Very nice restaurant… good service, good ambience and good food. Hit all the right spots ! Definitely would recommend.

Not sure why others have rated this place low. It’s a gem! In Wayne there are few Mexican restaurants worthy of a night out. This is one of them. Came here on a Thursday and got the jalapeño cucumber margarita, guacamole and an entrée. Everything was amazing.

They added automatic gratuity of 20% on a party of four for a food that was unremarkable at best. Two starts for ambiance. NEVERGOINGBACK

We wouldnt go back again. The empty restaurant at 12 on a Friday should have been the first clue. A table of 4 of us went and while at first the waiter seemed very helpful with dietary restrictions, later the bill came out wrong(wrung up the wrong drink prices, didnt give us the 5% cash discount. sketchy things). The food was really mediocre. Not seasoned well, not really mexican at all. A woman who sat at the table next to us came over to ask what we would suggest as she had a friend coming and had never been there. We had a moment of awkward silence as none of us had liked anything — we ended up suggesting the plain salad. This says a lot. The enchiladas, grilled chicken, and shrimp fajitas were all flavorless. Wouldn’t go back and wouldnt suggest it to anyone. Not quite 1 star, but definitely not 3.

We ordered guacamole to start and then fish tacos and a beef enchilada. Guacamole was good and made to order. My husband wasn’t that impressed with his tacos. When we got our food mine was wrong but when I finally got my beef enchilada(20 minutes after my husband had his food) it was really good. The food is good in my opinion but I couldn’t rate higher than a 2 because the service was so terrible! There were only three other tables aside from us and it took just under 2 hours for our lunch because our server was never around. We had to get up and find him for refills, napkins, flatware, to tell him my food was wrong and then to ask for the bill. Also, waiting 20 minutes after my husband received his food for them to provide me with the dish I ordered is just ridiculous! We went to lunch together to eat together. He was done eating before I had my meal. We won’t return.

The food was poor and although the ambience was only fair, I felt really bad when the owner scolded a worker in a very rough manner in front of us. I will not return to that place.

I went with a group of coworkers on a Wednesday night. Talk about a busy place! Parking was a nightmare as our little caravan of vehicles followed each other through every parking lot, slowly whittling down as parking spots became available. Eventually we just ended driving several streets over to find a spot and walked it. Fortunately, the experience was worth it. We called ahead and had a reservation(something you will want to do! They were busy!) The food seemed hit or miss around the table. Those who had ordered cheaper, plain dishes said that the food was bland and unpleasant. Those of us who decided to splurge and order the nicer dishes were quite pleased. Luckily I had been saving up for this evening and I ordered the Conchinita Pibil and it was fantastic. The meat was savory with just the right amount of heat. I ended up sharing with a friend of mine because he said his fajitas were very bland. The margaritas were decent. They do offer tequila flight, which might be interesting to sample. Unfortunately, our service wasn’t optimal. The server’s attention was always difficult to get and he refused to split up our ticket by everyone’s order(we only had a group of eight), so we ended up having to simply divide the entire amount by the number of people. I’m sure that those who ordered water and small plates felt quite gypped.

This place is just really not worth the money. Expensive, and subpar food and service. I’ve tried this place in multiple contexts and have not been happy. Can’t give it any more shots. It’s a shame, because I had such high hopes when it was set to open.

Why don’t people like it here?! It’s Mexican food! If you don’t like Mexican food simply don’t go here.

Violeta(from Peru) was our server and was simply delightful. MUYBIEN! The food was delicious. I had the house margarita and the beef fajitas. My wife had the shrimp fajitas. The green hot sauce was so good.

We live about 2 blocks away from Xilantro, and after four years since we had a really bad experience we thought we would give it another shot. It’s been around for four years now so it must have improved significantly? We eat in Wayne all the time, and the Xilantro location is great. In terms of outdoor seating, its probably the best spot on the street. Most of the restaurants on Wayne ave. are consistently busy for lunch and dinner, while Xilantro is only busy when the weather is really nice because the outdoor seating is great. We stopped in on a beautiful Saturday on Memorial day weekend and the outdoor seating was pretty busy, but inside Xilantro was empty which was surprising for 6:30pm, prime restaurant time. We placed an an order for drinks and guacamole and waited. We actually waited 25 minutes for our drinks, and we only got them because I went into bar and asked for them. The drinks were actually pretty good, and soon after the guacamole arrived. The guacamole has definitely improved since our last experience, but I don’t think it’s $ 11 good. We didn’t bother ordering entrees because it was clear that this place hasn’t changed in four years of being is business, which is why it’s consistently empty while other restaurants in town are thriving. My only guess is that the ownership has deep pockets, and doesn’t care about having a quality product. It’s a shame because the location is excellent and this area desperately needs a good Mexican option.

I wasn’t impressed. It felt like they were trying to be too chic or modern. The food was good but the service was not what I expected, nor were the prices. We choose this restaurant based on Unilocal listing of price range but the entrees were astronomical for our budget-perhaps we misread previous reviews. Regardless, we ended up just ordering a few appetizers– which I’m sure led to the waitress not being a fan of us.

Will have to agree with some of the other posts that the food here was good not great. The corn soup was not very hot but it was tasty. The beef Sandwich was very tasty. The chicken was somewhat dry and could have benefited from some additional sauce. The service was extremely slow in an off hour where only a few other tables were occupied. No water glass refills or checks on how our meal was going.

Service was bad. Waiter didn’t introduce himself and I am pretty sure he didn’t speak English. He was more concerned with the table of 8 – 10 he had. Food was a 5. I was looking for good Mexican food, this is not the place. Will not return.

I haven’t been to xilantro in a while and not exactly sure why. We had a large table of women celebrating a birthday so we wanted to drink wine, margaritas and nibble on small plates. All the food we had was very delicious. I especially liked the fish tacos and the octopus ceviche. The guacamole and chips with fresh salsa picante that was good enough to reorder for the table. Our server was very attentive and friendly. He made some good suggestions for the table as well. I’m going to add xilantro into my mix of places to go for dinner in Wayne.

The classic margaritas are good, the service is a little careless and the food so and so. Not worth the price.

I love Mexican food and want to love this place, but don’t. …my wife and I have eaten here a few times now — the atmosphere and drinks are nice but the food and service — meh

Came here by recommendation on Preston & Steve. So glad I did! The atmosphere is very modern and refreshing(with a name like«Xilantro», you’d have to be, right?). I had the Chile Relleno(cheese-filled) w/rice and refried beans. Although it wasn’t «puffed up» and laid rather flat on the plate, the flavor was great and the cheese had a great«chew» to it. I was happy that they didn’t opt to just serve plain, bland white rice. The rice was savory and delicious and went great with the refried beans. Oh, and the heat was spot on. Not too spicy, not too weak. It was the perfect lunch. I will be coming back when I can.

Tonight was spent in Tequila heaven. Actually it was spent at Xilantro Restaurant in Wayne where I attended an event — a tequila tasting party of Tres Agaves fine estate-bottled tequilas. Xilantro’s accompanying buffet was a perfect flavor partner with some seriously good guac and pico de gallo. Of course it didn’t take much for the attentive bartender to convince us to indulge in a flight of very old Don Julio tequilas. And the night just went on from there …
