John was personable to the point of being entertaining while he worked! Very knowledgeable, he explained everything in detail so that it was easy to understand. He identified an issue with the ceramic back wall of the chimney and patched it cheaply and quickly on the spot! And of course, he swept the chimney, and even had me look up the flue to see how clean it was. Highly recommended!

Couldn’t be happier with the service provided. John knows his stuff — he kept me informed through out the process as this is our first wood burning stove. Unlike other services that I called, he showed up on time — very impressive compared to other services who never showed up at all.
Our wood burning stove and chimney is perfectly clean and ready for winter. I would use Let There Be Light again and give them a very strong recommendation.

John did a fantastic job. We just purchased our house and the chimney hadn’t been cleaned in years. It is now pristine. He also looked over our entire fireplace system (doors, etc.) and made some useful suggestions. Best of all, he didn’t try to upsell me or sell me services that I don’t really need. He also sweeps the chimney from the bottom so all of the soot goes out the top. He left the area clean as a whistle. I will definitely have him back next season.

John takes the time to explain what’s going on with your entire chimney system. He does top notch work and always cleans up before he leaves. He has been in business for 31 years and I can tell why; A+ service. John also can recommend a mason if needed.
One other point, his rates are reasonable for the service he provides. I have no problem recommending him to anyone.

While I guess they did an okay job on my chimney, how can I be sure? The follow up later was a mess. I asked for a copy of my report later and after 7 calls, I received a long message saying they would have to go through their paper records looking for my receipt if I could tell them the exact date they inspected my chimney and it would cost $ 100 for a copy of my invoice. In today’s electronic world, who keeps their records on paper and by date rather than by client? This lack of using simple, inexpensive, up to date technology to keep client records makes me concerned about their service in general. There are other good less expensive service providers.
