Great place. Friendly and homey with good service. Excellent bakery next door too!

Highly dissapointed. I ordered the baba ganoush to go and not only was it runny bit it lacked all flavor. And they gave me a commercial bag of cut up pita. For $ 8+ I would have expected better. Nothing compares to Aroma in King of Prussia. They are the best.

I had a fabulous first date here so maybe I am bias, but I loved everything about The Mediterranean. The restaurant is situated in super cool West Chester’s main drag in what appears to be an old rowhome. The whole vibe was quaint, cozy, and friendly. For starters we ordered a sampler platter situation, and everything was fabulous. The stand out for me was the stuffed grape leaves. They weren’t overly bitter like they tend to be in other establishments. For my entrée I ordered tuna kabobs which were perfectly cooked. I forget what my date ordered, but I do remember him saying it was delicious! The Med is also a BYOB which adds to the awesomeness. This is a great, laid back spot to escape the college crowd mayhem and enjoy a wonderful meal.

Stopped by for lunch today and had the Lamb gyro. All ingredients were super fresh and the lamb is local/grass fed. This is not your traditional gyro with sliced meat that tastes artificial. The meat is chopped and presented in a charred wrap with diced tomatoes, lettuce, diced onions and a home made tzatziki which perfectly coats the meat — it’s not thick like traditional tzatziki. Five stars. Best gyro I have had to date.

healthiest food in west chester, great family run community oriented restaurant, second oldest restaurant in west chester, great setting, what more could you want! The menu is americanized but still very traditional for you foodies as they did a great job creating this unique gem of West Chester! I would suggest going for a date night and remember to pick some wine on your way there!

Overall terrible experience. Went to the Mediterranean in West Chester with my fiancé for our first Valentine’s Day together since we got engaged. We’d been there before and thought it was great, but were severely disappointed. After waiting to be seated(with reservations) it took 25 minutes for a waitress to see us. Despite asking, we weren’t given wine glasses or bread for an extra 15. After waiting 1 hour and 15 minutes for our food, we asked the manager politely if we should add more to the meter. The manager rolled his eyes at us and stormed off. After 15 more minutes(now here a total of an hour and a half) we heard a loud crash downstairs, then overheard our food spilled from a busboy. The waitress, for the first time, told us our food would take a while, without explanation. After finally getting our food, we left disappointed with our Valentine’s Day ruined. Never going back, and would not recommend.

I was visiting my parents for my Mom’s birthday and was blown away by this place! First, the place is very cute and cosy. Second, it is a small local business run by a family and everyone was extremely friendly and took great care in serving us; great hospitality. Lastly, and most importantly, THEFOOD! I had the falafel encrusted chicken and my mouth is watering just thinking about it as I write this. Also, they treated my mom to a chocolate cake with a fruit filling and it was one of the best cakes I’ve ever had. I am getting married this fall and we joked about having it for the wedding cake! I highly recommend this place! Delicious!

Come for the food. They always use fresh and local as much as possible. My family loves this place. We go, bring a bottle of wine, and have a great meal. The best thing is we never feel stuffed or guilty when we leave, even if we ate a lot. It is a small place and they cook everything to order, so if it’s busy, prepare to wait — bring an extra bottle of wine. Deserts are homemade too — don’t forget about them. Sitting outside in the nice weather is a treat. Upstairs can be noisy when it’s busy. Falafel encrusted shrimp and humus are great. Filet mignon is great if they have it as a special. We normally opt for the fresh seafood entrees. The caesar salad is the best — just prepare for lots of fresh garlic if you order it.

Went here with three others on a Saturday recently. I’d heard and read so much about the place and it did not disappoint. Our waiter was young but very polite and efficient. It is an old house so there is a tremendous warmth and character to the place. We all had starters and entrees and everyone loved them. Unfortunately we had dessert plans but they looked amazing and I’ll definitely try next time.

I was working in the area and did a search for Middle Eastern, my favorite kind of food. Found this place and looked at menu and saw the prices were a little high but figured it’s fresh and in a high rent district. Stopped in for some take out on a Friday. The place was pretty dead, one table. I ordered hummus and a tradition gyro. I inquired about a coke or something, but was told they«no longer serve carbonated beverages. For health reasons, ya know?» Great food ideologues! She offered some tea, but I declined. My order was done in about 5 minutes. When I got to my work truck to eat, there was no pita bread for my hummus, but vegetables! Who serves hummus without pita bread? I used the vegetables to eat the hummus. Then used my gyro as a shovel and finally finished it with the bed of lettuce at the bottom. There’s plenty of restaurants in the area. Next time I’ll do Mexican.

Very disappointed. The Med was our go to BYOB but we’ll be thinking twice after our experience last night. Recieved water and wine glasses 20 minutes after we asked for them — after sitting for 10 minutes. Over an hour and a half for our food. No one came back to see if we needed anything at any point in time unless we flagged them down. Falafel was very hard like it sat under heat lamp too long. They ran out of rice and pita bread. Ugh, won’t be going back.

Service is horrible… over an hour wait after we ordered. Also portions are a complete rip off for the price.

The food was wonderful; fresh and light bread served with delicious sesame and olive dipping oil. The falafel was some of the best I’ve had, it was really moist and crunchy. The lamb and grass fed filet mignon were so tender and flavorful. The only downfall of the place was the dessert and Turkish coffee. The baklava was sub par; it had granulated sugar and cinnamon, which I didn’t like, and the Turkish coffee was just regular coffee served in a Turkish coffee pot. As a Turk, I didn’t enjoy the coffee because I was expecting real Turkish coffee. Other than that, I recommend for excellent food

Excellent from beginning to end! Grape leaf and falafel appetizers were fresh, tasty, and served promptly on a great night to dine outside. Our waiter David was attentive and the young girl who assists was timely and pleasant as well. We both opted for kabobs. One lamb, one chicken, we’re very tasty, well seasoned, and accompanied with either beans or humus. Very satisfied. A little Turkish coffee and fresh baklava at the end of out meal was perfect!

Where do I begin… After a gorgeous day at the Longwood Gardens my boyfriend and I wanted a fairly casual BYOB night out. After reviewing Faunbrook’s catalog of local menus, we decided the Mediterranean would suit us well. Their menu seemed great and the reviews, fair enough to give it a try. We showed up 10 minutes early for our reservation time only to have confused the wait staff as to where we should be seated. Outside? Downstairs? Upstairs? Where?! So we finally say upstairs after requesting outside only to be told«yes we have a table… Oh wait no we don’t…» We arrive upstairs to find the noisiest of noise levels. We have to yell to hear each other. After waiting 10 minutes with no glasses, no napkins and no silverware, we flagged down someone who seemed like a busboy to get us some glasses for our wine. He brought us 2 cheap plastic champagne glasses. Thanks… Then another 15 or so minutes go by with not even an acknowledgement from any staff member. Finally some young girl brings us pita bread and some gooey green dip which was a far cry from pesto if that’s what it was supposed to be. We requested that we finally place our order and she said«sure let me go get your server.» Another 5 minutes down and frustrated we finish our champagne glass of wine and the«busboy» comes over an says«so do you wanna hear the specials?» Surprise! The guy who gave us crappy glasses, no water and no utensils was our server who couldn’t care less about how long we waited. Without a second more we said we were just going to leave and he said«ok…» Took our pita bread and dip and walked away without an apology or anything. We walked 30 feet to the Olive Branch and had an impeccable meal with top notch service. Long story short… Don’t waste your time. Unless you are looking for a place to sit and have a glass of your own wine… Then go right ahead!

I was unfortunately disappointed with this place. The food was good over all, and came out in a rather timely fashion. The servers were rather laid back and pretty chill, which is sometimes okay. We had a reservation for 8 people, and only 6 showed up. I was mortified though at 1 hour and 45 minutes, we got our check,(almost $ 200, and its a BYOB), and then were asked rather swiftly TWICE, by 2 different servers, if we were about ready to leave, because they had double booked our table with another reservation and needed to turn the tables for it. I don’t blame the servers, as they tried to do it as nicely as possible. I was very upset that management could not come over and explain the situation and ask us. Why would you double book a large party like ours, and then ask us to leave? Especially when we spent as much money as we did? Offer the people that did not have a table yet complimentary appetizers because of your mistake, don’t ask your current patrons to leave! Because of this, I will not go back unfortunately. It’s a shame, because the food and atmosphere was rather decent.

I do like Mediterranean and middle east food. It is something that can be fantastic if done right. The place: The atmosphere is friendly. It’s small with two levels. The first floor is nice if you sit right in front of the windows other wise you feel like your in a hallway going into the kitchen. The upstairs is a better bet. Could use a bit more attention to detail through out. The food: The menu is uninspired and offers some staples of Mediterranean fair. The claim to be be in the style of Italian and Lebanese– not so sure. The food was good, we got the falafel and the Kibbi platter. Both were good but not outstanding. They tasted fresh and well made. The pita that comes with the meal is a bit thin for dipping which is a shame as the dips were all very good. The service: Service was good. The server was personable and friendly. Not the quickest or the most knowledgeable, but better the average. Bottom line: I would go back, but not high on the list as I have had better Mediterranean experiences. Not sure if I would take guests as it’s just not that interesting.

Came here for lunch with my mom. We both liked the food, and the service was pretty good. I think the interior could use an updating — it is very dark and a bit dreary which makes it seem dusty when it wasn’t. We both had the pumpkin soup which was very good, filled with chunks of mushrooms, carrots and other veggies. I had the spinach salad which I would get again but ask for the dressing on the side. By the time I got to the bottom, it was quite soggy. Mom got the greek chicken salad and loved it.

Tasty food and groovy little atmosphere! I am definitely a snob when it comes to treats such as hummus and tabouli, so when I discovered this place and the wonderful appetizers it serves, I was thrilled. Everything is always fresh and presented with a touch of creativity. Try the soups. You won’t be sorry. Stuffed grape leaves are heavenly. The entrees I’ve occasionally tried have all been top-notch. Service is usually a local college student trying to make it through the semester, so be generous with your tip. Recommended.
