My grandma lived here for about six months before she died. It’s very fancy and nice-looking, it doesn’t have the«old people» smell, it costs a fortune, and the staff there is so legally protected that they can essentially let the customers die there and no suffer any consequences or even get fired. My grandma was in assisted living. She was supposed to have a full time aid and a daily monitoring by a nurse. In actuality the aid only worked daytime hours, meaning Grandma had no help getting around at night. She had to ring for someone to go to the bathroom and she would sometimes wait 20 or 30 minutes for someone to come. Once she waited so long that she went to the bathroom herself and fell down, and she laid there until the morning aid came by and found her. The aids sit with her but they’re not legally allowed to do anything other than help her walk and remind her to take her medicine. They can’t make suggestions, talk to the nurse, show any concern, or report when she doesn’t take her medicine. Also they’re severely underpaid by Crane’s Mill so why should they care? My grandmother developed several cases of gastritis, all of which were basically ignored by the staff, including the nurse and the PA, and my mom and uncle had to visit every single day to check up on how she was doing and ask the nurse what was going on. Things were especially bad on the weekends, when sometimes some of the staff wouldn’t even show up or the weekend staff wouldn’t be briefed on what was going on, even if it was basically life or death. Eventually one gastritis became so painful and serious that she needed serious attention, but the nurse wasn’t aware of it and the PA had called in sick for several days in a row and they didn’t have a back-up, so it sat until Grandma had to be sent to the hospital for emergency surgery. She died in ICU a week later. We would sue them if we could, but you have to sign away the right to do that to get a bed there, so that’s that. RIP Grandma.

I have a conflicting review to Rob S’s. My grandmother was given excellent care and rehab while staying at the Cranes Mill health center after a fall resulting in hip surgery. To this day, 2 years later, she still raves about the physical therapists, food and level of comfort during her time there. As a visitor, I found the facility to be clean, bright, amply staffed and possessing a high end feel. As a family, we were so glad that a place like Cranes Mill extends their services to non-residents. It was a tremendous relief during a stressful time. Living here permanently would be a real privilege.

My father has been here twice. Both in the wellness center for rehab. I cannot offer feedback on the assisted living portion however I can absolutely offer a review on the wellness center/rehab. I feared for my fathers safety. I witnessed a patient being restrained rather than helped. There is very little compassion for the elderly here. I will never send my father here again.
