The best restaurant in downtown WC and it’s not even close in my book. Granted, I love cajun food and the corresponding head sweat. I’ve probably eaten here 6 times over the past 18 months and every time has been class. They always have enticing specials and their beer list is strong, to quite strong. Gotta try and the alligator as the appetizer! Only word of warning is that the setting is intimate and at times can be quite loud on weekend nights — neither bother me, personally. However, someone who wants a more quiet, private setting would be better served at another location in my opinion. Looking forward to my next visit.

Love the food! And they have Gluten Free options. We have been going there for years. Their Blackened items are great.

This is a unique little spot in WC. A taste of New Orleans cooking with loads of flavor, spice and charm. Always packed. Delicious food and great beer menu.

The food was nasty! My husband took the steak, it was very very done, it was like rubber. I had Etouffe. It was very salty. The server was not nice, when we asked what he can advice, he didn’t say nothing, like he don’t know nothing. And price so expensive but it’s not worth for this food. It was last time when I came there.

Great restaurant for creole/Cajun food! Only place of its kind in the area. My only complaint is that a lot of the food is very spicy.

This is my 5th time here and i always love it! I recommend the prefix — the combos I’ve had are: poached pear salad, blackened chicken entrée, bourbon pecan pie . & today I had goat cheese salad, blackened crab cake, key lime pie. This place is so exquisite in this cajun New Orleans vibe– the décor is just like being down south, it’s cozy, staff is always great. I wish I knew a place like this back home in NYC!

Now its called vodoo which is a better name to describe how amazing this place is. 1. The ambiance: omg i just feel so relaxed there and seriously was there eating from 7pm-midnight and it felt like a blink cuz it was so relaxing and fun. 2. The staff: they are so caring and kind and explain their favorite dishes. Me and my friend(2 people) ordered 4 appetizers and 4 main course and 2 desserts. The staff were so nice to explain their favorites and wow was it amazing. 3. Best dish was this super spicy voodoo shrimp served on rice wow!!! Oh and the salad its the first one on the menu. I wish i had the menu so i can tell u what its called. Spinach and goat cheese i think. But it was so complex the taste and delicious. And the blackened spicy chicken wings r so good. Oh also had the blackened chicken with the crab cake yummmm. Those were all so incredible. And the desserts we had the bourbon pecan pie and a flourless chocolate torte. Yum! 4. Parking: they have free parking behind which makes it easy 5. Go again? Absolutely. If i could id eat there everyday! LOVE this place. Wish they sold their hot sauce they had on that shrimp it was incredible. Yumm. Highly reccommend.

If you like Cajun food, I highly recommend this place. I have been here a couple times and always gotten Cajun dishes, though they have more items than that on their menu if you want something else. We had the Cajun pork dumplings for an appetizer– mouth watering! My husband raved over the pulled pork jambalaya and I had the crawfish etoufee. I have also had the shrimp Diabla and it was very spicy but delicious. Generous portion sizes and bread is also included with a tasty Cajun butter. We had a delicious white chocolate peanut butter cheesecake for dessert. This place is tiny, so it gets crowded. If you are claustrophobic you may not like it :) Definitely make a reservation. It’s got a cool vibe to it and isn’t noisy even though it is so busy. It also has a bar with TVs that are visible from most seats in the restaurant.

Good food, great drinks. If I was into Cajun style more I’d probably rate it higher. Atmosphere is fun and it’s a nice change when you’re in a slump or if you are really into something a little less common.

High Street always offers quality service, excellent food, an an impressive alcohol selection. The only downside is the tightness of the tables, which could cause a less intimate experience with just your party. I always get the pierogis they are a staple, as well as the blackened catfish. I can’t recall a bad meal at High Street and I am there at least once a month. If you have a sweet tooth save room for their decedent desserts. The bananas foster is my personal favorite, but the salted Carmel mousse is also incredible. Overall, this is a great place on a quieter part of town, offers street parking, and a nice place for a date or a double date.

Absolutely delicious every time! If you like Cajun food you have to go here. First off, I definitely went out of my comfort zone for the first time at a restaurant. I tried the alligator appetizer with the honey mustard sauce. My boyfriend somehow talked me into it. Never in my life would I think to have gator but I have to say it was so delicious and flavorful. It did in fact taste like chicken! I think what I liked most about it was it was cut into small bites so it kept the meat tender and crispy. I am so glad I tried it too I will have to order it again. I definitely recommend the jambalaya. It has tons of flavor, full of seafood, and just the right amount of spice to it. The fra Diablo was also very good. Wasn’t as spicy as I thought it was going to be but maybe that is because we had the XXX Shrimp! That was very tasty but I will warn you it’s HOT as in SPICY! So be aware. The desserts are also very good here. I recommend the pecan pie and tiramisu. Both are delicious. We both really enjoyed the meals, atmosphere(love the purple interior and lighting), and it was so reasonable. Can’t wait to go back again and try something else!

I’ve been to the voodoo around a couple times, and it has super tasty Southern cuisine. I got alligator sausage on the pizza, and it was great. If you like spice, definitely check out the creole sauce. Jambalaya was amazing!

Every time I’m in West Chester, this place is at the top of my ‘must do’ list. There’s not much that I don’t like about the place. It’s cozy, the staff is wonderful, good food, good drinks, and the restaurant completely nails it’s New Orleans theme. During my most recent visit I decided to go with one of the meal deals they had running for $ 35 you got a three course meal. Which, all things considered, isn’t a bad deal. I got the fried calamari for an appetizer. You can’t go wrong with their calamari. It’s amazing. For my entrée I got the mustard fried catfish. This is the only thing that fell a little short. The fish was fried with a homemade mustard sauce on top. The mustard sauce made the fish a little soggy, and just not as good. Next time I think I will request the mustard sauce on the side. The fish was definitely piping hot. For desert I got the mango sorbet. You can’t go wrong with the mango sorbet. It’s simply delightful. I have to give big props to the manager(I’m assuming he was the manage… Maybe the owner) but he is wonderful. He is so accommodating and does everything in his power to see that his guests leave happy. If you’re in West Chester, definitely give this place a try!

Let’s get the obvious out of the way: this place is very small. If you have a fear of claustrophobia, then this probably isn’t the ideal place to eat. However, if you don’t mind sitting in very close proximity to the table next you while enjoying excellent food, then this is the spot for you. Being a fan of Cajun food, I was surprised that this was my first visit here. After my girlfriend highly recommended we eat here for our weekly date night. I was immediately sold. What this restaurant lacks in retail space, it more than makes up for in both the excellent service and superb food. My girlfriend had the fra diablo which I stole a few bites from — it was outstanding to say the least. I had the jambalaya which was equally outstanding in its own right. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they have an impressive craft beer list, which is always a huge plus in my book. We most definitely will be back to eat here in the very near future. FYI: parking around the restaurant is pretty scarce, especially on a Friday/Saturday night. There is a Burger King across the street, but our server warned us that we ran the risk of our car being towed had we parked there. Your best bet is street parking.

Had a reservation at 7:30, got there at 7:20. Got a yummy drink at the bar and waited patiently. Place was packed! We were sat promptly at 7:32 latest. Immediately our server came over to us and he was fantastic. I want to say his name Kevin? It was loud so I’m not positive. He told us about a fried green tomatoes app. Done! We got those and the Cajun perogies. Absolutely delicious. We then got the other special he recommended, the filet with crawfish etoufette… Yummmmm. As well as the lobster ravioli. Food. Was. Incredible. Staff was pleasant and so helpful to each other. Great team atmosphere. Ambiance is fantastic. Everyone seems to really love their jobs and the customers seemed to really love everything else ! Great job guys! 5 stars all around.

The girlfriend and I came here last Thursday for dinner. I don’t live too far so I wish I had known about this place earlier. Had no problem getting a table without a reservation. I forget the waiter’s name but he was cool and attentive even though it seemed like he had a lot of tables. Huuuuge beer list with all the crafts you could imagine. I need to find the recipe for the cajun bread and butter. Stuff’s delicious, could eat ten pounds of it. I started off with the blackened alligator. Comes drizzled with creole honey mustard. My God, unbelievably good. For entrees, girlfriend had Etoufee with chicken and I had some sort of linguine with shrimp, crawfish, and calamari. Amazing. Portions are huge too so I had the rest for lunch the next day. Definitely coming back here very soon.

Saw the Unilocal reviews and stopped by. I wasn’t expecting to have one of the best sandwiches of my life in West Chester, PA but that is exactly what happened. I got the crab cake sandwich and it was out of this world amazing. The Voodoo sauce that I requested was just the perfect thing to put on here. I can handle my spice but this sauce had some serious kick to it. The cajun fries were home made and pretty good too. Service was super friendly and to top it all of, the meal was $ 9! How can you possibly beat that? Absolutely awesome place.

I love everything about New Orleans, but I especially love the food. So I was thrilled to hear there was a West Chester Restaurant cooking«creole fusion» not far from the college. I decided to join a dinner event our group was having last night to visit the Vudu/High Street Café and sample the delights offered by this well reviewed spot. Happy hour was pretty good. Had a nice micro-brewed lager beer for $ 3(so thankful it wasn’t Yuengling) from a nice selection of draft beers. Enjoyed a bowl of their shrimp, pulled pork and andouille sausage gumbo for $ 5. The soup was great with a nice dark roux and was delicious with an authentic, slow cooked gumbo taste. We then moved to our table for dinner and here is where things began to go downhill as far as service. Took some time for our waitress to take our order. I did not do the Price Fixe Menu, however, my girlfriend decided to go that route. She ordered the calamari as her first course(way too salty), the chicken and shrimp jambalaya for her second course(a huge portion over rice that she enjoyed) and key lime pie as desert. All that for $ 35. I had voodoo shrimp as an appetizer(it was smoking hot but its supposed to be). It was good but nowhere near as amazing as Dickey B’s famous version in NOLA. I also had the shrimp and chicken jambalaya which I also thought was just OK. If you want a better version in this area head down to the closest thing I ever found to New Orleans at Cajun Kates at the Booth Farmers Market in Glen Mills. Service was extremely disappointing. There were numerous times our waitress was nowhere to be found(smoke breaks?) I got my check before I got my coffee. We never were offered bread with their famous cajun butter. I didn’t know they had bread until we were leaving. I liked the ambiance of the restuarant-very cool vibe.

What an interesting little find, thanks to the Unilocal Talk threads who mentioned this hidden gem. Cajun, with a big NOLA vibe to the place. I loved the very long beer list and managed to find a couple that I’d not seen before. Good stuff. I opted to skip the appetizer and go right to the main course. Jambalaya, with added shrimp and crawfish. Very tasty and a little spicy, with a good amount of shellfish in there and lots of rings of squid, I believe. A good sized portion, I ended up only managing to eat half of it. And while the dessert list looked good, nothing jumped out and said eat me. Consider bringing a small flashlight or the light app on your phone. It’s dark in there! Street parking.
