After grabbing lunch at the new Izzy Kadetz location in West Chester the other day, we had a hankering for something sweet. The Cupcake Factory, a storefront just a few steps away from Izzy’s, seemed to call our names. I, for one, was expecting a place called«The Cupcake Factory» to have a LOT of cupcakes. I don’t know, maybe I’m the only one who would come to this assumption… but in the entire display case there was one lone plate of Devils Food and Yellow Cupcakes. Cookies, rice krispies, and other bakery treats were the dominant items available. I was also hoping for some really cute cupcakes, you know the ones that are all decorated with little icing animals and flowers on top? No such luck, just basic cupcakes with basic white icing. Strange. I got a cupcake anyways, a Devils Food(60 cents!). I have to admit that the cupcake was incredibly delicious, if boring in appearance. The icing was so sweet it gave me a toothache but I think if you’re only eating a small cupcake the level of sugar is tolerable. The chocolate cake was rich and moist. My mom grabbed an Oatmeal Raisin cookie for $.40, she loved it and was pleased that the cookie was of normal size, not gigantic like so many bakeries insist on presenting these days. The Cupcake Factory specializes in Cupcake Cakes to order, books of possible designs sit on a table out front but no examples had been made up, I wish there had been some. Overall, great(if basic) cupcakes and cheap. This place also offers coffee drinks and smoothies. The employees were really friendly, too!
