This place cannot be closed down but sadly it seems that ITIS. A paper sign posted on the door and phone calls directed to fax. From what I understand, This place has been here for quite awhile. Really good Indian food in the Clearlake area. Not to mention, the presentation and concept of this place was unlike any other Indian restaurant in business i’ve seen in Houston. Photos and posters of India’s entertainment stars covered the rear seating area. Full bar. Dim lighting accompanied by constant music videos and movies enhanced, and pleased your visual experience. A comprehensive menu with variety of dishes from different regions in India. It is all too bad it fell off.

How is this place still open? Rude service, nasty food and filthy restrooms! Will never be back!

I’ve been here a few times, but most recently for the buffet lunch this past Sunday. The last time I had been here was a few years ago, and I wasn’t that impressed with it so had to give it a rest for a while. Anyway, after deciding to give it a second chance, I’m still not impressed with the food here. The actual buffet on the weekends includes goat, fish, chicken, vegetarian dishes, chaat, and dosas. I am pretty sure you don’t get the full spread on the weekdays(at least I know for sure not the dosas). Anyway, we did have some dosas made for us but they were plain and tasteless. The goat was the best, though a bit spicy. Most of the other dishes were really just lacking taste. The service was fine and the inside of the restaurant is good too. Overall, I just would rather go to another Indian buffet nearby over this one.

After a long drive from Corpus Christi, Mom really wanted a good dosa, thats her indian soul food. A quick Unilocal search on the app showed a dosa in the main photo for Bombay Tadka. A very nice Mumbai theme concept. the dosas were perfect, crispy. Sambhar and filling were delicious. The paneer tikka or makhani depending on how much gravy you get… was also very flavorful and had a great balance of spice and sweetness cooked right in. The stand out was the freshness of the paneer. Naan was clearly made in a tandoor which is why Bombay Tadka gets all stars. It could be that we got that home away from home feeling while eating here. The staff was very polite and we didnt have to wait much at all for our food. We ate here for dinner on a wednesday night and it was pretty much empty around 8pm. maybe the weekends are busier? I would give this place a try for sure. they also have a Indo-Chinese menu which looked good but we could only eat so much at once!

Saturday buffet(vegetarian dishes review): I was in the area so decided to go there looking at Unilocal reviews. Food below average !!! Not even 1 Paneer dish in the buffet, that was a big turn off for me. Plain rice and veg fried rice both were uncooked. Could not eat even one spoon. Naan was decent and hot. Buffet comes with dosa as well… decent dosa. Did not like coconut chutney, very very watery. The guy who was the waiter there seemed too have a big attitude, or at least that’s the impression he gave. Bottom line, for 12.94 $ with tax,.complete waste of money if you are a vegetarian.

I was rather disappointed with the lunch buffet today, which has changed a lot from last time I came here for lunch, only a couple months ago. Unlike other times I’ve been here for lunch, the dining room was nearly empty. I soon found out why. On the plus side, the server did bring warm naan to the table, and there was an interesting carrot halwah which was an unusual but tasty dessert item. On the minus side was pretty much everything else. They used to offer idli to go with the sambar, but now the idli is gone. Also gone are the pakoras, malai kofta and daal makhani. The goat curry was mostly bone with very little meat. There was a chicken dish I tried but the chicken meat was grisly and practically inedible. How do you screw that up? Their cholay used to have a nice spicy kick, now it’s just bland tomato-flavored chick peas, boring. Out of frustration, I tried their split yellow daal soup, which was okay but nothing special, at least it wasn’t offensive. Even the gheer has gone downhill, it no longer has pistachio slices, it’s just rice pudding with minimal spices added. If I’m going to pay $ 12 for the buffet, it should be a lot better than the other Indian buffets in the area that cost less. Unfortunately, there is nothing about this buffet to recommend the higher price. There are at least two other Indian lunch buffets that charge less and have comparable items now. I’m not sure if Bombay Tadka is trying to cut corners, or trying to gain a bigger crowd by sacrificing flavor. When I buy Indian food, I expect spice. If I wanted a hamburger, I’d go to Whataburger around the corner, just saying. In hindsight, a hamburger cooked with garlic-ginger paste and garam masala, and served with mint chutney on a naan sounds pretty awesome by comparison.

Even this single star rating is for their service only… On a hungry morning, me with my buddies came here for a buffet. Very less items, and very very very hostile to your taste buds. You can easily find that all the items are made before one week, especially the non-veg servings: Goat, Chicken, Biryani & Fish. I think they are not concerned about customers health, even we found lot of hair in all rice items(might be there in curry items also, because of gravy we couldn’t find much in curries). Forget about the taste of those items, but at-least they should serve hygienic food to their customers. And finally«I am writing this with a slight stomach upset»… And i definitely never visit this place, and i won’t recommend to any as per my experience.

My daughter and I tried the buffet on a Saturday. We arrived just as they opened at noon. The food did not appear fresh, in fact it looked like reheated food from the day before and even then many of the dishes were lukewarm. I’m giving 2 stars for the friendly staff who didn’t charge my daughter,(she barely touched her food) and the naan was hot and fresh. The quality of the food was on par with a mall buffet.

Overdue to write this, as we’ve dined here about three times now … last week being the most recent, and overall pleased with food and service. We’ve had their lunch buffet before, which is very good in my opinion and priced consistent with similar Indian cuisine in the area. Their ‘fusion’ menu includes some oriental selections, but I tend to lean toward the more traditional biryani, korma, and vindaloo selections. It was late afternoon Saturday, so the place was not busy, and we ordered off the menu as the buffet hours had concluded earlier. Our server was pleasant and mentioned they had a fair amount of catering that day, in case our food was slow to arrive. Fortunately, this was not the case at all. We’d ordered lamb-based entrees, mild and mildly spicy respectively. Also added a garlic naan bread side, which was excellent. The entrée portions were well-prepared and we even had extra to take home, surprisingly, our dog is also fan of Indo-Pak food now and begs for leftovers, so long as its not too spicy :) We had good service, except for a small mix up resulting in extra entrees mistakenly added to our check. Fortunately, our server quickly acknowledged the error, apologized, and resolved it. Hope to visit here again.

I loooove Indian food. I had to think a while before deciding whether to give this place four or five stars. A friend and I eat here almost every Friday when we’re both in town. The food is good, but we come here because it’s usually quiet enough we can talk, though not today. We do their lunch buffet. I usually get a little of most everything on the steam table. I often skip the goat. It’s tasty but it’s a struggle to work past the bones. The service is usually average, never excellent and sometime below average. Fortunately you don’t need much service since you mostly serve yourself. I’ve never come here a night. I decided on four stars because I like the food at the Mogul on Bay Area Blvd better. We went there for years until he moved to the new place. It’s so loud there you can’t hear yourself think, much less carry on a conversation. ___ I’ve Eaten Out Every Meal for 25 years

My husband is not a fan of Indian food at all so I’ve been trying to convince him that Indian food is really good(especially the naan) and that we should have Indian food together. He finally agreed to it so we decided to give this place a try. We opted for the buffet style lunch. The tandoori chicken was probably the only thing we liked. I like Indian food for the spices and explosion of flavor but this place did not do Indian food any justice! We asked for naan as well but even the naan wasn’t all that great! :( We left disappointed and my husband still isn’t convinced that Indian food is actually VERY delicious. Maybe we should’ve ordered from the menue instead of going through the buffet line but

Once again, Unilocal sent me to a winner! I have been avoiding this place for as long as I can remember, in spite of working at the pool hall merely a block away and driving past it every day for what must have been several years. I’ll admit it, I judged this book by it’s cover. It serves me right to be denied their delicious food for so long.. . BUTNOMORE. I will be back, soon! I want to check out the buffet next time. The interior was nothing like I expected, looking at the exterior. Comfy booths and ambient lighting with bollywood movies running in the background. Very clean and cozy feeling! The menu was pretty impressive. I knew before I arrived that I wanted to try a dosa as an appetizer but everything else was completely overwhelming. The menu is written creatively with painstaking descriptions of each dish. In spite of this, I still needed my waitresses help! She pointed us to the kadai with goat and tikka masala with paneer. We chose the rava masala dosa and 2 naan to go with our meal. The starter sauces on the table were great fun! There was a spicy pickled lemon«dip» that was REALLY intense. Salty, briny, VERY spicy and intensely sour. The green one is the best I’ve ever had anywhere. The reddish brown one, I always stay away from because it tastes like BBQ sauce to me but BF loved that one too. Rava Masala Dosa: Where has this been my whole life?! I’m coming back to try each and every one of the 10 – 12 they listed. a MASSIVE crunchy, lacy crêpe, folded over spicy, flavorful wonderfully cooked potatoes! We ate the whole thing. This was my favorite part. Goat Kadai: this struck a cord in both of us, something deeply nostalgic about this heavily seasoned gravy and rich warm soul food feel of this dish. I can’t wait to try it again, but with paneer next time perhaps. Paneer Tikka Masala: Generous portions of paneer in a rich creamy tomato gravy. The sauce was a little sweeter and milder than I prefer but it was definitely delicious, in spite of that. Naan: WOW! the best! buttery, tender, doughy, crusty. With an overwhelming aroma of hot buttered popcorn and native american fry bread and everything that is good and righteous in the world. 2 ten inch rounds for $ 3!

I have been here a number of times since these guys first opened, the food here is really good! It however is like Bombay very influenced by not just all the foods from all over India but influenced by other cultures like the Orient n the Portuguese. So to come here expecting typical Indian food might be a little off putting. But if your up to experiencing Indian food with subtle influences of other cultures then this is the place to try!

I really try to steer clear of Indian buffets. It’s always the same spread at every buffet, and the high cost foods(the meats and seafoods) are usually not plentiful. You’ve got your tandoori chicken, butter chickens, saag paneers, pakoras, samosas, picked through goat curry… and the fluorescent orange mango pudding and the gulab jamun just sitting in a pool of sugar water. There’s not really much distinguishing this restaurant buffet-wise from the other Indian Clear Lake options. If you really want to go deep with your Indian, you have to order off the menu, and know what you’re doing, or head further into the city and explore Hillcroft and the surrounding areas. Well, there is one thing. The naan. It’s really good, hot and fresh, and served to you continuously. The staff is very friendly as well. If you’re craving Indian buffet, this isn’t a bad option.

Bombay express/café and this is tadka. I never had good experience with indian restaurants starting with Bombay. But this one is really special. The lunch buffet was very good. Especially the south indian food like vada, idly and sambar were very fresh and tasty. They had a very good way of serving Naan. They bring it when you need it to your table instead of filling the buffet and becoming dry and tasteless. The naan was very soft and good !!! The ambience was very okay filled with pictures of bollywood actors and actress. There were lot of veggie curries for vegetarians. We were on our way to Galveston and we found this restaurant. If you are visiting Nasa and you want to eat good Indian food then this is the place. Love it. Please maintain the quality.

A birthday party brought us back here and the third time was definitely the charm. I finally have a handle on this place. We’ve found one thing worth going back for: Dosas! They are huge crepes wrapped around steamed potatoes, served with a side of warm soup and a couple of dipping sauces. My favorite is the Rava Dosa, the onions on the outside give it a crunchier texture. It’s a sharable size and will fill you up if you sandwich it between the chili paneer appetizer and sips of mango lassi.

Visited this place for lunch today with a friend. First thing I noticed: the décor inside is… elaborate…for the clear lake area, and their plates and silverware didn’t come from Libby or Sysco. The all-you-can-eat lunch buffett is OK, although not as good as Mogul’s on Bay Area at Space Center. Some of the dishes had a «over-cooked in the crock pot» flavor — as if they sat on the burner too long(maybe they don’t have much turnover) The Saag Paneer was dark and almost carmelized, but the Chicken Tikka Masala was OK, and then Biryani was good. The Naan was a bit dryer than I was used to but the Bhatoora was excellent — in fact, I have not seen Bhatoora in many Indian or S.E. Asian restaurants in Houston. Rice pudding and Mango pudding were their«dessert» offerings, and were good, although the mango pudding reminded me more of something I would have in Mexico than in an Indian restaurant. All in all, this is a fair restaurant, although I still prefer Mogul’s down the road. I might come back and try their a-la-carte dinner buffet and see if some of the«over-cooked crock pot» flavor was just a result of sitting in buffet warmers too long.
