Stopped at Benson’s on Tuesday, June 21 and got black raspberry — yummy! I noticed quite a few people got strawberry, probably because local native strawberries are in season right now. They all said it was delicious!

Adorable seasonal ice cream stand. Creamy, fresh ice cream. Dangerously good. What ever the native fresh fruit is, we get it. However when we’ve ventured away from fruit we’ve not been disappointed. Ginger is one of my other favorites. They now take credit cards!

The ice cream was good. All who ate it were happy but since I am the one who paid, I am not happy. 7 ice creams just under $ 5 each and I was charged $ 44. Must be new math. I was distracted by the kids so partly blame myself for not checking the prices more carefully So if you go there enjoy the ice cream but watch carefully what your bill adds up to.

Delicious ice cream, local farmers, a little steep on the prices. Seasonal berry ice cream is a reason to go!

A groupon offer($ 15) led my friend and I here on a Friday evening a bit before 6 pm. The place was VERY quiet despite the nice evening. We each ordered the«regular» size Sundae. One hot fudge with chocolate brownie chunk and cookies N cream ice cream, whipped cream and nuts and the other a strawberry Sundae with pistachio and butter pecan ice cream. A little disappointed in the size for the cost. They came in plastic cups and my guess is a 16 or 20 oz. with a scoop of each of the flavors of ice cream. I thought the brownie chunk tasted more like coffee ice cream and didn’t find any brownie chunks but the cookies n creams as filled with pieces of Oreo cookies. My friend’s strawberry Sunday was filled with chunks of strawberry. Not bad but again for a little over $ 15 it wasn’t impressive.

Such a cute little spot! It’s a really nice drive! And obviously wicked good ice cream. My bf was salty I ordered the reverse choc chip instead of him.

Oh my God. Try the blueberry — it’s packed full of fresh blueberries. They do not skimp on the ratio of blueberries to ice cream at all. I’ve never had ice cream so good in my life!

Really good ice cream-huge portions! They are a seasonal establishment. Once it gets cold they’re open until their stock is gone. Given their popularity in the area that means that they close 2⁄3 through October(though I’m not sure if they’re done yet). They have a nice list of home made ice cream. The mouth feel is GREAT. I had the peach seasonal flavor which tasted a bit like amaretto but was pretty good even if a bit sweet. Apparently, one of their signature ice creams is their reverse chip reverse chip – chocolate ice cream with white chocolate. I didn’t get it this past time(sad!) but everyone else in line who seemed to be regulars told us «you just have to try it!» Cute place, decent portions for the price. I got the single and that was way too big – definitely would go for the half-single next time!

Any native fruit ice cream in season is out of this world. Strawberry, blueberry, red raspberry, black raspberry, blackberry, peach, Apple. Little known secret hint — ask for the native fruit topping with your native fruit ice cream when you order the regular or junior sundae!

This is my favorite ice cream place in the Greater Boston area. Love the native strawberry and raspberry during the summer.

I’m a huge fan of homemade ice cream, in New England it seems Richardson’s has corned the market and everybody and their mother is selling it saying its homemade, well at Bensons the ice cream really is, made in the back yard, I think. Smooth, creamy not oily like the other place I mentioned. The cookie dough is the best big chunks of dough in a vanilla base that is the best around. It’s small actually part of a house, if the line is long it’s worth the wait. The people who work there are fast and friendly. My only issue is the cups they use, way too small for the ice cream they are scoping into them. I always ask for a small in a large cup or it will be running down your arm before you get back in the car. The ice cream is so good I don’t really care about what it comes in. Just a tip. Thank you Bensons for fresh creamy ice cream, also one of the only places around that offer reverse chip, chocolate ice cream jammed with white chocolate chunks. I could go on for ever. Go try it set, your GPS in your phone and thank me later.

Love this place!!! The seasonal flavors are the best. I love this place. The mint cookie crunch is so yummy. I know the prices are steep but supporting a locally owned family business makes it worth it!

It’s not even that great. Walked up to the counter, the girl working was super awkward and didn’t have good manners at all. Didn’t ask how we were doing, and acted kind of annoyed. My boyfriend and I ordered two oreo frappes, and after trying them we were disgusted. They literally tasted like two cups of milk and NO flavor. Worst frappé I’ve ever had-and most expensive one too! Overall the customer service is rude and I don’t see the big hype over the ice cream. It was awful. Ps, did I mention the tiny bit of oreo that I was able to taste, tasted like it was made from Oreos that were 10 years old? So gross. Carter’s in bradford is so much better…

The best ice cream I’ve ever tasted. Try the fresh local flavors-nothing like it. Word of caution… siting outside on the picnic tables after dusk will invite every mosquito in MA to come feast on you. Sit in your car and enjoy!

Just seeing the photos of the ice cream here makes my mouth water. This is thee place for a whole lot of ice cream, reasonably priced, and so fresh. Their raspberry is what gets talked about and missed more than anything. I remember those days like it was yesterday, taking the nice drive to the farm and thinking you missed the turn, but then it appears. You just don’t get it fresher and creamier than this!

This is hands down the best ice cream I ever ate. The seasonal fruit ice creams are so fresh and flavorful, it is like a holiday in your mouth. And I love the flavors you don’t get many other places — frozen pudding, ginger, and coconut. This place is worth a ride on Route 133. And you can stop at Paisley’s’ farm next door for some fresh fruits and veggies.

This is the best ice cream, ever. I grew up in the area, so went there a lot as a kid. I had no idea how spoiled I was until I went back last year after a long time away. I had a peach ice cream and I’ve been thinking about it ever since. I’m not kidding. Benson’s has ruined all other ice cream for me, because it’s just that good. I can’t wait for peach season. Because, yes, they make their peach ice cream(as well as other native flavors) from fresh, local fruits. Once it’s gone, it’s gone until the fruit grows back the next year. Yes, it’s expensive. But so worth it. Would you rather pay a little more for the greatest ice cream on earth or pay less for mediocre ice cream?
