I found the business card for Dhaba in my wallet and called the number today. A gentleman answered and I asked him about the restaurant. He said yes they’re closed. I asked if he was going to reopen and he said yes, in the same spot. So I’m hopeful they will do that and sooner rather than later. I’ll keep watching when I drive by.

I think I have eaten in every Indian restaurant in the Rochester area and Dhaba is definitely my favorite. Having been a long time customer at Thali, I have always rated them as best until now. Though smaller with fewer buffet selections, Dhaba’s flavors are more robust and consistent than their competition.

Although the food is very good. The wait was very long. The cook was also the waiter until finally anther person showed to wait on tables. If you have a lot of time it is worth the wait.

The lunch buffet is great! You cant beat the price either. A nice assortment of spicy and mild foods. All of the chicken dishes are great. Friendly staff and owners. A great cozy place to come pig out on yummy food, might even be better than Thali. They have really good garlic naan. Very flavorful rice pudding and other desserts too.

Husband & I went for the lunch buffet today, 12:45pm on a Friday, toward the end of the traditional lunch rush, and we got the last table. Glad to see the place so full. Food was fresh and good, as always. Dhaba is our go-to place for Indian food these days. So happy we no longer have to drive to Henrietta for Lamb Curry or Chicken Makhani. Vindaloo, Rogan Josh, and Biryani, and the veg. dishes are also good.

Food selection is great. I have been for the Lunch buffet several times now. Staff is friendly and helpful and explained to me what some of the dishes were.

Pretty good place. Tried the Aloo Goobi, that’s my standard for Indian restaurants, and it was average. Would go back for the buffet, we did the dinner today. It’s nice that rice actually comes with the entrée. Naan was good, slightly undercooked though. The menu needs a proof reader, some English language issues. This place could do a bit more advertising, it does deserve more buzz. Expect to wait after the order placement, about 25 mins. Staff was friendly enough. Give it a try!

Chicken Makani, Samber and dosa is really good. I tried lunch buffet $ 8.99 ! Price is very low but taste is so authentic. They just reopen recently so they will put more curry later soon.

Good Indian food for a fair price. They deliver locally which is also a benefit. This food is as close as you get to the real thing anywhere. Fantastic curries and good tandoori. It may get a little to real as the raita seems to be made if sheeps or goats milk, which gives it a gamey flavor but I still enjoyed it. I have asked for mint chutney and have yet to get any, but for a quick start up, I love this place. Hopefully they will build in their menu. Would love to see Papadum and more chutney. Give them a try if you are hungry for some chicken, lamb or vegetarian based Indian food. Nice people that run the place.

Great hospitality, relatively cheap food compared to other Indian places. Decent take out portions. Food itself is very delicious, generous portions and flavorful. Would recommend if anyone wants relatively inexpensive and decent Indian food. Keep in mind, it is not a fancy restaurant, keep your expectations at bay !

I have never been to India but I would imagine that the food can’t be much better this this restaurant. Its only been in place for 4-months and is pretty barren inside. Plastic forks/knives on napkins dress the small tables. Soda fridges are out in the open so this location definitely serves itself mores for takeout — as far as atmosphere goes. No decorations anywhere in the establishment so if you are looking to impress a date — don’t start here unless you are dating a foodie! The food was remarkable. While I was waiting for my takeout order I was given a free rice pudding. I have never had rice pudding before this. It was a little watery with rice floating and some golden raisins. It was interesting — I could only take a few bites but it was good. I think I would have liked it better if it was creamier, just from a texture standpoint, but I have no idea if watery is what it’s supposed to be! I ordered Lamb Vindaloo, Naan, and Samosas. I have eaten at several local Rochester/Webster Indian restaurants but never like this. I had a food moment when I bit into the Samosa. It was fresh and you can tell hand made. It was overstuffed and absolutely delicious. The Naan was perfectly grilled with a bit of sweetness. And the main attraction, the lamb, was outstanding. It was perfectly cooked, at the medium heat I asked for, with herbs and potatoes surrounding it. I cannot wait to try more of their options. Highly impressed. I truly hope they are a success in Webster, where really good«foodie’ options are hard to come by. Good Luck!

My husband and I are great lovers of Indian food — he’s British and I lived in England for 8 years, so we have eaten a lot of Indian food from the cheapest of take-out to high-end dining. Dhaba’s food is right up there with the best Indian food we’ve ever had. We started with bhajias and some potato pakora and they were both light, fresh, and delicious. The naan bread was beautiful, and both my paneer makhani and my husband’s lamb vindaloo were spiced to perfection. Whoever the cook is at Dhaba, s/he knows flavors and spices — the balance of heat and flavor was perfect. Don’t go expecting fancy; this is not a place to impress your boss or a first date. The food is served on paper plates and in take-out containers, and the cutlery is white plastic, but the food is exquisite. The prices, too, are very reasonable. I highly recommend the masala chai(especially on these cold winter days) and the strawberry lassi for a sweet treat afterwards. DON’T miss this place — it’s a gem!!! EDIT added 10/25/15 — We’ve finally had a chance to go back to Dhaba after their renovation and while it is still not 5-star dining, they now have glasses and plates and real silverware! It is still a small place, but they seem to have started a lunch buffet and expanded the menu. The food is still magnificent: I had Aloo Gobi(potato and cauliflower curry) and my husband had his lamb vindaloo — both dishes were perfect, and their masala chai is one of my favourites. They are also wheelchair accessible now! EDIT added 1/22/16 — we are in mourning!!! It can’t be true but it appears it is: Dhaba has closed for business. How a place this wonderful can fail is beyond me — is it just that people don’t want Indian food? was it the location? Just heartbroken… please please please reopen!!! the world needs more great Indian restaurants like this(rumor has it that some Mediterranean restaurant is taking over the spot… yeah; we NEED more spaghetti houses in Rochester… ugh). Praying that Dhaba reopens.

The food is much better than what we expected when we saw the place at first. So don’t go by the location or place, just give it a try. we went thinking that we will just try, we ordered samosa chana chat and Palak paneer. Believe me both the dishes were awesome. Loved it… One problem is they don’t have everything available all the times…

After hearing some good things about Dhabu at work, my wife and I decided to try their takeout. We both had vindaloo, wife had chicken & I had Lamb along with an order of garlic naan. We ordered our food at the store after reading menu we were told 15 mins, actually took 10. Staff was friendly and helpful — even provided us with a complimentary taster of their rice pudding. Neither my wife or I normally would eat rice pudding– but we tried it & enjoyed. When we made it home we really enjoyed the food and both discussed how amazing it would be if they delivered. It turns out that they do deliver & we will be ordering again.
