There are only two good things about this restaurant. 1. The guacomole. 2. The NYC view. Thats just about it though. All the rest of the food was tasteless and disappointing. Especially the chicken! The resturant is in a bad location with barely a parking lot so good luck finding a side street which are mostly one ways to park on. Getting to this restaurant is half the fun *_* can you say traffic? All said and done, don’t believe the hype and DONOTGO.

This place has nice view but the menu is poor and the food is tasteless. The drinks are without alcohol because you paid for a margarita and the give you juice. The service is ok but not good. There were 3 people serving our table and they just don’t communicate each other, all of them ask for the check and if you request something need to request again because you don’t know who will bring it over. Also no kids menu. Bring my mom for her birthday to this place was the worse decision. Everything was expensive for the bad quality.

The food is normally good here! The beans need work tho. Sometimes service can be scattered. The view is beautiful. Charitos is one of the best Mexican restaurants in Jersey and this location is one of the best. Valet parking was packed and parked across the street lol

It’s a shame the review I’m about to write, because I was a loyal customer(as in, at least once a week) for so long, and the food is REALLY good. But, the service is so bad that I have stopped going there and do not intend to return. Jamil, the bartender most nights is the most kind, pleasant and fun person to visit there. However, going on a night when he’s not there means you’re overlooked and misinformed about what’s on happy hour or not. Upon asking what’s included as we wanted to branch out in our margarita ventures, we we told«all of them». After trying the amazing Cucumber Jalapeño one, we ordered a few more. We were shocked to find none of them were half price upon receiving our bill. The bartender curtly told us «I thought you understood that» and quickly offered to escalate it to the manager. The manager came over, told us «you should know this» instead of discussing with the bartender — or hell, taking the $ 20 we’re disagreeing over off and informing us for next time — and said that it is what it is. I politely told her that if she feels overcharging us $ 20 when we consistently come in for dinners and bring large groups of business to them is worth it, then I respect her decision. Sure enough, she didn’t budge. And for that, they have lost our business. Poor service and poor etiquette. Hopefully they’ll learn one of these days.

Unfortunately the service ruined the review. The food was plentiful and delectable, particularly the fresh guacamole, but they took my food away form me when I wasn’t finished. I think the waitress mis-heard me. And they brought my date the wrong dish. They brought her chicken instead of steak. Had to awkwardly wait and munch while her food was cooking. Even though they gave a discount, I cannot give above 3 stars.

The food has no spice. The flavor they had on bergenline is gone and the margarita had very little tequila.

Fantastic! Let me get the one negative I faced here out of the way… The Sangria was watered down to me, although this was after a few margaritas I had elsewhere. It wasn’t worthy of being on the table, all though the homeys felt the same way. They had a 4 page tequila menu, we should have tried it lol. On to the Best part… the Food ! The Guacamole was prolly top 3 Guacamoles I have ever had. They make it table side to your liking, they even had us sample it until we were satisfied with the taste(spicy). The Poblano peppers inside chicken breasts. They flavor was delicious, it could have used a little kick but thats me being picky as usual. The chicken enchiladas were fantastic I’m glad the plate wasn’t any bigger because I would kept eating and eating lol. Mole enchiladas was good but out of the 3 dishes we had this time around. This was least memorable. Look the food rocked! It’s a good enough reason warrant many visits. The 2nd best part which is on the elite level are the Gorgeous views of the NYC skyline. We all know Jersey has the best views of NYC. They have outdoor seating with nice lighting that creates quite the festive vibe. The indoor dinning areas were very nice, open, spacious, huge windows with nice views, and they have an upstairs which felt even bigger than the first floor area. Enjoy the pics and the videos ;) Definitely glad I finally got to check this out. Can’t wait to come back!

Food is good but overpriced for what you get. You are paying for the view. Also not a very vegetarian friendly place. Guacamole is great tho.

It’s been awhile since I had dinner up here. I usually get the snapper. But I decided to have the enchiladas de camarones with mole. I was starving! Omg it was delicious!!! Never disappoints!!!

I absolutely love this place. The food, the view of Manhattan, and of course The Centinela resposado tequila with the oranges and cinnamon. Yummy!

I’m surprised! This California girl who never likes Mexican food on the East Coast actually likes this place. I assumed Charitto’s would be a tourist trap with people crowded by the windows to check out the expansive NYC view, but it seemed to be filled with locals. Granted we dined on a Tuesday evening. Place was packed — I’d definitely make a reso if coming in with more that 2 people or on a weekend. We ordered the guac, which is pretty much a must. Also got the Mocaljete which we started digging into before I could remember to take a picture. Everything was super good and fresh. The drinks looked amaze, I’m preggo so I had to stick with a horchata; but our bartender — Jamil? Was whipping up some excellent looking margs.

I’ve been here twice and I’m surprised at how much I like this place. The view is pretty great, yes, but it would be much more appreciated if they had a rooftop of some sort. However, it is a nice view even if it’s through the windows of the restaurant. This place has two floors, though I’ve never been seated on the second floor as I believe it’s mostly for bigger parties. The food here is expensive, so I guess you pay for that nice view. The guacamole($ 11) is pretty good here, AND it’s made table side… well, ON your table actually, but it is made fresh, in your face so you can see that they do in fact use fresh avocados. The dishes are a bit on too expensive for the quality you actually get but it is tasty. My favorite dish, Sabor Azteca, is pretty good(thin slices of steak, shrimp, 2 chicken taquitos, rice & beans, adorned with pico de gallo, an avocado sauce, and some chipotle mayo). The mayonnaise is my least favorite thing on this plate but overall the dish is pretty tasty, and offers a wide variety of Mexican-American flavors though it lacks that WOW flavor factor you would expect from a $ 23 dish. The chilaquiles are also a favorite of mine, and last time I was here my friend said the«caldo de pollo» was pretty good though I can’t speak from personal experience. The margaritas are usually my favorite part of the meal here, though I usually settle for 1 or 2 as they are quite expensive and although they are small, they certainly pack a punch. Overall, this isn’t the BEST Mexican fare you’ll have, DUH, but it is pretty good, served in a cool environment with an even cooler view. This place is perfect for a date on a warm night, enjoy some margaritas and take a walk on the promenade nearby that offers killer views of NYC.

If your idea of Mexican food is what the local Taco bell serves, then this definitely is not a place for you. I have tried Mexican food at a few restaurants and fast food places and all those places try to do something to please you thereby changing the whole flavor of the Mexican food. From the moment, I entered this restaurant, I felt a sense of getting into a different world. Everything(including service, food and attire) is traditional Mexican. Just loved everything about the place. Personally hate Avocados but after being here, I am a changed man. And to top one of the best meal I have had, this place has probably the best view in the Greater New York city area. Sitting on top of a hill, you will get 360 degree views of the city in all its glory. For a view like that, I would have marked it 5 star even if the food was crappy. But this place adds great food to great views too. Truly amazing.

Parking is not the best but we got lucky and found a close one on the street. As soon as we walked in we were greeted kindly and offered a seat by the window which is great considering the view is amazing! This is not a bad place, we had the passion fruit margarita and it was very good! The food was also very good and well portioned; we did the table guacamole which I think is a must here. Overall good place and very quick, attentive servers!

I love this place! It has a gorgeous view of the city and the décor inside is really cute. The food is delicious and their sangria is awesome. It’s my go to Mexican restaurant. The wait staff have their days. Sometimes they are attentive sometimes they forget to check on your table. Overall it’s a nice place

The food was pretty good. Chips and salsa were authentic, as was the guacamole and rice and beans. I wasn’t overly impressed with the margaritas. For an entrée I had the Enchiladas Verde. I was happy with it. So, it’s nothing to write home about, but it is authentic Mexican. I would go back, but I’m not running to get there.

It’s pretty good! Charrito’s is really the only option for dining in the immediate area. Yes, it’s always busy. Yes, the parking situation is crazy. The food is very good. Definitely get the guac. A generous portion as appetizer for two. The drinks are pretty strong too so get something like a margarita. Overall it’s enjoyable but at midtown Manhattan prices. I guess that’s because of the view of midtown Manhattan. Prepare to spend $$$.

Frozen margaritas were pretty potent; queso fundido app was good but, with sausage and poblano pepper, my buddy and I were bummed that the dish had no heat. «Hot sauce, please!» My beef dish, «Alambre» was also too mild and the steak consistency was not great. Definitely not skirt steak — more like cheaper cuts of blade or chuck. My friend’s Cochinita Pibil(a pork dish) was better. The place is really dark. I get it — it’s great for the views of Manhattan — the skyline really pops against the dark setting — but geez I forgot to pick up my night vision goggles at the base’s PX beforehand so a little light would be nice. Come for the fundido and margaritas. Oh — the guacamole gets good reviews too(we didn’t get the guac).

So I came on a beautiful warm afternoon and sat outside. I must mention I have been here a number of times and it has always been a decent/good experience. It took about 10 minutes before anyone came to our table. Once the server arrived he was very dry and asked if we wanted appetizers. Not even a «Welcome, can I get anyone a glass of water considering its hot outside…» None of that. Shortly after we got our guacamole table side. This gentleman was probably the nicest person we encountered during our meal. I ordered the steak chilaquiles which wasn’t good and my bf ordered the carnitas tacos I believe which he said were good, but could be better. The guac lacked salt and lime, but was still tasty. After we finished our meal we waited another 10 minutes for another person to ask if we were done and take our plates. He clearly didn’t want to be there as he probably said 5 words to us and didn’t even ask if we wanted dessert or the check — we had to hunt him down to get the check. Overall, it was a poor experience service wise and the food was decent. I don’t plan on coming here again. Only thing that I enjoyed was the frozen margarita, the view, and my dinner date.
