Went there last night with my husband and a friend. My friend has been there before and loves it. My husband and I on the other hand will NOT go back. My husband wanted Linquine and Alfredo but they were out of the cheese to make it. He is not a chicken lover and NO veal. What Italian restaurant doesn’t have veal, this one. My husband ordered sausage, peppers over pasta, just OK. I ordered Chicken Marsala which was just OK served with canned mushrooms YUK. Pasta and sauce was ok. The garlic bread like someone else said was just a toasted hogie roll with garlic powder and butter, salad was fair at best. Dressing was very strong.

Been here an hour and are still waiting for food, we did get garlic bread which tasted mediocre and the salad which tasted awful. Service is horrendous, the waitresses have as much personality as a dead cow. I would not recommend going here even if someone is starving.

I wanted so much to like this place but unfortunately it was very disappointing. I heard this was a Mom and Pop place, not sure if that’s true or not, but that made me want to try it out. It’s a little place that’s nothing to look at, but that’s really not even that important to me, we were just looking for a nice Italian dinner. The menu is extensive, so you won’t find a lack of things to order(I don’t know if that’s good in this case or not). The table was a little sticky, which I didn’t like(obviously) and the service was not good. It took upwards of 10 minutes for someone to even come over to the table to say hello, and yet there were only a few other tables being occupied in the restaurant. His dinner was brought out and then mine followed several minutes later; they brought mine out when they brought out another table’s dinners. It was probably 5 minutes in between him being served and me being served… why not just bring them together? Food OK, but nothing special at all. He said his pasta was not good at all. Before we even had a few bites in, he(I’m referring to my husband) said«we are not coming back here again» and I agreed. If they worked on their service and maybe toned down the menu and featured some special recipes instead of trying to offer every Italian dish possible then this place could be good. maybe?

Awful food. Went here with my mom and she ordered the linguine with garlic and oil. The pasta was over cooked, the garlic came straight out of a jar and the whole dish tasted like metal. I ordered the pasta e fagioli and it was basically beans and Campbell’s tomato soup. Gag.

I think this place is great on an overall rating. Huge portions and a reasonable price. It is classic Rochester Italian food. The atmosphere is basic, but not bad, servers are nice and food is good. I will continue to eat here.

We love this restaurant. Service may be slow, but food is fresh, delicious and the prices are great. We have been going to the Garlic Pit for years.

This place changed used to be great. Could of made better Italian and the service was down right crappy! Young girl had an attitude. Asked 2x for a refill of water never got it. We waited over 45 mins. For our food. Will not be returning ever! No thank you for coming, how’s your food? NOTHING

I came here a while back, and the food was a-ok. Service was lacking a bit, and there was a full house. The portions were huge though, I’ll give them that.

We have heard a lot of positive comments from locals and decided to give the Garlic Pit a try. The place is clean and casual, service was good, menu offered lots of choices and daily specials. Food was excellent with generous portions and prices were very reasonable. We’ll be back.

Fun, good low budget made to order food. My wife had Chicken French and I had lasagna. Chicken French was above average — though a little sloppy. My lasagna was very good — sauce had great flavor. If you read their menu, all is made to order and worth the wait. Wifey and I agree with this assessment. We also ordered a Garlic Pit special appetizer — calamari, clams casino, and breaded eggplant. The breading on the calamari and eggplant had a bit too much corn meal or something. Clams casino was homemade and excellent. We would /will come again.

Mediocre food. So-so service. When we asked about the garlic bread that the menu said came with our meals, the waitress told us they don’t use the oven when it’s hot outside. They were also out of pesto. Pesto? In an Italian restaurant? On the upside, the boxed wine was good.

Best Chicken Parm in Rochester. Prices are very very reasonable, you get a ton of food for the money. Our waitress was great. This is pure and simple homestyle italian cooking. Keep up the good work.

Honestly: I can without a doubt validate everything Johnny said about this place. I just moved to the area and went to the Garlic Pit Pasta House for dinner tonight [Friday night]. How do you screw up spaghetti and meat-balls? Here’s how they do it: make the meat/marinara sauce really watery and then give you about half as much sauce as is ideal for that HUGE plate of noodles beneath it. Garlic bread is – simply — bland. :\ I’m confused as to why it was so busy in there tonight ! Maybe other dishes are better? Honestly, the salad was nothing to write home about, the garlic bread was bland, and the spaghetti and meatballs did not have ENOUGH of that watery marinara/meatball red sauce. At least the meat-balls were decent(and the ice-cold Coors Light went down smooth). It didn’t taste bad, because, well, it really just didn’t taste. Try Infantino’s for some good Italian. The service at The Garlic Pit Pasta House was relatively prompt, but the food was bland and overall«meh«warranting a 2-out-of-5 star rating. Pretty cheap, too, I think.

The harsh fluorescent lighting makes it feel like a warehouse. I asked our waitress how the lasagna was, how the spaghetti and meatballs were, but she said she never had it, even though she has worked there for a year and a half. I asked her if she was vegetarian, she said«no, but you know what it’s like if you’re around the stuff all day.» That’s not a good sign. It must be bad if you NEVER even wanted to try it in all that time. The same waitress cleaned a table right behind us, and sprayed so much windex in doing so that a mist of chemicals washed over to our table. I watched her clean another table and she inadvertently sprayed windex on the salt, pepper and other condiments. ugh. The tomato sauce was sorta watery. Not fresh pasta, dried. The bread they use for the complimentary garlic bread was pretty tasteless. What we had was not that good.
