Been following them for months on IG… Thought I would stop in and enjoy a meal. I was really impressed with the Don P Platter. Small bite of chicken, pork chop, skirt steak and chorizo… Everything was cooked just right. The others in my party enjoyed their food as well. We caught happy hour so drinks were only $ 5, not watered down. I would recommend rid spot again and again. Right now I’m listening to the live band. They are tearing it up… Stop though when you can…

My boyfriend and I got here at 7pm on a Saturday and there was no wait for a table. The music was loud but played into the ambience. The Hennessy mojito was amaaaaaazing! We both loved our steaks, will definitely return. Possibly for brunch next time around.

Arrived on a Saturday at 6pm. Slow service. Waited 15 min for our drinks. Sangria full of ice. Margaritas full of ice. The patrons at the bar seemed very happy and enjoying the evening… maybe its best to sit at the bar to get better service and drinks. We ordered our food once she finally came back… my friend ordered steak. . The waitress said ok next. My friend says«u didn’t ask how I would like that» the waitress says oh. I ordered salmon. If I knew what I know now. I would have said please cook medium. Flavor was ok but it was overcooked and dry. I would assume at this style of restaurant a chef should know how to prepare salmon. It should be soft and juicy not dry like canned tuna. As stated the flavor was ok. Yes I could have sent it back. But… if there is a next time I will say cook it medium. Another ordered tilapia. It appeared that some fish was missing. Tilapia is usually small. And for the price they should give at least a whole piece or two. My friend had like one strip of fish. I realize the waitress didn’t bring my sauteed mushroom that I asked for. She says oh you ordered mushrooms?. .as if she forgot. She means well but the service is bad. I noticed on the bill that the mushroom were $ 7.00. That’s a bit excessive. I asked the manager can that be adjusted he mentioned it should be $ 5 but he will charge us $ 4 because the waitress made a mistake… Our bill came to $ 178. Her gratuity was included. Did she deserve a 18 percent included tip? I wouldn’t want to stiff her but she deserved 10 –14 percent. I guess she tried. Manager is a gem.

It was a nice and comfortable atmosphere. Good music and tasty, fresh food! I’m extremely critical when it comes to the dish that is presented to me at a restaurant and you can clearly see the fresh herbs and so forth. Good job!!!

Whoa ! What on earth happened to Don Pancho? It was the little spot that could, just a few months ago… and I was so excited and happy to have them as a great addition to Bruckner Blvd. dining scene. So I am sad to make an update to my stellar(well 4 stars is stellar for me) review of this place dated Feb. 2015. Stopped in the other night for my 6th(and it turns out) FINAL visit. Party of two, hungry thirsty… we were quickly seated and proceeded to order from the menu a $ 6 glass of Chardonnay. The waiter launched into a kind of stumbling explanation of how they no longer sell wine that’s $ 6 dollars per glass(even though $ 6 is the ‘by the glass’ price showing on the menu for all wine) and that instead, all wine is now $ 10 per glass(?!). Puzzled and expecting misunderstanding(not false advertising at a place I like), I asked to speak to the manager. He quickly came to our table and abruptly confirmed the $ 10 ‘by the glass’ price… offering that new menus are«still at the printer». I said to him something like«you can’t list one price on the menu and then say it’s not available at that price.» but he was unmoved — even less so as we gathered our coats and belongings to leave– saying that we would never be back. They didn’t care at all, mocking us with snickers as we left… and that part was really astonishing ! New«manager» was not familiar to me, nor was anyone on the floor. Not sure what happened here– but maybe a new owner who doesn’t know the first thing about how to run a successful business? Well, all that i can say is that one thing’s for certain — if Don Pancho doesn’t get back to the basics of good customer service — they will NOT be successful under any ownership. Regardless, they will have to do forever without my outside dining dollar.

Well. Lets see, I had a little wait, but it was so worth it. The manager kwami was such a comforting soul, such an approachable person. When we sat down he allowed us to have a table for four even though it was only two of us to make us feel comfortable. The music was on point, drinks were good, but babyyyyy the food. WOW!!! My Rib-Eye steak and sweet potatoes were beyond AMAZING… The Bar tender was such a sweety pie. It’s always good to feel comfortable where you eat and thats exactly what it was .pure comfortability. My date /boo(lol) really enjoyed his food as well he had the filet mignon w/mash, he pretty much cleaned the plate for them .loll. So yeah def check this spot out. Oh I almost forgot. The calamari was Delicious…

Went for Sunday brunch and everything was outstanding. We(my GF and I) had the scrambled eggs breakfast and I had the pick 3 omlet. This was some of the most well prepared breakfast food we have ever had in the Bronx. In addition, everything tasted fresh and the service was exceptional. We were greeted by a couple different folks including someone who appeared to be the owner. From the time we were seated until the time we left this was a pleasant experience. It’s easy to give a pleasant experience or have good food, but getting the two together is an added plus.

3rd time here. Initially I loved it because the margaritas were really good and only $ 5 how could you not love it. All 3 times here there is no host we stood by the door waiting to be seated. No one greeted us, no one told us what to do. Last time when we walked in we found out it was open mic night wished it said it in a sign up front because we walked in to be seated with cameras around us. Couldn’t even walk to the bathroom comfortably they literally place open mic performance right in front of the door where the food was coming through I’m sure the waiters were also uncomfortable and as a customer so was I not being able to get to the bathroom. After being seated 3 different people came to take our order. We informed the first we already placed an order. The 2nd person was a bartender since we had ordered drinks we asked to change our 2 margaritas to a margarita pitcher instead she seemed to understand. Our waiter seemed to dismiss us after this never came back to the table to see if everything was okay. The bartender lady did but she left before we did and left us with another bartender mind you we were sitting at a table. Finally asked for the check and I get 2 checks one from the bar and one from the waiter. Why weren’t we informed we would be getting 2 seperate checks because we ordered a pitcher from the bartender? Many places do this but at least inform you. They fucked up our bill the bill from the waiter had charged us for 2 separate margaritas after we had asked to change that to just a pitcher. The bartender who approached us about the issue keep saying she didn’t know what happen and couldn’t resolve the issue. Well I don’t work the i am the customer you find a way to resolve the issue and find out. I gave her a list of everything we ordered a total of only 3 items and claims she didn’t know the price to it in order to helps us resolve this. She speaks to the manager who is sitting 5ft away from us. He couldn’t even be bothered to get up explain and apologize for his employees mistakes. To tell me she doesn’t know what happened was super unprofessional there is huge lack of communication and lack of management. Wish I could come back because I initially love it. But not after last time. Thanks for making us feel welcomed. The only professionalism I have ever received here was from a waitress named Elsa. If you do come here and want good service maybe ask for Elsa the only person there who seems professional.

Food is amazing. I have not had the chance to have dinner in person though. But the presentation of food and taste is amazing. I love it

I always see this restaurant as im driving out of the bronx to go to other restaurants, so i finally said let me go in. At first glance it is a small establishment, and It was not crowded so me and my date were seated instantly. The drinks were good.(S.b. It was great because they were still offering happy hour prices at 8:30pm lol). Once the food came i was extremely satisfied. I had the grilled pork chops which were extra flavorful, and my date had the skirt steak which looked good and she said tasted wonderful. The only bad draw is the size of the restaurant, but that cannot be helped. Highly recommend and will be back.

We went for our anniversary last night, the food was exceptional. My wife had the red snapper and I had the sirloin steak. The wait staff was on point and very friendly. I would recommend this for causal drinks(Happy Hour from 4 to closing) or a classy night out.

Came here for dinner and it was not the best experience. First, there is a dj playing during dinner loud enough for you to not be able to hear a person talking to you from the other side of the table. If you like to dine & possibly twerk to the tune of Bandz A Make Her Dance & Hotline Bling, then this may be the spot for you! They served water in wine glasses and sangria out of water glasses. The wine list was a joke and worst of all they overcooked all of our meat. We ordered a medium rare steak that came medium well and medium lamb chops that were totally well done. When we asked the server to ask the chef to measure the temp and make sure they were served as ordered the server refused. He showed us his notebook and basically said he got it right and that they were served properly. I’ve never had a server refuse to take a plate back to the kitchen. Unexceptable! The only reason I am giving 2 stars is because the sweet potatoes were tasty.

It’s not 5 stars only because they seemed to be down or need to hire more wait staff. But the important thing is the food! The food is amazing! Definitely coming back.

I moved into the neighborhood about nine months ago. Was walking around that first month and saw Don Poncho’s, but never went in. Only recently did I go with a visiting friend who’s made me leave my comfort zone and explore the Bronx a little. This place is great! The decour is nice, the food is excellent, the drinks are good and the service is good. Been there 4 times now, and though the place may be a bit pricey you get what you pay for. I went just last night and ordered pork chops for $ 22 and ended up with food for two days as I couldn’t even finish the 2 thick, delicious chops along with my great side dishes of platanos and mashed potatoes. I recommend the place to anyone who is in the area. As a sidenote Don Poncho’s is also minority owned which to me was a nice bonus as I hate seeing newly gentrifying areas being populated with businesses owned by people who aren’t traditionally from that place.

I love the fact that this area is picking up on quality restaurants and spots. Soon enough this area will be the Williamsburg of the Bronx. Can’t wait. Don Pancho is one of those good, Small, and great environment places to go After work. Small just like every other place in NYC and the décor was very pleasant. The service was like no other. We got Lulu as our waitress and she was great. Her charisma was genuine. The drinks were really good. I had the Passion Sangria… Loved it! My friends had the frozen Margarita.(They were done per order with 3 blenders at a time and not in a frozen machine) The food was delicious. The portions are big. From the toasted butter breads, to the Aguacate salad, to the Pita bread Pizza, ALLGOOD. And the music was really good. They had a DJ and compare to some spots in Harlem the music here was way better and had people at my table singing and reminiscing good old times. I will def visit Don Pancho’s again.

I was not overly impressed by this place. THEYAREEXPENSIVE. Their food is good and their drinks are not too bad. There is one drink, it resembles the Hulk, its pretty good. Their other drinks depends. The service isn’t bad, they definitely pay attention to the tables. The space itself is spacious but there is limited seating. Only about 8 tables maximum, if thats not over counting.

I met some friends here for dinner one Friday evening and had a great time. When we arrived the place was empty but within the hour it was packed. The bar area was hustling and bustling with the afterwork crowd coming in for drinks. We saw some cool looking drinks but I stayed with a simple passion fruit margarita that was okay. The drinks were very expensive and I was shocked considering the area we were in the Bronx. My friend raved about her coquito. I had the chicken marsala with mash potatoes and string beans and I ate everything on plate. The chicken was tender and nicely seasoned and I was upset I didn’t have any food left to take home for leftovers. My friends enjoyed their meal and the service was great with no complaints. Our consensus for this restaurant was that it was a cute spot with some good food but just a bit pricey for the Bronx. I guess since it’s not much competition in the area they can charge what they want. Nevertheless, you can have a good time here.
