I really like The Local. The ambiance is great and I always feel like I’m «out» even though I’m in suburban Wellesley, because the energy is high. I think some things on the menu are better than others(the fried brussels sprouts are amazing and unique; the burger is a safe entrée). This is really like a high end pub, so order with that in mind… most people wouldn’t opt for asian noodles at a pub and expect them to be good, so I probably shouldn’t have either. The one issue is the parking. Everytime we go we arrive on edge, concerned about finding a parking spot. Someone will always be leaving as you are coming, so if you have time to be patient it shouldn’t deter you from dining there. We are fans.

I had a great night out at the local, gossiping with colleagues after days of long hours in Wellesley. It was booming on a Wednesday night at 6:30PM – which just goes to show what it means that Wellesley is a «dry town.» It means that this is where everyone is, the one spot in town where you can just get drinks and snacks after work with a friend. We didn’t have a wait for a table for three, but we were the last ones who didn’t. Together we shared the brussel sprouts and truffle fries. Both were good, though the portion of truffle fries could have been a little bigger or the sauce(ketchup) a little more interesting for $ 7. The brussel sprouts were more plentiful and well-cooked, but they had a strange sort of sauce that was at times overpowering and seemed like it should have been paired with a different vegetable. Drinks were fine prices for Boston — which is to say around $ 7 a pint, some were $ 8 which is on the high side. The atmosphere though was really nice. It was non-descriptly nice, not too committed to being hip or high end, just good. I’ll return if I’m ever needing to meet someone in Wellesley, but that feels unlikely.

My wife and I and another couple had brunch at The Local yesterday and it was uniformly excellent. We made reservations but didn’t need them as the restaurant wasn’t full. My wife had the Lox and Bagel and it was fresh and tasty. I had the Huevos Rancheros and they were spicy and delicious. Our friends both had the American breakfast and scarfed them down. The ladies had mimosas and pronounced them perfect. The bill was $ 92. This was our first visit here and we’ll be returning.

My mother and I went there this New Year’s Eve and I had a most enjoyable meal: marinated roasted chicken with mash potatoes and spinach. I can’t complain about the service and the food was quite tasty. The chicken was well seasoned and sufficiently moist. The mashed potatoes were delicious, very natural – no dehydrated potatoes, here! – and had a wonderful but not overpowering garlic flavor. Will return for sure!

Nice place, we decided to come here because the Local in Newton is always so crowded, and this location is hidden behind some stores. We were able to sit down by the bar right away and got served quickly. They have a good selection of beers of tap. We got an order of truffle fries, the mac and cheese, the squash special, short rib and the fried oyster special. Food was great, and was served quickly. The staff was friendly as well. Good place.

If you grew up in Wellesley, the historical pictures on the walls are simply fantastic. Great vibe in the dining room and typically crisp service. The beer selection is top shelf with great selections and reasonably priced flights. All the food that I’ve ordered has either been«very good» or better.

Sat at the bar tonight. Service incredibly bad. More than 30 minutes till my salmon came out. By the time it came, I had finished my wine, and the bar tender never asked if I wanted another glass. Totally ignored me. Food decent but the service stunk. Sorry guys

I am local business owner . Interior is flatering, nice familly atmosphere, however Menu is all over the place! It seams they are not sure what kind of a restaurant they are. Food was good and tasty(Burgers, salad and Truffle pome frites). There is Asian noodle’s, Sushi and bar dishes … Focus! We will be back douse we love our Local!

A great neighborhood spot! The Local is conveniently located off one of the main streets in Wellesley. The staff are very friendly and quite accommodating. The restaurant is clean, kid-friendly, and warm with a nice modern décor. A lot of the Unilocal reviews talk about the fried pickles. Yes, they are fantastic. Crispy, hot, and tangy, They are served with a slightly spicy aioli for dipping. I had the stuffed squash with chicken, blue cheese, and quinoa. I usually would never get something like that but the server suggested it. What a great call. It was delicious. The portion size was perfect. Overall, I will definitely come back to the Local!

This restaurant has lots of kids and crowds until about 815pm, then empties out. That is a great time for adults to arrive. The food is good, especially the appetizers. The warm chips with onion dip, roasted vegetables and buffalo wings were good. Entrees were ok, nothing to write home about. Parking is bad. Service mediocre-lots of young kids who try — but need more guidance. Décor is attractive, very pub like. Overall, a good spot for the burbs.

I have gone to this restaurant many times and enjoy the food a lot. Waiters and waitresses are super nice and the price is right! We especially like the truffle oil parmesan french fries and the garlic roasted mushroom flat breads.

Finally got to try this last evening and found the atmosphere warm and inviting. Lots of dark woods; very upscale pub-by. There was a mix of families with young children, college students, established Wellesley natives, etc. We all said that this is a place we would want to visit often. It felt very comfortable. Our server Ashley was terrific. Now to the food. We started out with an order of spicy wings which were very tasty(baked then flash fried?) and an order of truffle fries. Very nice and crisp. For dinner, five of us ordered two steak tips, two short ribs and one spicy shrimp stir fry. The short rib was very moist and well-cooked served over grits with Brussels sprouts. A solid dish. My wife loved the stir fry. The steak tips disappointed those who had it, noting that the meat was chewy and in one case it looked quite under done. Ashley offered comp desserts for this issue and we had the flourless chocolate cake and chocolate ice cream pie. Both were solid. We walked out liking our experience, but not loving it. We wanted the food to be better as we hoped this might be a «hang out.» With that said, we will give it another try.

Creative menu with a seasonal flare. The specials included an autumn sangria with Apple Cider, Pinot Grigio, and apple & pear chunks. The fried pickles were crispy and came out piping hot. We didn’t leave a single one in the interesting metal container they were served in. The bacon cheeseburger flatbread was not at all what I was expecting. I was expecting a small rectangular flatbread, but it was a full size pizza! I don’t think you can eat at the local without ordering the truffle fries. You can smell a slight hint of them when you walk in the door and then they’re on your mind until your own order arrives. If it seems busy bring your phone in because that is how they let you know your table is ready. They take your name and # and you get a text.

My husband and I were(actually are) looking for a place near our home to hangout and once in a while go and have some drinks and talk. we decided to tryout local last night. At the beginning we were impressed by the ambiance and the spacious seating area. 30 minutes after we sat down(around 5) all the tables were full of families! Not that I have anything against kids or something but I think there were something around at least 20 kids under age of 7. It is a great place for family but if you are looking for a quiet place to enjoy couple of drinks and chat, local is not the best place to go. The food was average. I ordered mushroom flat-bread and my husband had chicken wings. They were both very greasy and oil was dripping all over the table. I guess this place would be good after 9 and just to have a couple of drinks. But to be fair I have to say that the service was great and all the staff were very nice and polite.

Food was fantastic! Service horrible. Half of our food never came out we had to ask for it. Then in middle of eating we asked for another round never brought until we asked again. Water glasses sat empty. We still had food on our plate when the waitress came over and just cleared our plates one without asking and two not even asking if we wanted it wrapped. When the food that we had to remind her about did come we ordered another order of truffle fries those never came either and she just walked up and handed us a check. Horrible unfriendly waitress. I would have given four stars for the food but the experience with the waitstaff totally ruined our experience.

This was our first time here. We have committed to going to a new place each time we eat out! The food was delicious. I enjoyed the stuffed acorn squash with spinach, blue cheese, quinoa a maple drizzle. I added salmon to this dish. The salmon was cooked a little to much and the blue cheese was absent. My husband had the Mac and cheese with lobster, it was awesome. We started with Caesar salad and buffalo chicken wings both were good, the blue cheese dressing for the wings was missing the blue cheese. I enjoyed a Malbec reserve that was on the special menu.

When my boyfriend first took me here I was skeptical because of the atmosphere and I just felt like I wouldn’t be fitting in… So the first time we went I had to leave. Than I gave it another try on a saturday night and it was packed! But it was fun, we stood by the bar getting our drinks before we got seated and despite it being packed we had a good time. Than we got served and the food was amazing! The garlic cheese fries. Omg that’s all I have to say! I dream about those fries. I got the lobster roll for a meal, and it was great! It’s obv more of a richy rich kinda place to go to. I have blue hair and you could just imagine the stares. But I don’t care! The food was worth it!

My husband and I love The Local! It’s a cool inviting vibe and the food is creative and delicious! The bar staff are personable and know their menu(where we usually sit). Their location in Wayland is another favorite of ours. 5 stars all the way :)

I’ve only been here for lunch, but have enjoyed it every time. The staff are always pleasant and efficient, and we like the pub vibe with the black and white photographs of Wellesley decorating the walls. My favorite go-to lunch item is the short rib grilled cheese and the fried pickles — SO good.

Decent late-night spot for the area, but the food is nothing special. My only gripe with The Local is that the full menu stops being served at night. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem, but in order to buy drinks, they require you to purchase a meal(per Wellesley town laws). This makes trying to order slightly frustrating, if you’re visiting for the late night pub. That being said, the atmosphere is great for the quiet area of town. Good music and a variety of seating: there are taller, bar stool-type tables for grabbing appetizers, long open tables, and more private booths. I’ve visited in groups of 3 and parties of 10+, and servers have always been helpful and friendly. Prices seem fair for the portions. Food is decent(nothing spectacular), and cocktails are good enough with a decent local beer selection.
