We recently visited Barnstable Stove as we are in the market for a baseburner. The shop is tucked away from the road and appearances are decieving. While the actual sales floor is modest, the storage yard and barn hold a plethora of coal, wood and gas parlor, cooking and base burner stoves. Doug even has mica baseburners, the ferraris of their day! He is also an honest source of very useful information, and was really patient with all our questions(and the 3 kids poking around the shop). If you are looking for a way to heat your home off the grid, or to save some cash on oil, this is a viable option. And, it doesn’t hurt that all his stoves are gorgeous.

NOTCLOSED! Whoever posted this got it wrong. I live near this store and it is wide open for business! I was just over there a week ago. There might be some confusion about the little shop across the street but the main business, located beside the historic train station on Rt 149 is indeed open! — Dave Doolittle, Sandwich MA Restoring old wood stoves and coal stoves to their original beauty and functionality is a rare skill these days, but Doug Pacheco is known all over the USA and beyond as a master at this craft. His Barnstable Stove Shop was featured on national TV on the Antiques Road Show on PBS… that’s how good he is! Even if you are not in the market for a stove, you can surely appreciate the beauty and craftsmanship in these, and Doug’s talent in making them shine again — literally. He even converts stoves to run on modern gas if you don’t want to deal with wood and the ashes it creates. Check out his website to admire his work: www.barnstablestove.com.
