Went here for dinner. I was waiting for a big suv to back up in the parking lot Bc he was literally taking up the entire road. As soon as he gets out of the way and I proceed to head to the spot a young kid goes and takes the spot. I swear it was straight out of a movie. Go inside sushi chef is super friendly and says hello. We go to sit at the table. There’s mushed rice underneath the table and it’s disgusting. The other table next to it had edamame all over the floor. We told the waitress and she kindly swept it up for us. Food wise. It was mediocre at best. The caterpillar roll was wrapped it avocado. The avocado was mushy and the inside of the roll made my mouth tingle. The spicy tuna roll was wrapped so poorly it all fell out the bottom. The Godzilla roll was the best of the three, primarily because it was fried and covered in eel sauce. The menu doesn’t have the descriptions of what’s in all the rolls, only some of them. When I asked the waitress she had to go and check. House ginger salad, the dressing was great. Cucumbers in it were old and soggy. Overall staff was friendly. Food was okay. I will not be back when there are so many other good sushi options in the area.

Most delicious sushi roll I’ve ever had! I ordered the Caterpillar roll which is essentially a spicy tuna roll wrapped in thin avocado slices. Highly recommend!

Really good sushi and menu items at very fair prices. I come for lunch often and their lunch specials are super generous for under 10 bucks. The service is always polite and quick, but not rushed. It’s a smaller place, nothing too fancy, but really good and highly recommended.

The Beau use to live in this area, so this use to be his go to place before he discovered Noble Fish and Aijshin. He’s taken me here at least 4 times. They have great combo deals-$ 14 for tuna lovers which includes 3 pcs tuna nigiri, 1 regular tuna roll, 1 spicy tuna roll, 1 spicy tuna maki hand roll, and it comes with soup and salad. They also have other combos if tuna isn’t your favorite fish. I believe they have an eel and salmon combo as well. These combos provide you with ALOT of food. My only gripe is that sometimes the nigiri pieces and regular tuna rolls have been fishy tasting. Other times it has been good, but if they were more consistent on fish handling, then it would definitely bump up their rating. I also got the agedashi tofu which was meh the first time I got it, but really good the subsequent times. The sushi chefs are nice, and we can generally get a table relatively quickly so this makes a convenient option.

Friendly staff and quick service. Sushi looks beautiful but is not the freshest or the best sushi I have had.

I’ve been going to Mene since it opened, back when I was still a kid. It was one of my favorite restaurants, and one of few sushi places in the area. Now that my sushi horizons have broadened, I’ve realized that the sushi here is not that good. I’ve certainly had worse, but it’s pretty much like grocery store level sushi; edible but far from exciting. Other items on the menu, however, are great. The tofu steak is one of the most delicious bricks of bean curd you’ll ever have the pleasure of shoving into your face. All of the fried appetizers are great, of course, most notably the gyoza. Their dol sat bibimbap is also pretty darn good, as is the Midori salad, which tops a simple salad of iceberg lettuce and ginger dressing with what seems like an entire avocado. Another great thing about Mene is the reasonable pricing and large portions. Service has always been very friendly, especially when dining with older relatives who have a lot of questions about the menu and want to make substitutions. Although the sushi is mediocre, the Japanese and Korean entrees and appetizers are definitely worth a try. I was on the fence about giving 3 or 4 stars, but after nearly 20 years, Mene continues to endure and deserves your patronage, even if you just order a feast of tofu steaks.

Attempted to eat hear with my family of 6 for a birthday celebration and we waited and waited for our food that never arrived. After an hour of waiting for food we finally left. We even questioned our foods where abouts several times and nothing came of it. Our beverages were also only filled once sueing our wait. If you have more than two people in your party I would not recommend eating here. Not only did we not receive our food we were constantly bumped into by waitresses who were unable to get by to attend to other tables.

I actually never got to try the food due to over an hour and 15 min wait for our food. We eventually walked out. Terrible service. There is also limited space. Tables were setup awkward and we’re impossible to navigate around. In our hour + wait we only saw our waitress once and hand empty glasses of water for most of the time. Don’t waste your time, especially if you have a party larger than 2.

Their sushi is one my favorites in Oakland county. I personally love go there for their lunch time specials. I love their seaweed salads. The only reason im giving them only a 3⁄5 rating is cause their service is subpar.

A favorite of my friend’s, Mene Sushi is located towards the back of a strip mall. To find it, I look for the Outback Steakhouse on Orchard Lake which serves as my reference point. The restaurant is fairly large and bisected into two; we luckily sat in the quieter area so that we could get caught up on family news and common friends. There we many choices from the extensive menu so we easily identified three different rolls which we could share. The Fresh Roll deviated from the norm with shrimp, crab and assorted vegetables wrapped in pinkish soy paper instead of the typical sushi-rice. I liked the creativity of using soy paper. The Sunday Morning Roll usually features salmon but with my allergies, the restaurant kindly replaced it. And finally, we rounded out our choices with the Spider Roll, including a soft shell crab, tempura style. The portions were large enough for the two of us, despite my bigger appetite, with a few random pieces left over for the following day. As always, a sushi dinner is not complete without my faves, mackerel and tamago sashimi. Both were yummy. Although it was a weeknight, I was surprised and a bit disconcerted that we were the last ones in the restaurant even though it was early in the evening.

I love this place. I come for a quick after-school meal with my son, and the server remembers us and knows what we would order. There’s no excitement about food, it’s what you normally expect from a good Japanese place. The prices are right.

Ordered: Spicy Scallop Handroll, Rainbow Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, Sunflower Roll, Spicy Jalapeño Roll(special) Ambiance: Overall nice and clean place with the dining area walled in from the front desk so theres minimal light from windows. The dark and solid furniture with your stereotypical japanese decorations(bamboo, blue banners, etc) make this a good date spot. The staff are friendly enough and refilled our waters so no complaints there. The biggest issue we had was that the underside of our soy sauce dish and bowls had this crusty white grime baked on the bottoms from their machine washer. It was a little off-putting but the dining surfaces were fine and we put it out of our minds. Food: Generally speaking, I had issue with the rice which was a little on the dry side and the fish. The rice will admittedly vary depending on when you go but biting into the fish, I was struck by how little flavor there was. The texture was fine, definitely not melt-in-your-mouth though. The rainbow roll was pretty standard with a good balance between the artificial crab, avocado, and cucumber. The spicy tuna roll had avocado in it which was admittedly tasty, but they need to scale it down because it completely overwhelmed the tuna. I was disappointed by how mild the spicy tuna and scallops were but thats pretty typical most places. The spicy jalapeño roll was supposed to have cream cheese and jalapenos deep-fried with spicy tuna but the roll had no discernable jalapenos and the cream cheese overwhelmed everything. My wife really enjoyed the sunflower roll which was very beautiful and tasted fine but be warned its one of those ginormous rolls that take 2 bites to eat without risking choking on it. Overall the food here was middle-of-the-road and the prices fair. My biggest issue was that the fish was bland and the rolls really had an issue balancing the flavors that were there. I did like some of the creativity of their rolls but the execution needs work.

I’ve been going to Mene Sushi for 8 years! My favorite thing on the menu here is the Bibimbap — a hot stone bowl w/rice, veggie, choice of meat & raw egg on top w/spicy red sauce. I also like that you can get the sushi rolls here w/o seaweed. Their salad dressing is good and the green tea is free! It’s a small place, but you can reserve the back room for a fee per person(might be ~$ 30/pp — not sure). I’ve reserved this room for family get-togethers /birthday dinners. The room has a table that looks like it’s on the floor, but there is a hole underneath it for your feet! The décor in the restaurant has changed minimally since I started going — the same gong rests in the front of the store and the same curtains to the kitchen… etc. The service is was has taken a large dive. For years they had the same waitstaff and very friendly chefs. The past 2 times I went we had a waitress who was snippy and rude to my family. She got frustrated when we asked for wasabi even when there wasn’t any on the plate she served. She would reach over us in an awkward manner to grab plates and took my bowl away before I was finished. When we asked questions about the specials she gave one-word answers… awkward. It was definitely a shock to the system to be treated so poorly at this place I loved. The food has also declined in quality — we ordered the firecracker roll and my family told me it was bland and soggy almost. The edamame we always get came out with 12 pieces in the bowl… My bibimbap’s chicken was dry and fatty. There are too many good sushi places in the area, I always loved Mene, but can’t say I’ll return just to be nervous to order my dinner.

Love the food here! Lots! When I’m in the area and am craving sushi, this is my go-to place. In my oh-so-humble opinion, they have the best spicy tuna roll I’ve ever had – anywhere! Seems like the spicy part is a combo of wasabi and perhaps the slightest hint of something sweet rather than a «hot sauce» kind of spicy. Yum-O! Also, not all Japanese restaurants serve bibimbap and it’s delicious here. I also love their version of agedashi tofu. The list of yummy food here is long! Also, they always take care of my special food requests. That said, when I call in for take-out, I always get the sense that there’s the greatest sushi urgency going on and my phone call usually lasts under 6 seconds. And, even when I eat there, the servers don’t linger. They simply move fast here, even if the place is empty. And actually, that’s ok w/me. I always feel well cared for AND the food is scrumptious.

The atmosphere is nice and comfy, cool décor. Service is fast, mostly friendly. Sushi was awesome. Love the finger dressing and house made spicy mayo. The rainbow roll and a few shrimp tempura specialty rolls were awesome, I forgot their names. The fire cracker had baked crab on top-awesome! Can’t wait to go back. Prices are alright, but on the higher end. Will be back!

Totally disgusting!!! My husband had ants in his eel roll. When speaking with owner, she was rude and unprofessional. Although the food is reasonably priced, it lacks quality. Service is slow. They never refill drinks. There are plenty of sushi restaurants, stay clear unless you like extra protein in your rolls! You get what you pay for!

Not impressed. I really don’t understand why people come here. Poor service, okay sushi. They really need to hire more wait staff! You should go to sushi samurai which is nearby on Orchard Lake road instead. They give you a lot more fish in the sushi.

The size of the restaurant is an optical illusion from the outside. It looks bigger than it is and once you sit down, you’re almost sharing your table with your neighbors. The tables are really close together so be prepared to enjoy the conversation next to you. We started off with their octopus salad. It had good texture and flavor. The brininess and vinegar of the dressing adds immediately to the meat. The pop of the seaweed is a standard component to the salad, always a good staple. We had a variety of sushi for dinner, tuna, salmon, hand rolls, eel, christmas roll, and smelt roe. All the sushi was fresh, presented well and decorative. None of it was super amazing, but all still standard. To me its all over priced. Its probably due to location, what city its in. You can find everything at other places cheaper.
