They describe themselves as a family-owned authentic Mexican food business and they deliver. Everything has tasted very fresh, the food is very good and the workers(all family maybe) are very nice! I especially like that the gentleman, who appears to be the patriarch of the group, is standing watch over everything quietly… he is either quiet or speaks little English, but either way I feel like he’s making sure things run smoothly!:). The salsa bar is great and they go from a mild & yummy red wine salsa(red thin, creamy, smokey light heat w/onion), salsa verde & very hot(5 kinds?), along w/a tasty corn-pepper-jalapeño-oil & black pepper condiment. I got the two tacos today w/rice & black beans(or refried if u prefer); I picked the fish taco & pulled pork authentic taco. I mixed the corn stuff w/the rice & that was good too. This was my 2nd trip & I will be back. I saw they also served a milk w/cinnamon & honey in a dispenser that I wanna try. Thanks!

The food here is consistently fresh and delicious! Many vegetarian options with a good variety of vegetables(unlike some other Mexican restaurants whose veggies consist of onions and peppers only). Service is friendly and fast. Definitely recommend! We love the guacamole, chili and quesodillas. We actually love everything!

This place has gone so far down hill. The authentic tacos, there a joke. Spoonful of meat and bunch of onions. If I didn’t drive all the way home with my food I would have given it back and asked for refund. I dont recommend it all.

Great spot for lunch… The tacos are about $ 3 and come on corn. They are gluten free :) it is very low key, but clean and quick.

This place just does not have good Mexican food. I do understand that any Mexican food is hard to come by in the surrounding area, but that is no excuse for this. I don’t know what else to say about it.

I have had Red Sombrero takeout twice in about seven days. Both times I had a burrito. Everything about their food is excellent. Mind you, I have eaten it takeout both times since I live in Wilmington. I think if I ate it at on location my head might explode. The pork is delectable. I want to try the other meats as well. Salsas are all delicious. I also had the chicken tortilla soup which satisfied. Keep up the great work! I will be a regular.

I loved Baja Fresh, I mean LOVED… and they are all closed in this area now. Boo! That being said… and the fact that I have boycotted Mesa Grill in Springfield for over a year now due to an awful experience… I have been searching for a place like Baja Fresh. I’ve seen Red Sombrero in the past while going to PJ’s and I finally decided to give it a try. The following is my review: Service: one woman at the counter and two men on the grill(which is open for your viewing pleasure). The woman was VERY nice. There seemed to be a lot of regulars dining this evening. It was around 5:30 on a Tuesday and there was a decent rotation of people while I was there… including several for take out. Food: I ordered the house nachos and one fish taco. The nachos were not Baja Fresh nachos, but they were good. They had black beans, which I love. They were fairly cheesy. The had delicious guacamole on top! The«sour cream» was the kind that comes out of a squeeze bottle so it was more or less drizzled over them which I never like because you don’t actually taste the sour cream. I prefer a good scoop of sour cream that I can dip into. The ratio of toppings to chips was a little off but I feel like no one ever gets the ratio right. I could have used more chips for my toppings. I could definitely do without the lettuce. It didn’t add to the dish at all. It just kind of got in the way. If I ordered them again, I would definitely request them without lettuce. I got the fish taco, not the«Baja fish taco» because I wanted grilled fish and not fried fish. I am very sensitive to fish tasting fishy and there were bites of this which were very fishy and turned me off. The dressing and the veggies underneath the fish were delicious and very well flavored! I probably wouldn’t get this taco again. I tried 3 salsas from the salsa bar which I believe had 5 or 6 total. I liked the green and the thin red salsa… I actually found this to be hotter than the other 2 even though it was on the left hand said which were the more mild salsas. I did not like the chunky red salsa at all. Atmosphere: Good. Gave the feeling of being clean… although, some of the tables needed to be actually cleaned… not just crumbs wiped off by other patrons. But I feel like that happens in these«order up» kinds of places. Anywhere where the food was being handled seemed clean. I liked the outside dining option. There was a small chalkboard out front advertising some food and the fact that they are BYOB. There’s one TV in the dining area. The salsa bar and soda fountain area all seemed well maintained. I like that there were napkin dispensers on the table. The bathroom seemed clean… although the toilet didn’t flush well. I had to flush a second time just to get the toilet paper to go down. I also notice they use the super soft toilet paper which may be part of the problem. Overall, it’s not Baja Fresh, but it was good. I would return

Great neighborhood spot. Good for fams or a cas date nite. BYOB or Byo– tequila and they provide the margarita mix. I highly recommend the fish tacos. Add your fav level if heat at their multi-optioned salsa bar

Delicious and unassuming. Tons of salsas to choose from and good, home-cooked feel for each dish. If you want straightforward, well-spiced, authentic Mexican food, look no further.

By far my favorite Mexican place in the West Chester area. They have a great selection of burritos and platters. Their homemade chips are amazing – they fry pure corn tortillas. They have a terrific selection of homemade salsas as well. Staff is always super friendly.

I love this place. I tried the shrimp verde tacos. Awesome. I also love the authentic tacos. Also very good. Churros are good too. Everyone in the family can find something they like. Also, they have every salsa you could want.

We love Red Sombrero and travel across the state line from Delaware a couple of times a month to enjoy the great food, casual atmosphere, and affordable prices. The fact that it is BYO is a bonus, and allows our family of three to enjoy a bottle of wine, a Mexican soda, and a great assortment of Mexican food for about $ 30. Everything is prepared fresh and quickly and the owners are always quick with a funny comment or witty jab. We always start with the chicken or steak nachos, followed by an assortment of tacos. The salsa bar is a nice touch, and the hot salsa really packs a punch! We definitely recommend a visit to Red Sombrero for a great casual meal that will leave you filled with some change left in your pocket.

I’m sorry to say this was my first time eating here and the food was terrible. My husband had the gringo style tacos & I the chimichanga. The chicken tasted boiled with absolutely no taste – not even salt. Refried beans, rice, salsas – also tasteless. It’s a shame because the place has a nice look and feel. Menus are beautifully done on card stock, but for basically a fast food restaurant, menus are likely costing the owners way too much. A brochure style to-go menu on lower quality paper would suffice & lower costs. I don’t know how the beef & pork are done, but everything needs salt, meat needs to be marinated, seasonings, etc. With a nice atmosphere and friendly staff already in place, this place could be so much more if the food improves. If not, I doubt many customers would return. I hope things here will improve.

Pretty disappointed with the guacamole. I stopped in to grab a snack — chips and supposedly house-maid guacamole. The container was a good size for $ 5.99, but the guacamole tasted like every chainstore restaurants’ — definitely needs help if they are truly making it here in house.

We’ve been here a few times and the management change was palpable on the most recent visit, and that’s a good thing. This is a no-frills Mexican place in a strip mall. You place your order at the counter and they make it up fresh while you wait, usually less than 10 minutes for a group of 4 or so. Prices are very reasonable and they have a salsa bar with at least 5 choices. The service on our visit was quite friendly despite the fact that they were very busy behind the counter. We ordered 3 of the Super burritos, a kids quesadilla, and a regular quesadilla, along with a couple orders of guacamole and chips. The guac was really good, and both adults and kids mowed it down so fast that we had to go get another helping despite it being a nice sized portion. I heard no complaints on the main courses, and my chorizo burrito was excellent. I could barely finish it after eating too many chips, but the flavor was really nice. I like to apply salsas from the bar to mine as I eat it which adds some nice heat. Burritos are a good deal as they come with chips and a fountain drink, and our bill for 4 adults and 2 kids was only $ 55, which I consider a great deal. We’ll definitely be back, especially after reading positive reviews of the fish tacos.

The hubs has always loved this place and I have to say I am a pretty big fan myself! I am the only real Mexican food lovin’ person in my family, so it’s hard to get anybody to go with me. He always gets the HUGE burritoes… This past Saturday I got their weekend special plate which was some Picadello(kind of a special ground beef taco mixture), rice and refried beans topped with some cheese. Also came with some quac and sour cream on the side and some tortillas which I didn’t end up using… Loved it all! Highly recommend!

While visiting family in West Chester, and craving authentic Mexican food(we are from So California); we happened upon the Red Sombrero for lunch. We ordered fish tacos and tacos al pastor, delicious! Their salsa bar has quite a selection(five) of homemade salsas, they are all great! It was hard to pick a favorite(so make sure you try them all), but the red wine salsa was a stand out for us. We loved it so much we bought a container to take home(TSA’s gonna love us, haha). This will definitely be a permanent stop for us when we come come to West Chester to visit family! (Very casual, BYOB, friendly counter service, tables outside)

New owners sometimes mean trouble with new menus and drastic changes… but the good news is that I’m happy to say the Red Sombrero still has the same great food as before! *whew* The good(there’s a lot of them ;) — The new décor is subtle, but nice. — It’s the same menu with 7 new burritos added and fish tacos also added. — The free salsa bar still exists(the red wine salsa is amazing and life changing)…judge for yourself. — I noticed 1 – 2 of the same cooks still there from the previous owner(always a good sign). — And it’s still BYOB with great margarita mix(BYOT!) for about $ 5 for enough for 3 – 4 ritas and they provide the glasses btw. Note: if you forget the tequila, there is a wine and spirits store a few stores down. I got a new chirizo burrito and it it is definitely different with more toppings and actually less greasy then before. The wife’s chicken fajitas tasted great as always too. My burrito was packed with fresh ingredients and it was a bargain at $ 8.50 for the burrito, a drink and chips(with aforementioned amazing free salsa). I spoke with the new owner, Tom who has owned the restaurant since the end of 2012. He was nice and accomodating when he sensed I was worried about the new changes — but i was won over with the first bite. We will be back, for sure. One small con is they don’t have a website yet that i can find… but I’m sure the new owner will resolve this soon. Overall, you wont be dissappointed with the new ownership! :oD

My boyfriend is a massive fan of this place so he took me here one day for a quick, yummy, reasonably priced dinner. I have to say, even though we went right before closing, this place had food that tasted fresh, was delicious, and the staff was really nice. Get whatever the special is … it’s worth whatever they recommend that day.
