Oh dear. Do you want the good news or the bad news? The good news: There are beautiful, locally made pieces of art that would put any gift purchased at the mall to shame. There is a large selection of jewelry, clothing, pottery, ornaments, and other individually designed works of art. Most are one-of-a-kind. The bad news, however, is really bad. The gifted artists who make the items sold in the store are also unpaid salespeople and cashiers! What does this mean for you, the customer? Unless it’s her own piece, the artist/salesperson will know very little about the merchandise. It will take you no less than 3 or 4 people(i.e. artist-salespeople) to cash you out, but not before calling other artists on the phone to ask prices of particular items. Expect a minimum 25 minute checkout process.(and this is when there is no one else in the store!). Although I appreciate the unique gifts artists bring to the public, they also have to realize they are running a business in the middle of Wellesley Center. Get some help! Please!
