I’m torn between a 3 or 4 star review… hmm. I live very close to this place, it’s the go-to whenever I’m eating with someone and we can’t decide where else to go. That being said, I’ve had almost everything on the menu, and there are a few novels that are shorter than it… seriously, don’t bring the ambivalent orderer here, you’ll never eat. Try a burger, they really are very good but very greasy– not the best quality meat(I’d hate to know the nutritional info) but they are one of the best places around at consistently cooking to temperature(medium-rare for me), parlay it with well-done sweet potato fries and you’re money. If you want to eat healthier, try the Cobb salad, however, be CERTAIN to pay extra for GRILLED chicken. It’s served with orange glazed chicken that is certainly orange but questionably chicken; seriously, it’s gross: pale white, slimy and in a sticky sauce. I think they buy what doesn’t make the grade as Subway chicken breast… there is little doubt in mind that it comes in log-form, shrink-wrapped, and whose shelf life exceeds the duration of my last marriage… but I digress. The buffalo chicken mac and cheese is the best. Anywhere. Period. The specials change quarterly, maybe bi-annually, I’m not sure which. They could use a little creativity. The prices are a bit above reasonable, but they are generous with the free popcorn, which is really good; I wish they would be more generous with booze in their mixed drinks though. I’m going with 3 stars.

I’ve been to Boston Tavern a few times and each one hasn’t been consistently bad or good, just average service and food. They do have a really big menu though. The bar is huge and good for a night out or meeting spot with friends. However, they serve alot of regulars here and those folks get priority it seems. The atmosphere is very laid back casual, similar to an Applebees, 99 or Uno.

Best fries I’ve ever had. I had sweet potato and my fiancée regular fries and both were very crispy with not even one drop of oil. Service was really good too.

So far my family and I have been here twice and every time the food has been great and the service even better. Steak tips are our favorite so far.

Both times I’ve ordered burgers here they’ve been undercooked — will not eat here again. Will still come for beers, though, as the bartenders are really nice.

Since my first review, the food has gone down and customer service is horrible. The servers are nice, the bartenders are nice, but the managers and hosts are not. They have a «rule» that they will not seat you unless your whole party is there.(However, I did see a large party get seated at different times behind my table– strange how this«rule» applies to some but not all). Does it make a difference if ONE person is still parking the car, or finding a spot? Two people are sitting at the same booth that the three people would take. So needless to say when you are rude about giving this information to your customers you lose business. For this reason alone we’ve stopped going there. They obviously do well and still have enough business. But make sure you have your WHOLE party there at the SAMEEXACT time or they will make you wait.

Solid, family-friendly alternative to the massive 99 and other pub chains, with a local focus. Huge menu of comfort foods and specialties, plenty of large booths and Boston memorabilia. A small, regional chain worth a visit.

Great if your in the area but wouldn’t travel far for it. Went here to eat lunch with the husband since he works near it. During lunch it’s free soup!!! So that’s awesome. The service is really nice and pretty fast. I got the lobster roll and it was just okay. I’m not use to eating lobster roll with lettuce so that was different, especially since the lettuce was bitter so it didn’t taste great with it and turned me off from wanting to finish. But the presentation was fancy. Next time I’ll just stick with the sweet potato fries, that was good.

Visited on a Saturday night prior to a Foam Glow Run in Brockton. We were told the wait was about 45 minutes and we got in at about 25 minutes so we were grateful as we were running short on time. The waitress was super sweet and friendly and took our orders quickly. My chicken sandwich was good, but a little dry– same goes for the french fries– good but not great. The manager and waitress checked on us often. If you’re looking for a good«middle of the road», good but not great place, I’d recommend going here :)

I took my mom their for her birthday and it was terrific. First off, we were sat in a booth at the bar and asked for a new table b/c there was a loud guy at the bar.(FYI he was fine, just a bit too loud for us). The manager moved us quickly and easily without any fuss. The food was very tasty and we LOVEDTHEROVINGMAGICIAN Dennis that they have on Thursdays from 6 to 8pm. This guy just walks around the tables and does magic. He is clear at the beginning that this is NOT for tips. The restaurant pays him. Honest to god, he was amazing. The things he did right in front of my eyes were dumbfounding. I’d go back again for the tasty pub food and especially for the thursday night magic! I loved it, but would no doubt be fun for kids too.

Alright; but nothing to write home about. I like a restaurant where the sweet potato fries are so good you want to keep eating them; this wasn’t such a place. So it’s good if you’re on a diet, or like to waste food. My scrod, and my pal’s sandwich were fine enough. As we were celebrating a special occassion we both had the Boston Cream Pie. It was very good –but for $ 6.99 a friggin piece it SHOULD be.

I love this place, I used to go there all the time with my grandfather. I’ve gotten the meatloaf and it was good but my go-to is the All-Star Combo with nachos, onion rings, boneless buffalo wings, and fried ravioli. It’s a little expensive at around $ 20 but if you can avoid eating it all in one sitting, you can take home half for lunch the next day. The menu has so much stuff, I would eat here everyday if I had the money. It’s very similar to The Halfway Café, but better.

Tne food is excellent! Unlike other restaurants that use fries as fill for the whole clam plate, they actually fill it with clams. I would also recommend the beer battered fish n chips. The waitstaff are quick and friendly.

Dude. The glazed chicken on the Cobb salad was fahhhhhkin bogus. Tasted like someone’s menstrual cycle. Otherwise, the place isn’t bad.

Went there with my daughter and was not impressed. Showed up 1:00 on a Sunday and the place wasn’t busy. Our waitress was very nice and efficient. What I didn’t care for was the bitter brown lettuce in my $ 13 Greek salad with grilled chicken. This salad I would expect from Wendy’s or some other fast food place! My daughter’s bacon cheeseburger sliders were acceptable though. Found this place extremely over priced for the quality of the food being served!

This is my go-to spot when I’m in the greater Boston area. I love the atmosphere, it’s dark, warm and cozy, and has that classic bar/tavern feel to it. Wait staff and manager are usually friendly. Menu isn’t too large, but offers alot of great options. I always get the ribs when I go here. When you pick up the bone, the meat slides right off. That’s the sign that you know the ribs are golden. We also get the All star appetizer sampler, which allows you to pick 3 items and they add onion rings. This is also solid. The prices aren’t cheap, or expensive. Just your average restaurant prices. Great place to go out at night with a group of friends or watch a sports game. 4⁄5.

Great Pub-Style food and a good locals spot. Good Food, Great Atmosphere, and great service. I would compare to a better quality 99. Has the pricing of a chain but run with care and the food is much better quality. I like the pub food but surprisingly their Chicken Parm was quite good!

Came around 6:30 on a Wednesday and they were packed. I was able to find one open seat at the bar. The draft beer selection is pretty poor for a place called ‘Boston Beer Tavern’. They had about 8 beers on tap, your typical Sam Adams, Budweiser and Harpoon. Oh, and the must have in October shipyard pumpkin. Nothing special. I would have expected at least a few real craft beers. The service was fast and the prices were decent. I order the crispy chicken sandwich but there was very little honey mustard sauce on it. After I ordered a side it was rather yummy! There were only TWO bartenders servicing the ENTIRE restaurant so not only did I feel forgotten about but the man to my left ordered two salads to go and it took over twenty mins because they clearly forgot about him and the man to my right had to wait ten minutes just to put his keno numbers in! Overall, I love the prices. I just wish the tavern had a better selection of beer and more than two bartenders on a Wednesday night to service the entire restaurant where there was at least a 15 min wait for a table.
