Be forewarned, Nick’s is usually packed. A little on the upper side in price. They sure do make a mean burger though. I get the pretzel bun cheeseburger with bacon, chili, pickles and mayo! So good!

I was very happy with my first visit to Nick’s. The staff and owner are very friendly and greet you when you walk in. The menu is simple but you do have a nice variety to choose from. I tried their pimento cheese burger with onion rings. The onion rings were okay since they were frozen. The shining star was the cheeseburger. It was very delicious and oozing with pimento cheese. I would come back here just for the hamburgers. The way they cook them adds a delicious crust and all the components work well together. I ordered a milkshake to go and it was tasty. Next time I would get there hot chips which they make their and try other varieties of burgers.

Hands down the best burger in the area. My favorite is the Pimiento Cheese burger with extra-crispy fries. My kids love the milkshakes and we usually go for the Cheerwine in a glass bottle. Lunch is busy, but that’s not a shocker. Worth the drive and worth the wait.

Took a road trip from Winston-Salem to try Nick’s on a Saturday for lunch. The place was packed with many people waiting for a table. As an individual dining alone, the smallest table was for three so I took that one when it was clear. I ordered a hot dog, a hamburger, and an order of munchers. The hot dog was ok. Lots of slaw and just a little bit of chili. The hamburger was darn good. Crispy outside and juicy inside with a nice bun too. The munchers were a nice treat. People inside were very friendly. I’d return to Nick’s if I was passing through Welcome.

Note: do not use The Yellow Pages Directions(YP app) until they are updated; we had a nice ride through farm land before finally arriving at Nicks Old Hamburger House, however totally worth the wait! Indoor seating for maybe twenty five or thirty and outdoor seating for those who prefer to dine al Fresca! You walk up to the counter to order and pay for your custom flat top cooked burger any way you like it. It is fresh hot and tasty! I flipped the burger over to eat upside down, it just works ! Their chili is soo nice on the fries, burgs, dogs or your fingers too! We arrived shortly after opening and before we left it was already filling up. So plan your visit accordingly. The employees are friendly and the walls have cool old time photos of Welcome, NC. We’ll be back… I am already looking forward to it~

Nicks is amazing. Hands down the best homemade style burger around. Done on the flat top, the burger has this wonderful crunchy exterior and super juicy on the inside. Spectacular. The fries are good. They have some of the best chili around. I recommend to get your burger or dog«all the way». That means chili, slaw, onions, mustard. So on point. So good. Seating can be an issue in the busier lunch times so plan to go a little early or later to avoid issues. Go here and enjoy yourself. It is too good not to go. Ps. Chili cheese fries are the bomb!

This is my second trip to Nicks. My 16 y/o wanted to taste the burger his parents had been bragging about for the past week so we made the 25 min drive from Winston Salem. My son had the double cheeseburger with a side of «munchers». Munchers are these potato, onion, jalapeño and cheese nuggets that are breaded and deep fried. He let me have one and we both thought they were pretty tasty. His opinion of the burger: «awesome, but a little too much cheese». He felt the cheese overpowered the flavor of the meat. That’s what happens when you get the«Double Cheeseburger». Double meat AND double cheese. His was so big he couldn’t finish it. I had the single hamburger. It was just as delicious as the last time which says they care about consistency. I love that! I had mine with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle then a squirt of ketchup I added on myself at the table made it perfect. The patty was perfectly cooked with the crispy crust outside and juicy center only a burger flattened and cooked on a flat-top grill can give you. My onion rings were good, but maybe just a tad too crispy for me. I think they were left in the dryer a bit longer than they should have been. Definitely not a deal breaker and I still ate most of them because they had great flavor. I recommend checking this place out if you want a great burger. It’s near North Davidson HS to give a point of reference. Spoiler Alert: I overheard the employees talking about the possibility of a food truck to take these delicious burgers on the road! Speaking for myself, I would love to see these burgers added to the growing food truck scene!

One of the best burgers ever! And ½ the price of gourmet burger joints. The bottom bun quickly dissolves into the juicy meat, but you can pull off the lettuce from the top to reinforce the bottom. Or eat your burger upside down is another option. But once you pick this bad boy up, you won’t want to put it down. Service was quick and friendly and the burger is a bargain for the quality you get. I like the burgers at 5 Guys, Bad Daddy’s, TJ’s Deli, Big Burger Spot, Burger Warfare, In-N-Out, Tommy’s and Hop’s Burger Bar… And this place hangs with all of those favorites of mine.

The local radio station, WSJS, was doing a segment recently on the area’s best burgers, and someone called in and mentioned Nick’s in Welcome. We live in the Midway area and had to try it. We were not disappointed! We have truly found the best burger around.

Sometimes a little crowded, they should expand their business but overall 10 stars! We love this place, friendly service as well!

I’m not even sure how to begin this review. This place is the best, thats just all there is to it. Thats it. End of story. Número uno. If you are searching for the best burgers anywhere and I do mean anywhere then look no farther. If you dont want a burger then go somewhere else. This is for hamburger lovers only as far as I am concerned. Sure they have other items on the menu, but they are totally irrelevant. Like a lot of good burger joints the parking gets a little tight at times. Inside the place is small with not much room. You order at the cash register and wait for your number. A big no-no in my book and normally I would rip you for it, but the burgers are so good that I just dont care. And thats why we are here in the first place right? Burgers. All of the burgers are cooked to order. So you will wait for them to be cooked. The thing that sets Nick’s apart is the taste. The actual burger meat. Any idiot can cook a burger to order, and plenty do, but you have to have quality ingredients, starting with and mainly the hamburger. Again some claim to but do they really? No. Nick’s angus hamburger meat is the best I have had. Its juicy without being greasy, very flavorful, and rich like fresh meat is supposed to be. Always cooked to perfection. A lightly toasted bun gives way to your choice of toppings, and you pick the number of patties. Up to 5!!! Well above average in size most good ‘olé boys will have a tough time putting away a double cheeseburger! What about price. Double cheeseburger combo with fries and a drink. $ 9.05. Holy crapp somebody wake me up I just died and went to hamburger heaven! Its amazing that for less than a 10 spot, this place in the middle of nowhere has done what so many gourmet burger spots have tried to do. The cheese is perfectly melted into the nooks of the hamburger, and on top of that it tastes like cheese. Not processed cheese product. You think its not rocket science to make a good cheeseburger. and its not. But again why is it so hard to get a good cheeseburger even from a high end burger only joint? Its back to the hamburger meat, and caring about your product. Something Nick’s has done better than any competitors. The people working here care about the food they serve. Thats the difference. Best of all worlds.

We stopped off for dinner before the football game at the high school. We weren’t the only ones with the idea and the place was packed! That being said, the staff handled the crowd very well and were on it! They made sure the limited tables were turned quickly and from what I saw worked well together to get out everyone’s meal as quickly as possible. It did take quite a while but as I said they were all on it and doing the very best they could. Now for the important part… The food! I had the cheese burger and fried and the hubby had a double and the hot chips. Both of our meals were excellent! The best burger I’ve had to date since we moved to NC! We will ABSOLUTELY be returning to Nick’s! It’s the kind of meal I won’t soon forget and I’m sure I’ll be craving :)

Old fashioned, flat top hamburger at its best. Good crinkle cut fries. I look forward to visiting my in laws because they are close to Nicks. Cheap, made to order, and really, really good.

This place has been open about 2 years now. It is small, with limited seating, and is located in a small strip center in Welcome. It is a fast food setup — you order at the counter, pay and wait for your order. This is strictly a Hamburger, Hot Dog, & Sandwich place. They do have some combs and some daily specials, as well. This is not fast food, your items are cooked to order, with the buns toasted on the same grill that cooks the burgers and dogs, took nearly 20 minutes to get our order, and we were second in line. The burger is hand formed, cooked on a flat top grill until there is a nice crust on the outside, This is a very, very good burger — one of the best in the area — and one that could stand up to about any toppings you want, even mustard, chili, and onions. I had it with just mayo and pickles — outstanding. Cheese burger goes for $ 3,85 The hot dog was just ok — nice, all beef wiener, but weak, thin chili which lacked flavor. The bun in placed open face on the grill so that the inside is toasted, not my particulary choice for toasting a hot dog bun. So, I’d pass on the HD, especially at $ 2.05. The FF are the infamous ridged boards, and little or no salt is added as they come out of the fryer — therefore impossible to salt later. The Onion Rigs were clearly a frozen product, but were tasty and fried crispy — both at about $ 2. This is a destination Burger, everything else is ordinary at best. I’d call in an order next time to avoid a 20 minute wait. The 4 Stars are for the Hamburger.
