Sorry Dave, you need to stick to oysters and stay away from brunch. Ordered the Eggs Benedict over crab cakes, Lobster Fritata, and Shrimp omelette. Everything was overdone and dry, specifically the Eggs and the asparagus was roasted too long. In general, the potatoes had no flavor. Has to ask for butter with our toast and then Old Bay Butter was served. Our waitress must have been hungover from NYE because the service was lacking and I know through reading your books that this is unacceptable. In the future I will stick to Monday night Buck a Shuck.

The food here is garbage. How does anyone give this place a good review. The oysters are $$ so I would expect a good size oyster, instead there short. I ordered the fish tacos, and they had nothing but lettuce and some weird sauce. The actual fried cod bits were all bread and what little fish there was in one piece of three, was dry. The lobster Mac and cheese should just be called Mac and cheese. 80 dollars? Should have went to long John silver for 10 dollars.

I am never too judgmental of service, since I have been a server myself for years. However, the service here for my first experience was horrible! No organization! The hostess had no idea what she was doing, so badly that we were standing there for a good ten minutes before I had to take control and tell her to put my on the waiting list. She seemed completely flustered. My server was even worse. It took 10 minutes to even get water, our wine took a good 20 minutes and came two reminders later, bread came halfway through our meal, and the swordfish we ordered was overcooked. I will say I like the atmosphere and the ahi tuna was very good. Overall, not a good first experience and I’m not sure I’ll be going back again.

Only had the bloody mary, but it was pretty bad. An oyster house should have a bloody mary that is defined as a meal. There Bloody was basically Ketchup and Vodka. Too sweet with no body. The bartender was nice and the service was decent. I will try to go back and have some food, but will avoid the Bloody.(inside tip: Roots Café just a block up makes a killer Bloody!)

This is usually my go-to restaurant, but EVERYTHING was off today. Two different tap beers were skunked and finally found an ok pour with a Lite. A Gay Street Lemonade was super sweet and not its normal taste. Ordered edamame and it came already shelled with no seasoning on it — it’s always been in the pod before with sea salt. Finally, our mahi tacos and the seared ahi tacos were crazy dry(over cooked) and tasteless. I got extra wasabi and sauce but it didn’t help. I’m not sure why, but something was really off today. I hope to see a big improvement in the future!!!

What can I say? I’ve never had anything bad from Doc’s. Their orange shrimp appetizer is amazing, they have good happy hour specials, their outside seating is nice when the weather permits, and they validate parking. Doc’s keeps me coming back again and again whether it’s on Mondays for $ 1 oysters or on the weekends for a good date spot. Whenever friends and family come to town and want to experience West Chester, we always start(and usually end) at Doc Magrogan’s.

Disappointing. We asked the bar tender if we could get fried oysters, which are not on the menu, he said no problem. We asked how many, he said 4 per order so we asked for two orders. When the oysters came out there we only six not eight. They were nothing but breading. We couldn’t even find the oysters in two of the lumps of fried breading. We ate two and sent the remaining dough back. They did not charge us for the order.

Terrible terrible terrible and expensive. The lobster bisque was too can’t, the drinks tasted like they were virgin. Avoid at all costs!!!

Great Service, Great Food and Great Atmosphere! We ordered a dozen oysters and they were Awesome! We also tried the calamari and it was the best I’ve ever had! Finally, the best lobster ravioli ever! My wife and daughter each ordered a 1 lb lobster and it was perfect! Overall it was a great time as we went for my wife’s birthday and we will be back.

Loved the atmosphere, lobster roll was delicious, service was good. The PEI oysters were microscopic, so we weren’t charged for them. The food is pricey but I would back again.

I came here for lunch(10⁄17) because I was craving fried oysters and I was not disappointed. The oysters were huge, fresh and cooked perfectly: made to order, crispy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. They were magnificent! My problem with the dish is that it was served with a very small portion of tartar sauce(not enough for 5 large oysters) and no fresh lemon or cocktail sauce… not even an alternative dipping sauce like something spicy or even garlic-butter. I wanted to ask for some lemon but the bartender never returned after dropping off my plate. Even though there were only three people at the bar, the service was very slow and not friendly at all. I felt like you needed to be a regular to get his attention. 4-stars for food 1-star for service

My first visit and my last. Just spent $ 21.00 for fried oysters and fries. Fries were the best part of the meal(ketchup was okay). They presented 8 little balls of fried crust covering the smallest, mushy oysters. I eat 3 hoping it would get better but the 4th was mush and foul. I told the waiter and he said he was sorry. I paid the bill. Lesson learned but it was not cheap.

Went in last night for my first visit. We were seated outside on a Friday night without waiting. Throughout the meal our server Sean was friendly, attentive, and quick. We started off with the lobster mac to share. The sauce and pasta were perfect! For a main course I had the fish and chips. The tartar sauce was the best I’ve ever had, and the aioli with the chips was light and flavorful. She had the mixed plate with salmon, scallops, and shrimp. Everything was cooked well and delicious. Oh, their dinner rolls with butter were hot and fresh! Our entrees came out piping hot so I know they didn’t sit in the window. Inside, they nailed the décor and ambiance with thousands of little touches that added up to create a gorgeous whole picture. Highly recommend!

I have been going here since college; was extremely disappointed this time around.(Service complaint) Went with a few friends for my birthday dinner, we called ahead to ask for an outdoor table at 7– they said they could accommodate us at 7:30. When we arrived at 7:25, they did not have any outdoor seating for us and it would be at least a 20 minute wait. We decided to sit inside. It was a normal dinner rush that evening, nothing crazier than normal. All four in my party ordered wine, we did not receive our drinks until AFTER our appetizers. From there on, it was even more disappointing. The server never asked during our meal if everything was fine, the manager that night was walking around and was going to every table but ours to see if they were okay. We waited for about 10 – 15 minutes with out empty dinner plates in front of us until our server finally came back around– where we were able to order only our second drinks. At the end, we said something to our waiter of how disappointed we were. His response was that there was not enough wine glasses that night. He never got the manager to come over and to talk to us. Two of us were/are servers and it takes a lot for us to complain. With drinks being that late, the server should have told us about the shortage of glasses AND should have had a manager come over to talk to us. It is going to be awhile before we go back.

This was our second time at Doc’s and we enjoyed it both times. We ordered oysters and shared some appetizers both times so I can’t comment on the regular entrees. But oysters were fresh and they have a nice selection, mostly East Coast. They could have been shucked a little cleaner though. From our first time there I learned that their food could be hit or miss. So second time around we were smarter and shared calamari — delicious, blt lobster tacos — good, and old bay fries — really good. We finished with oyster shooters — perfect combo of lemon vodka, cocktail sauce and fresh oyster. And could not help it but get some of their frozen desserts — cookies and cream for me and cream and raspberries for my husband. All in all, our bill was about $ 100 before tip and that included dozen oysters and glass of wine each. Service was exceptional all throughout the dinner and we left very happy.

A great selection of raw oysters service was good, the«chowder fried» we’re a great side hidden on the menu.

We recently hosted our son’s rehearsal dinner at Doc’s, and could not have been more pleased with the event. The staff assigned to our group of 40 went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly, and our guests were happy. The food was absolutely over the top amazing! Lauren and Marissa did an exceptional job making sure everything was top notch, and I am so thankful for their patience, professionalism and expertise! Wendy & Gary P.

Stopped by for brunch on a nice sunny day. Order several raw ouster which were delicious. N my gf had a bloody Mary with shrimp and she said that was on point. We both had a pasta dish which was delicious. The bartender was helpful and service was right. I don’t have anything bad to say about my visit.

This went from a horrible review to an A-Ok review. Asked for a medium rare brunch burger, received a well done burger with burnt bacon and 4 bite sized bits of potato with an awkward arrangement of grapes and strawberries. I took a couple bites hoping the burger would be more red and put it down on my plate. My boyfriend ordered their crabcake eggs benedict which came with fully poached eggs(no runny yolk), cold crabcakes, and dried out asparagus. We’re not picky people and we never send food back to the kitchen, ever. The manager came around and we both hesitated when she asked us how everything was. We explained what happened with our order and it was clear we hadn’t eaten much of our brunch. Without even blinking she said she would replace our meal and that it would be comped. I’ve never seen such instant customer service. The food that replaced our original dish was night and day, it was like different people had cooked it. I’m not jumping this to a 4 star because even though the replacement food we received was exceptionally better, it was still just mediocre food. I have to say that the service is great, the servers and managers were quick, apologetic, and did everything they could to make our experience better.

Tonight was my first time eating at Doc Magrogan’s and I was quite happy with my experience. Meals eaten: New England Clam Chowder, Seafood Chiffoni and Dark Chocolate Raspberry Cake. The food was delicious but the service could have been a little better along with possibly lower wine prices. We came here for Valentine’s Day and I think we will certainly be back to give it another shot.
