Whammy Bar

fun place great people and fantastic live music … they also do open jams and are open for Packer games… great place to hang out and have a really fun time !

I’ve previously reviewed Whammy Bar, and my last review was not very glowing. You can easily fill up your dive bar bingo card here — inconsistent tap beers, drinks served in plastic cups, a guy vaping in the corner. Lots of lackluster cover bands, that skew heavily towards decades past.
I went to a show there last weekend, though, and have to update my review. Where this place lacks in drinks, they more than make up for with an awesome stage. The sound is spot on, very powerful and clear without being overwhelming. And the lights/​smoke machine make every band look as awesome as they sound. Watch their schedule carefully for original acts if you’re into that, and you’ll find some gems.
I don’t know how this little corner of Stallis ended up with such a great stage for bands to play, but I’m glad it’s here.

Went specifically for an «Open Jam”(4/25/2013) — Female bartender was amazing, fun and extremely personable. Bar had friendly atmosphere patrons are quite friendly and up for any kind of conversation. «Open Jam» was anything but «Open» as the host of the Open Jam was very reserved in who was «allowed» to perform, seemed a small group was only permitted… ON A LIGHTER NOTE — There is a small dance floor where you can shake your drunken booty, check out live bands on stage, and several televisions where you can catch the game, drinks are decent price (Wednesday is ladies night 2−4−1) Sound system is incredible and the music selection is awesome. Will definitely come back for the music, bartenders, and fellow patrons and friends I’ve made.

If you want to take a trip into Wayne’s World this is the place. Everyone was nice, and seemed to walk right off the set of Wayne’s World. Metal? Metal! Metal. Cheap beers and good sound system.
Parking is not easy. Search out a side street on a busy night.

This place rocks West Allis! If you are in Milwaukee and love a great local bar with amazing live local music this is the spot for you! Great Drinks, Great Food, and Great People! Kelly and Pete make the place inviting and ffun, throw some great rock and roll on top of that and its pure magic! Definatly a spot to check out!

Whammy Bar is a awesome little ‘Stallis gem! Formerly Smokin’ Joe’s, it was renovated and reopened in January of this year. The bar and adjoining performance space the perfect size for an intimate show (even with a little room to dance!) You can catch live local bands on the weekends, or just hang at the bar to take in one of the various ball games from one of the local sports teams. There is a great casual atmosphere here, without the frills. Shorty after walking in, it is very clear that everyone is just there to have a good time. Also, the bathrooms were very clean. Cheers, dears!
