Gateway Cinema

A fun big-​city style cinema! This is a great place to catch a movie and enjoy an evening out. They have a VIP lounge for when you want to see a movie without the kids and and have a number of cinemas so the variety is usually pretty good too.

For some coming from a big city our little theater might not seem like much, but to those who grew up here, like myself, this theater means Wenatchee is really moving up in the world! We love the vip spot and go there whenever we can. The sweet potato fries with aoli are the best! The only downside is that it is not a full bar. When I’m paying for a 21 and older spot I expect to be able to get a cocktail. Also the on tap beer selection is really small! But the seats are comfortable and the theater is always clean.

VIP is very nice… seats comfortable and great water service.

You had one job. ONE. JOB. We go to order popcorn and they are out of butter. All evening. I said «can’t you go to Safeway or something?» People want to see movies and eat popcorn. It’s very simple. When you screw up one half of the equation, it’s not as enjoyable. I will say this theater rivals any city theater — comfy chairs, great sound. Nice to see Wenatchee has it.

Decent theater with good friendly help. Back east lots of theaters have machines that give you tickets and seats so it’s nice to have actual people help you out and give you information. There are the typical concessions and a few arcade games in the lobby with plenty of room to stand but could have a little more seating. The actual theater was nice, lots of smooth seating that reclined slightly. What could be improved on is the parking lot. I’m sure this isn’t a year round issue but the whole lot is like sheet of ice. There were lots of people coming and going into the theater and everyone looked like they were walking on a tightrope and even heard a woman say «I need my ice skates!» I’m surprised no one was hurt. Otherwise the theater is fine.

So it’s Christmas Eve and we came to watch Star Wars. I go to ask the people at the concession stand for an empty box, bag, or cup so that my father can share popcorn with his grandsons. I even offered to pay for it, but the answer was no. I asked for a manager, who turned out to be nothing more than a rotten peach. I asked her the same thing and with her sour scowl on her face, she too told me no. Wayyy perturbed by this point, I said, «this is the most ridiculous s%#t I’ve ever effing heard.» She looked me dead in the eye and very quietly said, «fuck you!» DEBBIE YOU ARE THE MANAGER! That is your job to remain calm and take care of your patrons. YOU do not get to speak to people that way-​EVER! I highly suggest you have no dealings with this wretched, pathetic excuse for a manager. Sad, and I truly hope you, DEBBIE, are not a representation of the average person in this town. You’re a disgusting, inept, and unqualified manager. Furthermore, next time you want to use your sour, puckered, wrinkled mouth to say bad words, own it, don’t whisper it in shame, you coward. Disgusting manager.

I would have to say your full of shit. If you had offered to pay for another popcorn they would have been more than willing to give you a bag. They are not allowed to give out anything unless you pay full price for it. I’m assuming you didn’t want to pay full price, therefore they had to tell you no. You getting angry and cursing yourself at the manager. I don’t know why you would expect her to treat you with any respect. Do on to others as you want done on to you. Yes maybe she should have «stayed calm» and just smiled at you. But you didn’t deserve it. If you don’t like being spoke to in that manner, then maybe you should look at yourself in the mirror and do the same. I guess it makes you feel good talking down about others. Just remember, karma is a bitch and I hope you get all that you deserve. Also remember, it’s Christmas time. Suppose to be cheerful and grateful for what you have. Treat people with respect. It was one of the busiest nights. Clearly you have never worked with the general public. If you had, you wouldn’t have treated her the way that you did!!! I wish I could have been there to watch YOU treat her the way that you did. I would have loved to tell you off for her.

I have no idea why these guys can’t seem to post correct show times, or have employees that don’t seem to want to stay and work. This is the second time we’ve shown up for a 9:45 showing and they were locked. There have been plenty of other people showing up with us confused as well. Probably won’t be returning. There’s always liberty luckily!

Nice new movie theater for Wenatchee. Lots of food options and a good size arcade. Wish they had more in town. Looking forward to going to the VIP Cinema with out the kids someday.

Really enjoyed this theater. Very clean building, super friendly staff. Prices seemed fine to us, but we are from the west side of the mountains so maybe other reviewers here have a better feel for prices in this region…
We had a fun experience here and we’re pleased with how clean, and up to date everything is (very nice bathrooms, albeit weirdly small stalls — what’s with that?!).

This place is crazy expensive! Lackadaisical employees to boot.
I was in town for a conference and decided to come see a movie after our training was over. This cinema was close so I headed over.
Imagine my surprise when I arrived at a matinée time and had to pay $ 8.50! Regular prices are 11.00. Popcorn is always expensive so I expected that but they were more expensive than any other theater I have ever been to and the sizes were small. I asked for buttered and they squirted a few drops on top but nothing anywhere else. I was the only one standing in line so it isnt like they didnt have time to butter the popcorn. The kids working were not real polite and very aloof.
The movie theater itself was great. It is new so what else would you expect?
Afterwards I stopped by the café to get a panini. It was very good but very small for 8.00.
If I was ever back in Wenatchee I will look for a different theater if I get the hankering to see a movie.

The VIP is great. Have some beers, a comfy seat, + no kids.
My only real issue is that they need automatic ticket machines like most theatres, in 2014, have. It seems unnecessary to have to stand in line, especially if I’m in a hurry.

New, clean and BIG, VIP is the best way to go.
Holiday weekend found me in Wenatchee and ready to get out of the house. VIP tickets purchased on line and we were ready to go. Upon arrival, the large, indoor Size matters here and the concessions ares is no different. There’s no need to stop, we’re VIP. Direct to the ticket taker and town the hall to the VIP waiting room. Here you’ll find a bar with beer, wine, candy and popcorn in a room with booths and high tops for relaxing before the flick.
Show Time! Entering the medium sized, stadium seating, theater, with killer sound and seats your butt will not fall asleep is a breath of fresh air. There’s bigger theaters but the size is perfect. You won’t feel packed in. The seats are paired and the middle armrest will rais if you want to cuddle with the person next to you. If you don’t know them, make sure you ask first. On the opposite arm is a large tray and cup holder. The plush seats rock but a little too far back for my confort. I don’t drop the seat back an roll with my arm out the window either. I found myself adjusting throughout the long movie to keep comfortable. Others in the group did not have this problem. Maybe it was the movie.
There is a price for greatness and here, it will cost you $ 15.50 admission rather than the usual $ 10.50. Come on kids, 5 bucks? You can do that. And speaking of kids, there are none. 21+ only in the VIP. This is a big selling point for me.
With movies getting longer, why watch it in anything but VIP?

Writing an update to my previous review after the busy Christmas week.
In my previous review, I mentioned the seats being comfortable. However we came and saw a movie on Christmas Day and today, and I thought the seats were AWFUL. They lean back to much and don’t provide comfortable neck support. We just sat through The Hobbit and I left with a head and neck ache from those chairs. Terrible. I have no idea if they changed them or what since we are from out of town.
Also there really need to get electronic kiosks to dispense tickets. Most movie theaters have them so you can order them online and pick them up. This theater though still makes you wait in line with everyone else which kind of defeats half of the purpose.
I can’t believe how much they charge for popcorn. It costs them 10 cents to make it.
