This is one of my favorite local places to hang out and smoke hookah. The staff are attentive and always eager to help with recommendations if you simply can’t decide. Lots of options! My only suggestion is hoping they change /solidify their music choice. One night we stopped by and I am not sure what was playing… But I could imagine some people being offended. I’m not one of those people but I did ask myself, did I just hear that? Laughed and went on with my night.

Very good service! The guys were so friendly and were on point with changing the coals fast. They don’t have a wife food selection, but the panini there is very tasty. The hookahs are great and smooth, and they got funny names! Good and cozy space, and loved the music selection!

You can’t go wrong at Hookah Matata!!! Simply excellent. I was dying to try out this place. I heard nothing but wonderful things about Hookah Matata, and I’m thrilled that I did. A group of friends and I decided to try out this place just recently, and we had an absolute blast. When we first walked in, they said there would be about a 20 minute wait until they had a place for all of us. The employee at the register actually took down my cell phone number and he said he would call when they were ready for us. How neat! We walked next door and grabbed a drink. It wasn’t 15 minutes and they called. We were seated in the back, with lots of couches, which was wonderful for the group I was with. We were quickly given menus and our ‘waiter’ told us about the specials. I ordered a hot tea to drink. My group decided to try 2 different flavors of hookah: Sex on the Beach and Razzmatazz(at least that’s what I think it was called). Both were amazing. The staff was also very attentive. They replaced the coals often and they were just excellent. The only downside to our visit was they were out of a couple flavors that we wanted to try, but staff explained that it was because they were in the process of switching to a new menu. We didn’t mind. The fun atmosphere and wonderful staff made up for the smaller variety of flavors. Can’t wait to go back! Definitely a must if you’re in West Chester.

Great little spot that caters to the nearby West Chester University crowd. Prices are very reasonable and straightforward BYOB. The DJ on Friday night didn’t hit a dud the entire night we were there.

Hookah Matata is THE hookah bar in West Chester. Look no further for an inviting atmosphere. Unlike the other hookah bar around the corner, Hookah Matata is comfy and you are sure to have enough leg room to sit back and enjoy your delicious hookah. This review is ridiculously overdue. I’ve been going to Hookah Matata for over 2 years now and went for the very first time the week they opened. Hassan is awesome and extremely friendly, as is the great staff they have on board.

This is an embarassingly overdue review, as my fiancée and I have been coming to Hookah Matata for over a year now and have never had anything less than a stellar time. And that’s saying something, because we’re hookah snobs. So we’ll start with the obvious: the hookah. It is in a word, flawless, at HM. Well packed, a HUGE selection of flavors, and lots of little options for those of us with more specific tastes(natural coals available upon request, ice chambers, fruit bowls, the list goes on). I’m not one for a lot of bells and whistles but quality shisha(they have Al Fakher, Starbuzz, and more), natural coals, and a hookah maker who knows what they’re doing are a must, and HM has all of this in spades. You will NOT get a bad smoking experience here, even if you try. Secondly, the atmosphere. We prefer week nights or earlier in the day on Saturday, but we’re old fogies. It’s a very chill place to hang out and talk or watch a football game. It’s pretty happening later in the evening, always has good music and despite being so close to West Chester, isn’t overrun with drunk college kids. It IS open until 4 am on the weekends, so if you DO roll in at 2 am on a Saturday, expect the after-hours crowd, but don’t worry because the owner and staff do an amazing job keeping it comfortable and the atmosphere fun without being rowdy or obnoxious. It’s BYOB, which is nice because the prices are low but you can drink if you want. Overall? This is my favorite place to smoke besides my own living room. If ever a hookah bar earned the 5-star rating, it’s Hookah Matata.

This is a cool place to hit when u gather with friends. It’s a BYOB bar. The people were cool. Hookah was awesome and coal was changed at regular intervals without our request. Bit pricey but worth for the price. Music was moderate and bit crowds on weekend. I would definitely suggest this place for my friends and would visit again. Parking was tough near by. Had to walk for a while. :)

I LOVETHISPLACE! My friends and I are in town for a week and stopped by this place to hang out. The manager Andrew recommended the orange mint flavor and it’s AMAZING.(no charge for coals!) free wifi. great service. Great flavors selection. They play really good music and I like that the music isn’t too loud so we can hear each other. I highly recommend this place if you’re in the area :)

Service: Came and and walked to the register, was greeted and told to sit anywhere. The couch I sat on had two of it’s three support systems completely destroyed and the third felt like a solid piece of wood. They took about 15 minutes to come by and ask me what I would like to order. Hookah: Ordered an Al-Fakher Lemon/Mint combo, with ice chamber, ice hose and coconut coals. About 10 minutes later he brought it out with quick light charcoal and when I brought it to his attention, he swapped it out with the right coals. Everything was nice and cool, huge clouds. Price: $ 20

This was the first hookah bar I have been too and I was not impressed. In a party of six it cost about 50 $ so this was reasonable. We ordered two hookahs and the ones hose was not clear so we had to get another one, and the other did not suck at all. The drinks where bottled so they where exactly like getting one from wawa. The smoothies where ok, they where too Icey for my friends, but I found it to be adequate. The service was friendly but they where out of ice hookahs and out of some flavors. The place was very messy but the music was entertaining and at a level that you could here it but could talk to people across the room. I would come back but only in a group and I would recommend it to a friend but only if my next visit is better than my first one.

This was my first time going to a hookah room. It was a really relaxing place and the girl working at the place was really friendly. The couches were comfy and they have a back room for bigger parties. We got the mango ice and it was really good. A fun place to go after dinner out in West Chester.

By far the best hookah bar in the area. Amazing service, best quality hookah tobacco and very reasonable prices. I own a hookah shop, and know good quality hookah tobacco when I smoke it. Will definately return again. I highly recomend it. Thanks for making our night alot of fun.

I’ve become a bit of a Hookah fanatic the last year. I spend more time in Hookah Lounges and smoking hookah than I care to admit. I took a group of about 12 friends to Hookah Matata earlier this week. They use quality hookah’s(Kahlil Mamoons) and offer mostly Alfakher brand shisha with a limited selection of Starbuzz and Haze. I was disappointed not to see any speciality mixes, or higher quality shisha. They also see to often use small egyptian heads and over pack the shit out of them to where it’s difficult to even keep a coal on top. The staff seemed to have extremely limited knowledge on hookah in general. I was I also disappointed at the lack of fruit heads as I was hoping to entertain my group with it. No matter how much we tried to rotate the coals on the overpacked heads the shisha tasted burnt and at some point I just stopped being able to even smoke it. We ordered food, Nacho’s(good chips, terrible cheese and not much of it) and Hummus(some very generic, probably Tribe brand), which was pretty terrible and oversaturated with oil. We were in the VIP room, they didn’t turn on the TV or music(which kept getting abruptly changed and disrupting the atmosphere). The lights were too bright. One of my friends cut their leg on a sharp spring sticking out of the futon. The table seemed like it was about ready to brake. The server was nice, but seemed to have a great deal of trouble answering questions or taking our orders. Once the owner came in he was more accommodating, fixed the lights, put music on in the room, etc. However, the experience was already pretty awful by that point. Most of my friends ended up leaving early. I tried to make the best out of the experience and give the place a chance. However, even when I tried to get a basic refill for a new flavor they refused until I told them I’d pay them twice as much as normal for a refill. For three hookahs, two orders of hummus two orders of nachos and 15 drinks(or so) we paid around $ 160 dollars(and that was even after a 10% discount from checking in!) I had really hoped for a lot more.

By far the best hookah lounge experience you can possibly get in the West Chester area. I was very impressed with the high standard of quality matched with the very reasonable pricing and awesome staff. I’ve been going at least once a week for the last month or so, and I’ve never had a remotely negative experience.

Living in the city, I was sure there had to be a catch when I saw the pricing on hookah here. Incredibly reasonable and one coal lasted forever. Being in a college town, you get some riffraff kids circling through on the weekends,(when did I get so old?!) but the staff was very attentive and helpful. Good music and BYOB friendly.
