Love this place! Hot sauce variety. I was skeptical of the tacos in the bread boat thing but it was beyond delicious! I will return weekly as long as I’m in the area

Delicious food and clean, despite first appearances driving up. Charro beans were some of the best I’ve had lately. Bistek tacos were good. Others had the chalupas and chicken quesadilla and said they were awesome.

Pros: Awesome food! Nice ambiance. Much nicer than before. Cons: takes over an hour to get your food! Be prepared to wait… and wait… and wait!!! That’s with only a handful of people eating. I can’t imagine how long it takes when it’s packed! We got our food in 45 minutes and our kids for their burgers 15 minutes AFTER! Will not go back.

Since it got to shaky to go to Progresso we have become addicted to Nana’s! The Lonche’s are better than in Progresso! Worth a trip!

The bistec tacos are some of the best in the valley. The restaurant is small but we have never had a wait. The service is fast considering the number of employees.

Very tasty and reasonable prices. Limited menu and very basic décor. Friendly staff. I’d definitely go back.

This place gives you the true taste of progresso this side of the border. We have tried the panchos & lonches and both was delicious. We were a little skeptical but I gotta say the reviews were spot on. The parking is a little tricky but its worth the hassle.

I’m so glad I had the opportunity to stop by this little gem in the Valley and have my first lonches experience. So cheap yet so freaking good! I doused it with that amazing garlic salsa they have. Accidentally got some in my nose(ouch), but it was so worth it! This place is awesome and a must go-to whether you’re a local or just in town for work like I was. The staff is super friendly too and will make you feel right at home! GETTHELONCHES.

Los lonches de bistek están sabrosos. No tienes que cruzar a nvo progreso para disfrutar de este platillo. La torta no lleno mi expectativa pero el platillo especial pues son los tradicionales lonches. No olviden agregarle aguacate.

One of the best tacos places I have been to. Super cheap n yet, super delicious food at the same time. Their little tiny cup of beans(yes it’s served in a 4oz styrofoam cup lol) is to die for. Even better with their killer orange, spicy, garlicky sauce. I want to just snatch one of those bottles and take it home with me one day. Even tho it’s been watered down a lot last time I was there, the flavor is still top notch. I have only tried 2 of their entrees. The steak taco is a must. The lonches are good but too greasy for me. It’s like they fry the breads first. Regardless, if u want good, cheap, authentic Mexican food, this is a must!

I’ve always thought that I can only get lonches in Mexico but little did I know there’s a family owned little restaurant somewhere in Weslaco. It was my first time trying lonches and it was amazing. The bread had the right crisp to it with the tomatoes, avocado, lettuce, cilantro, onions — and let’s not forget the yummy bistec. It had the right texture to it and topped with their salas just made it complete. The tacos were amazing too d/t their tortillas(: Becareful with the red salsa because I underestimated it. I drenched my meat with it and ate it like nothing. but you just wait because there’s a KICK at the end and mind you, my tongue was burning for at least 10 mins. Now I know where to feed my cravings for lonches I will for sure be coming back

I used to live about a mile from this place. Have eaten there about once a year, for five years. Last time I went, about six months ago, I ordered my usual favorite of anyplace I dine, chicken tacos. I don’t remember why, but I thought«no wonder I don’t like coming here.» My mom ordered something that was to have guacamole in it, and we didn’t see a single piece of guac, and no taste of it. I do remember service was lousy, and there were just a few people in the restaurant. Anyway, I decided then not to waste my time going there again. They HAVE paved the parking lot.

Look at all my snap shot images and that will explain the 5 star rating! Food was very very good! We used Unilocal to find it and I promise you you would pass right by otherwise.

I can’t seem to understand what the big hype is. Plain and simple Food sucks. Beans where cold tacos where so flavorless I threw half of the order away. In my opinion if the salsa sucks then everything else must suck. The salsa is usually the beautiful companion of the tacos and this one was horrible tasted like a chamoy candy with salt and water. Never again

In a world where valley Lonches are a commodity, this place really separates itself from the competition. Come early if you want a table at lunch. The atmosphere is very cool. It’s a colorful dining area, that was converted from a house. It took a bit to get my Lonches, but overall friendly staff in a clean environment. Food was yummy!

For a traveling birder, good cheap eats are a must. Since this is practically next door to Estero Llano Grande State Park, I’d pondered stopping here on a past visit, but didn’t have time to do so and subsequently had been chastised by my peers for not making the time to stop in. Now I know why. On a return visit, I came here with two birder friends local to the Valley and ordered the lonches. The restaurant was fairly crowded with locals and birders(though no one had taken advantage of outdoor seating so there was still plenty of room to spare) but soon enough we had our food, which was absolutely worth the short wait. The lonches really are quite fantastic, packed full of flavor. I also got to sample the chicken tacos, normally one of the blander offerings at a restaurant but here full of zing and seasoning and freshness. The service is friendly and the ambience is very homey. Whether you live in the Valley or are visiting in search of rare birds, you owe it to yourself to stop in here and enjoy. I can’t think of many better places to celebrate a successful wildlife outing than this.

BESTTACOSINTHEVALLEY!!! This place is absolutely amazing. Not only do they make the best tacos in the Valley, but they make the best tacos I’ve EVER had… so far. This establishment is very small and would be very hard to find if the big Nana’s Tacqueria sign was not strung up on a chain link fence facing the street. When I arrived to this humble little eatery, I scanned the menu and decided on the bistec tacos with avocado. The tacos are small, but they are packed full of flavor. Normally when I order bistec tacos at other places, the steak can be chewy and bland, but not at Nana’s. The meat was very tender and flavorful. Everything I ate was fresh, authentic and homemade. I tried my fiances lonches and they were wonderful. The bread they use is warm and soft with just a hint of sweetness. The lady that works there was also very sweet. She spoke fluent english and was so grateful when we told her how much we enjoyed our meal. We loved our food so much, we got 2 more orders to go so we could have more for dinner. I just cannot stress how amazing this little gem is. Nana’s is actually rated the #1 restaurant in Weslaco on Tripadvisor. Don’t believe me, see for yourself. Whenever I get family members to visit, this is the place I’m taking them to, NOQUESTION.
