Came for lunch while up visiting our son. Clean and well appointed interior. The chairs were modern looking but SUPER comfortable! Ordered the pork egg rolls and they were excellent. Absolutely NOT greasy in the least, just freshly cooked & perfect temperature. Shared: General Tso chicken, sesame chicken, and pepper steak. All three very good, and flavor of the General’s sauce was memorable. The Pepper steak was super tender and delicious but we would have preferred more steak and less peppers, the ratio was too heavy on the peppers. Extensive sushi and sashimi menu, plus Chinese and Japanese selections – it was a very well rounded menu! They have lunch specials too but not on Sundays. We did not try any of the sushi offerings. Staff was cheerful, friendly, and courteously prompt. On Sunday mornings the restaurant has live music. Today was a nice trio singing uptempo hits from the 70s-80s. Not my husband’s choice for music at all but even he agreed they were good background music. Nice change from the traditional. The interior is beautiful! Very well appointed and modern and comfortable. The light fixtures and wall art were intriguing. I bet it’s lovely at night but I thought it was great in the daytime as well. Exotic floor covering in the lobby & restrooms, sort of a metallic tile with a floral pattern. I’d never seen anything like that before. Our waitress said the owners were going for an upscale feel, like a NYC vibe and I think they did a great job. All in all, a bit pricier than we would normally spend on lunch, but for a relaxed family visit and the ambiance, we didn’t mind spending a bit more for the luxury. We will definitely return for another meal!

I always enjoy the sushi at Silk Road. They do some unique rolls for the area. If you have the sushi urge it is worth your time to try it. My little girl always gets the kids lo mein and enjoys it. My wife likes the curries.

We’ve been traveling since Thursday and eating some fast food and some not fast food. We are in a hotel in Waynesboro and I saw Silk Road on the way to the hotel. I am a huge fan of Asian cuisine. So I looked it up on Unilocal and after reading the negatives(spoiler trolls frequently write bad reviews) and the positive reviews, I decided to try them. The food was very good. The server was charming(sorry, I don’t retain names very well). The service was prompt and again the food was delicious. We started sharing an order of steamed pork and scallion dumplings. Honestly, not the thinnest dough I have ever had, but far from the thickest. Usually the dough is too thick. The dough was acceptable and the filling was just exceptional. My wife had the Teriyaki Chicken and she was impressed. I tasted the chicken and it was delicious. I had the fried Udon noodles with chicken. I can’t say enough. When the server saw me scooping up the remnants with a spoon, she stated that she hadn’t tried this dish yet but she would for dinner that night. If you are in the area and like Asian cuisine, don’t miss this place.

Awful. Everything was under par. Had low mein-it was ok but paid dollar more for vegetables and really didn’t get much… miso soup was just not good… hot n sour soup was oddly thick and slimy. The worst wad the sushi… horrible just look at picks… how is that tuna??? Oh. And to go box had dust or dirt or something in it plus a hair… gimme a break! Might not be able to see in picture

I am a road salesman. I have been making my way from Huntington, WV to Richmond, VA. I took a bind shot at this exit looking for dinner. From the outside, I probably would not have come in. Luckily, I checked Unilocal for reviews, and decided to «risk» it. THISPLACEISFANTASTIC! I sat at the bar, and Kendall made me feel right at home. The food was AMAZING. I will be adding Silk Road to my favorite list. Stop in, and tell Kendall I referred you!

The sushi is fresh and the red curry beef is amazing. The only negative thing I can say is that it is full of waitresses that give you the impression that you are a burden and don’t want to be there. That is why I do strictly take out

Happy hour extravaganza. Great drinks. Great food. And great service. This was the second time we stopped on the way to Virginia Beach. It was delicious both times. Will make this a yearly visit.

More fancy than a typical Chinese restaurent… nice bar, pretty lighting at night, locAtion right by interstate and some hotels… We got takeout entrees and sushi, which was good, probably better when it’s not taken out tho… I’ll go back, like want to hit lunch and the pineapple chicken…

The gloriously tacky décor adds to my enjoyment of this place. So far I have had their food twice, first as takeout and then on a date with my husband. Very satisfied both times. Fresh food, seasoned well. Thumbs up.

Excellent service and great food. We ordered Pad Thai, Nabeyaki Udon, Sautéed Udon, Teriyaki Tofu, and Chicken in Garlic Sauce. Everything was nicely prepared and delicious. Serving sizes were pretty good too. Nice modern décor as well.

Update: My fav dish from here so far is their Sweet & Sour Chicken, which had a tasty tempura batter & lightly fried, but so much nicer than a similar ‘chicken fingers’ dish from other places, which is often too heavy. This is light yet very tasty, with a choice of fried or white rice. I also got the Crab Rangoon, which is made with crab & cream cheese & is awesome. I’m still always pleased with their packaging for take-out. Wish other restaurants would learn from them, because our food is always still piping hot by the time we get home 30″ later!

Consistently great! Long story short… I eat here a lot! From the outside, you may be skeptical. There are fake trees outside that are always lit, purple and green and red. They’re pretty cool actually, so don’t be deterred, be interested! The minute you walk inside it’ll all make sense. This place is fresh out of Vegas or something, it’s not tacky at all, but it’s tastefully decked out. Every inch of the restaurant is detailed, from the orange leather booths with crystal buttons to the intricate marble bathroom floors. It would be a great date night or a group outing. They decorate big for holidays too! Food: Yes to all the sushi, their displays are whimsical and you can tell they take pride in presentation. Hibachi boxes, my go-to. Everything is cooked and sauced well, it’s so good and I pretend its not that bad for me. The mixed veggies are squash, carrots, red onions, broccoli and mushrooms. Curry dinners. The yellow curry is amazing. It packs a mild heat and so much flavor, I love curry and this is a favorite! I haven’t had drinks here, but they always advertise these huge delicious looking mixed drinks and fish bowls, if you’re looking for a night with cocktails this might be the place for you! *most recently I saw a banner outside for a DJ Saturday and«Dress Code Enforced» aka they might double as some kind of night club?! Apps: crab rangoon has a good amount of filling, not just shell! And edamame is a large serving. In general you get large servings of food so take that into account with your ordering!

This place is fantastic. It looks like your average Asian restaurant on the outside, but is nice inside, and the food and service was great. They have Thai, Japanese and Chinese, and the(great) waitress said they have one chef from each place. It shows! I was there with my parents and two cousins who live nearby, and the tempura shrimp appetizer was very well done, plus tasty fried oysters with a really good red sauce. I got Thai yellow curry with seafood, and it was very good. Fresh, well-seasoned and with a building spiciness. Others at our table got other curries or udon, and all was delicious. We all either cleaned our plated or ate until we were stuffed. There’s a full bar(my cousin got a tasty Mai-Tai) and the service was really good too, very attentive and helpful. I’d definitely got back in I’m in the area.

Great food and great service. We have eaten lunch twice in last 2 weeks. We are moving to Staunton and looking for new favorites. I have had General Tso and tangerine chicken, extra spicy. Working my way through the menu. My girlfriend had shrimp with lobster sauce both times. We order spring roll and egg roll appetizer. Everything was great. We will definitely be back.

Ok so I guess the ENTIRE ghetto comes out on Saturdays. Don’t like the fact that it’s strictly rap music and that they DONT instruct the dress code. Guys come in looking ghetto with hats and boots on. But if you like that kind of stuff then this is the place to be on Saturdays!

Great NEW Asian restaurant in Waynesboro, VA. Whether you are a local or traveling on I-64 or I-81, it’s worth the stop. Brand new décor with a beautiful neon blue & pink bar with tables and booths throughout. I had the Gozilla Roll with sashimi on the side while my wife had a nice chicken & string beans in garlic sauce dish. My sushi was fresh and delicious. I had to order a second order of salmon it was so good. The waitress was on point. Attentive, polite, and quick. The menu has Chinese and Japanese dishes with a couple Thai dishes. Everybody in the restaurant was smiling and eating their chow. I’ll be back!

[UPDATE] Silk Road recently updated their menu… and their prices. The $ 12 Pineapple Chicken with Fried Rice my wife had is now $ 15 due to a $ 2 meal increase and a new $ 1 surcharge for Fried Rice. The Hibachi Chicken & Steak with Fried Rice is also $ 15 now, up from $ 13. The other entrees, appetizers, and desserts we ordered in our two visits have stayed the same price, but it’s pretty poor form to increase prices so dramatically so soon after opening. [ENDUPDATE] This restaurant is a great addition to the Waynesboro dining scene and provides a great selection of Asian(Chinese, Japanese, Thai, etc.) options to choose from. If you’re looking for a nice place to have a delicious Asian meal that is a MAJOR step up from buffet food, go here! === THEGOOD === — Food. My wife and I tried a lot of different options and were overwhelmingly pleased with everything. We each had Egg Drop Soup, and shared a Crab Meat Roll, Sesame Chicken, Pineapple Chicken, Pork Egg Roll, and Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura. While the food isn’t going to get any Michelin stars, it’s certainly some of the best, if not THE best, Asian food in the area. It’s certainly worth the price! If you order the Pineapple Chicken, make sure you get something else to go with it because it’s VERY sweet. — Dessert. I’ve separated this from«Food» above because most Asian restaurants are terrible with dessert. You have a delicious meal, then get dessert and wish you had just stopped with the meal and gone elsewhere for some ice cream. Thankfully, this place gets it right… in a BIG way!!! My wife and I shared the Tempura Cheesecake(NY-style cheesecake fried tempura-style) and Tempura Ice Cream(ice cream fried tempura-style). They were both AWESOME! In fact, we both commented that the next time we visit, we’ll order a bit less dinner food and have more room for dessert! — Décor. Once you’re inside, you’d be hard-pressed to figure out how the restaurant used to be a Shoney’s. They’ve COMPLETELY remodeled the place and it’s a much better experience than what the old Shoney’s had become and many other Asian restaurants. — Service. Other than one brief bit where my wife and I needed more drinks, our server was attentive, helpful, and overall pleasant. She did a great job describing the dishes we had questions about and also shared some of her experiences with the food. I’ll point out that our server(and many of the others we saw/heard) spoke native English simply because it can difficult to get information about dishes and/or make special requests with servers who are not native English speakers. === THEBAD === — No Kids Menu… yet! According to our server, they’re working on a new menu. The new menu is being done mostly to correct spelling mistakes, but they’ll also be adding some kid-specific options. In the meantime, there’s always Sweet & Sour Chicken(sauce comes on the side) and some other options from the full menu. — Suggested Tips. If Emily Post recommends 15−20%(pre-tax) for wait service(sit down), then why on Earth are there suggested tips listed at the bottom of my bill STARTING at 18%, then going up to 20%, 25%, and 30%!!! 30%!!! Are you kidding me? Sorry, Management, but this isn’t NYC. Not even close. Do your servers a favor and list the traditional(on a bill) 15%, 18%, and 20% so patrons don’t get sticker shock and just leave $ 1/person. The higher percentages come across as you being completely out of touch with the community… and the rest of the restaurant world. — Street Sign. The main, large sign by the street is beyond difficult to read. If you’re not looking at the building or know to look for the green and pink-lit trees(hint, hint), then you might miss this place. Management should get a new sign created that doesn’t have that distracting background that blends with the restaurant name. What’s weird is that the rest of the design of the restaurant is great(see: «Décor» above). The sign is a complete anomaly in that regard.

Silk Road Asian Restaurant is the very latest restaurant to open in Waynesboro(in a convenient location nearby exit 94 for I-64). Like many people who live in Waynesboro, I’d watched the refurbishing of the former Shoney’s building over the past few months with great curiosity. There wasn’t much of a hint as to what sort of restaurant this would be, besides its serving some type of Asian cuisine. As of last week, the entire building was lit up inside and out and it was obvious that the mystery would soon be resolved. So, on Valentine’s Day weekend, my wife & son were clamoring to go have dinner at the newest addition to the local dining scene. I agreed eagerly, because I was just as anxious as they were to try it out. From the outside, Silk Road looks a bit different, especially with its lighted trees with unusual pastel-colored lighting. There’s some electric-blue lighting from the inside of the restaurant adding to the illumination, and the entire business truly stands out from the street. Once you walk inside, the entry foyer and the front counter are very nice, a bit elegant even. As you head further back into the main dining area, your initial positive impressions are reinforced by a large bar with plenty of glass(the source of the electric-blue lighting) and the general tastefulness of the dining tables and the rest of the furnishings. Once my family and I were seated, we looked over the menu and the mystery of the restaurant was solved: it’s an Asian fusion/pan-Asian sort of cusine. In other words, you can have: 1) Chinese, 2) Japanese, 3) Thai and 4) Asian fusion dishes here. Also, there’s a fairly full sushi menu(although we didn’t try that), Japanese hibachi dishes, and various Thai curries and pad Thai. My wife and I decided to go with the Asian fusion menu & ordered the red snapper(her) and the mango shrimp(me). The dishes came back in about 25 minutes, and they were good. I can tell you about the mango shrimp in detail – it was a tasty blend of large juicy shrimp, generous slices of fresh mango, red and green peppers, onions and a very well balanced sauce that really complemented the other parts of the dish. That was some fine shrimp. My son ordered hibachi fish(salmon, I think), and he also enjoyed his meal. With dessert and drinks, the total cost was around $ 60 for the three of us, before we added the tip. So, by Waynesboro standards, it’s about like a trip to the Outback Steakhouse, but, frankly, I prefer the food at Silk Road. My biggest relief upon eating here was that it was a la carte and not a buffet. The quality of the food is good, the portions large, and the place is more peaceful to eat in than the average local buffet. By «peaceful,» I just mean more settled; Silk Road had a moderately high number of diners the evening we visited, but they were just a well mannered bunch. So, I give high marks to the atmosphere of the place. We do plan on going back to Silk Road soon. It’s a welcome addition to the Waynesboro restaurant scene and I think you get good value as a patron there considering the large portions and the quality of the food. The management seems to have control over things and the place is well run.
