My second time at this flea, and still as cool as I remembered it. Just two HUGE«Flea Market Bummers» stand between making this the flea market of my absolute dreams. First off, you can only go on Mondays-whose got time for dat?! Second, you can’t shop with your cold frosty beer in hand, instead you are pretty much corraled into a drinking den without any music or a/c, and held captive until said time when you have made absolute sure that you have downed your beer, and also not enjoyed it one bit therefore taking all the fun out of that facet of flea-marketing. Yes, that’s is a verb in Florida and it has to be done correctly, and in full redneck regalia. Rules standing in the way of such behavior will cost the establishment precisely one star. Two in this case!

This flea market is ONLYONMONDAYS. Very large flea market. Easy to get lost in. The section over near row Z seemed to have some of the best stuff, including a shop ran by a fella named Joe with beer(mostly Budweiser) commemorative items. They have plenty of food on site, and they do serve what they claim to be the«coldest beer in towne.» Only problem is that you can’t walk around with it. Maybe some weird open container law in Marion County? I don’t know, but I didn’t like the idea of being confined to a «cold beer» lockdown, especially since they were closing soon. I’d like to take a day off some Monday and get a better gander, so I will definitely be back. It is note worthy to mention that there is a farm fresh country restaurant on premises, and that seriously excites me.

Absolutely gigantic. Despite the acreage, it’s always crowded here. The walks through all the covered vending areas and acres of fields that are also packed with vendors are long, though, so if getting fresh produce is what you have in mind, go get that first before the selection dwindles or disappears entirely. Prices range from reasonable to a little on the high side. If you have any trouble walking, be sure to bring a wheelchair or motorized scooter if possible. The fields are not as accessible as the buildings, but the buildings themselves are long and tedious to get through. Just about anything you could want, short of really big items, is sold at this market. Keep looking and you’ll find your treasure somewhere! There’s the inevitable array of cheap imported junk, as well. Why this market is held on Mondays is a mystery. It’s packed regardless, but you’d think they’d hold it on a weekend. So let the customer beware — if the Monday you pick is also a HOLIDAY, lines of cars trying to get into the town will be MILES long, it’s going to be almost impossible(and expensive) to find parking and the aisles of the vendor buildings are going to be completely jammed with people!
