there for years and has experienced all these issues and more. When I ask her why she keeps going back she tells me she likes the ladies who work there. They do have a lot to choose from but service and product annoyed me enough to write this.

My husband told the ladies at The Great Frame up that we were hosting a bridal shower the very next day and they went completely out of their way to accommodate us. We had several jobs we wanted done of various sizes and levels of importance to us. They quickly sized up what they could get done immediately, handled those jobs perfectly, and then treated our smaller jobs with just as much care. Those were complete in just a couple of days, even though their team was planning for a massive event the following weekend. We had fun selecting from the odds-and-ends frames and massive selection of matting and they gave us great style advice for our prints. Custom framing is expensive anywhere, but when we are ready to frame more we will definitely be back.

Holy batman! I was reeling when my price quote for a print framing was over $ 300. What??? Its a poster not a Picasso! I’ve had prints framed professionally for a fraction of the cost. I’ll give them credit for being super accomadating and helpful. They managed to knock down the price to $ 120 for a generic boring black frame already in stock. If I didn’t have a groupon coupon I would have walked straight out. Total rip off!

I went to The Great Frame Up with two pieces to have framed. I had bought framing services before but only small, not very important pieces. I was astounded when they gave me a quote for over $ 1700 just for one of the pieces. So I investigated a bit and went to 2 other frame shops and had them quote on nearly exactly the same scenario. 2x matting, archival, museum glass, bold frame with some distressed gold leaf. I ended up paying only $ 374.58 for BOTH! Like I said the exact same thing for $ 1400 less. I asked the other framer why he thought The Great Frame Up was so over prices– he was puzzled and said that«We all us the same materials». Any way. The pieces look wonderful, are beautifully crafted and I saved myself enough to re-frame several more pieces. I’ve told this story to many of my friends and to be sure to avoid the grossly inflated prices at The Great Frame Up.
