PHD Salon and Spa

Went here for the first time a few days ago to just get my bangs trimmed and my split ends cut off. My stylist was Amanda and I would definitely book her again! She was very patient with me as I was describing a style that I wanted to have done the next day as I was attending a wedding. (Halloween-​themed so I wanted it to be in line with my costume)
Amanda thought of several styles I could do and I was going to come in to have her do my hair. Unfortunately I couldn’t make my appointment so I couldn’t see what she had thought up! I am confident that it would have been lovely though.
Will definitely be back!

Wonderful salon I discovered down the street from our house about 5 years ago. The services can’t be beat and the prices are very fair.
I have seen Amanda for cuts, color and highlights a few times now. She really takes the time to discuss expectations, and ideas that may work. I always want something just a little different than other visits and she delivers!
Additionally, I have had services by Lydia and Chris and they are wonderful to work with too.
It’s a bit squirreled away in the corner of the strip mall at Hwy 100 & Oklahoma Ave, but worth finding and worth a shot!

Lydia has been the only one I’ve let work on my hair! I always get compliments and she gives ideas to stay current. Amanda us great as well, especially for my shellac manicure.

This review is primarily about the massage therapist, Sherilyn.
I will first say that the appointment scheduling was easy. The staff, on the phone and when I visited, were very friendly, and the venue is kept very clean.
It had been several months since my last massage and my muscles were screaming at me to do something about it. I bought a Groupon a year ago for a massage from Sherilyn and was impressed by her technique and her strength.
Being a big guy, the massage therapists need to be strong to do the deep tissue work.
Sherilyn has the strength to get that job done, but also has the courtesy of frequently checking with me on the pressure, whether it was too much or not enough.
It’s that kind of attentiveness that I believe makes for a great massage therapist.
That is why she made my short list of those I would return to. I like visiting different therapists because of the range in their techniques and each seems to be really good at one muscle group versus another.
For example, I find that one is better at getting lower back tension to release better than the others while another is particularly good at getting the tension out of the neck and jaw area for those of us dealing with TMJ issues.
At any rate, I do recommend Sherilyn at PHD Salon if you’re looking for another massage therapist. The rate is $ 65 for a one-​hour massage and she mostly works on Saturday afternoons, and I think Friday evening, which fits with most schedules.

I had heard about and purchased a deal from this salon from living social. A friend and I had scheduled our appointments and went in for facials. The facial was ok (I did enjoy the foot massage). We decided while we were there to spend more money on our nails. We had found 5 dollar coupons to use for the nails. Upon giving the coupons to the employee, she had denied us the ability to use them. She said we could not combine 2 deals. Our living social deal had been already paid for prior to us entering the building so we were paying for our nails separately. The owner rudely came up to us once I had asked to talk to her and said, «It says right here that you cannot combine offers.» I had explained that we purchased two separate services and we stayed only because we had wanted more services and didn’t have to get our nails done here. At this point I no longer cared about the 5 dollars off but just wanted her to understand that we were giving her establishment more money by purchasing the extra service. She then proceeded to tell me that her employees can’t afford to «give these services away» and they are «only making $ 7». First any employee of any establishment should never talk about what their coworkers or employees are making financially which the owner should know not to do. Second, you should never ask like your guest is an idiot or be argumentative to the point of rude behavior. We are not in a bar and I am not a drunk beligerent guest who does not want to pay my tab of sorts. I will not be returning and there are much better services at other places.

I bought the Groupon for a massage. Therapist named Sherilyn. Overall very good massage and attentive therapist. The room was really cold, though, and there was no underfoot rest for when I was on my stomach (to support the feet).
