Awesome take-away place. The sushi platters are awesome.

Tsunami is arguably the best restaurant in West Chester. I have been here several times and I have had many of their appetizers and entrees — I have yet to find one that I did not enjoy. I have never been a big fan of sushi and yet this place has gotten me addicted to it. The food is so incredibly fresh, the prices are great and I love that this is BYOB. My friends and I really enjoy going and look forward to many more visits in the future.

I am giving this restaurant a generous rating of 3 stars because they tried. The Thai food itself was more of a 1 star. The soda was nicely carbonated and they provide free refills of good quality soda so that brings my rating to 2 stars. The fact that they noticed I didn’t eat my food, charged lunch menu prices even though it was 20 minutes after 3pm, took 40% off of the final check price and had an extensive conversation with me explaining their cooking methods and why their chicken does not have any fibers and is of a gelatinous consistency brought them to 3 stars. They claim to be known for their sushi and not their thai food. I can’t speak to how well their sushi is however since I didn’t try it. If any of you go to this restaurant and try their sushi, please post your review of it.

Outstanding dinner tonight. We also order fresh Sashimi which always great. The best salad to order here is the Seafood Tartar! I would try anything here as Ming the owner Sushi Chef is a master!

Tsunami is an excellent spot if you’re into quality food and good service. I tried Tsunami on a whim one night when looking for sushi and have been back on a regular basis ever since. I’ve had several of their specialty rolls, pad Thai, miso salmon, teriyaki chicken and drunken noodles. I can’t say I’ve had a bad meal there and the staff really cares about your experience. Tsunami is a hidden gem in West Chester! Highly recommended for date night or girls night out!

Very delicious and the owners are awesome. Very sweet and gave me a special roll for ordering from them for the first time. They also gave us 2 small salads with a yummy ginger dressing. The only downside was I ordered it to be picked up and I waited about a half hour went there and it still wasn’t ready and it’s a bit expensive but it’s good quality for the price. Also byob!

Only have been here once but marked it as a place to go if craving some sushi. Casual, friendly service, quite spacious. Big pro — fresh sushi. We ordered a few rolls(including love roll) and mango chicken(fresh mango used). Everything was really good. We got complimentary seared salmon as a start which was tender, not salty and delicious. I am looking forward to go again.

WOW. This place has been open for 8 months and this was my first visit. The owner was so very attentive. They have a large selection of items that are Vegan. The most incredible and super tasty was the Drunken Noodles. I couldn’t believe how unbelievably delicious it was. And the Coconut Soup was fantastic. Kudos to a great place to dine.

I decided I felt like ordering off their Thai selections. I love Drunken Noodles and have a lot of experience with them so I thought I’d see how they did them. The noodles I got were acceptable, but not exceptional. The noodles were slightly more cooked than I’d like. The dish did not capture the intense beefy and aromatic flavors as well as Drunken Noodles can. I’ve had much better versions. This wasn’t bad. And I’ll be coming back. But for this particular experience I give 3⁄5. Could use a better balance of fats and acids along with deeper aromatics. The portion size was good.

Delicious food, nice ambience, and great service. Green curry with tofu, delicious! Just enough spice and full of flavor. loaded with fresh veggies and tofu. The service was friendly and attentive. I’ll definitely be back and need to try some sushi!

This place was just plain amazing! Hard to find as my gps kept trying to put me in the alley. Sake is on the house and the owner was so pleasant, came and spoke to me after I ate. This is a must go to spot. I will be back next time I am in West Chester no question.

Excellent sushi for not a lot of money at all. The chef/owner does whatever he can to make you feel satisfied. He gave my table a couple different appetizers some kimchi dish, not on the normal menu and a jar of free sake just because he recognized us. The coconut soup(tom kha gai) i got it with chicken was not only picture worthy, but delicious! The place is really great.

Tsunami has become our go-to sushi spot in town. We’ve been there at least five times now, and and have not had a. single. bad. dish. Everything has been great, every time. I’ve been meaning to write a review for a while now, and after another stellar meal last night, I’m finally getting around to it. My two favorite types of Asian cuisine are Japanese and Thai. Love them both. Tsunami does both, and does both very well. Now, there’s not an extensive Thai menu, but IMO, it’s just right… you’ve got your curries(which are very good), and I LOVE the Thai Basil dishes… sooo tasty. Haven’t tried the pad thai yet as its not something I order very often, though I’m sure it’s also a winner. It’s awesome having the option of enjoying a couple of rolls and also splitting a thai dish… no need to have to choose between one cuisine or the other! But lets get to the main attraction here — the sushi here is great! The owner, Ming, carefully selects his fish for freshness and to pick the best types for his dishes. I’ve had the pleasure of speaking with him a few times, and it’s always a nice conversation. His special rolls are awesome, we’ve had some really unique flavor combinations that hit the spot every time. There is now a separate menu of special rolls, I think its called Hiro’s Menu or Hiro’s Rolls, and they reflect the flavors and ideas that Ming learned from his grandfather, who I understand was a chef at Nobu in New York. Or something like that. Sometimes details get a little lost in translation. Regardless, everything we’ve tasted has been great! Another aspect of Tsunami that works for us is that Wifey S. and I can enjoy excellent sushi without having to leave the kids at home. Since they’re not sushi connoisseurs yet, they’ll get down with dishes like shrimp tempura or yaki-soba(very good!), or fried rice… there are plenty of menu choices that they enjoy, and we haven’t even tried the hibachi or teriyaki items yet. I can’t finish up without mentioning the service… Amy has been our server every time, and she’s always on point. She’s made some good recommendations, and if you’re wavering on what to order, she’ll steer you in the right direction. She may not always get our jokes, but she’ll come back strong with some of her own! And don’t forget, it’s BYOB, so bring in a bottle of sake or vino and soak in the aquarium ambiance, a la Jeff Tweedy. I didn’t realize this my first time there, so when I ordered some sake, Amy let me know that they didn’t serve alcohol… but then they hooked me up with a little sake on the house. Right on! Listen — next time you’re in the mood for sushi, Thai, or maybe some of each, make sure you give Tsunami a try. I really cannot justify going to a place like Kooma anymore, where I’ll end up paying more for food and service that simply isn’t up to Tsunami’s standards. Follow my advice, thank me later… I’m NOT trying to break your heart…

Returning to college year two with my daughter and she picked Tsunami, a local favorite of hers. WOW, she learned has learned well what EXCELLENT sushi is:-) You walk in and it’s like stepping into a scene from Disney’s «A Little Mermaid». It’s BYOB and the owner will personally go shopping for you if it’s not too busy. Service. EXCELLENT. Price EXCELLENT. Taste EXCELLENT. Atmosphere: EXCELLENT. Soooooooooooooooooo relaxing here. Cleanliness: EXCELLENT. OMG. Started with green salad to share, very nice. Enjoyed a complimentary creation of gently seared salmon and white tuna over kimchi, AWESOME! Mind you, I’ve had authentic kimchi from a Korean family who’s son worked for me. Research that recipe to get my point! Posted a picture of the family and the four rolls we ordered. Three lovely ladies and a grinning big nosed middle aged guy in a blue shirt, that’s us — focus on the sushi! All were amazing, seriously amazing. Everything on the menu was worth ordering. We spoiled ourselves with the special menu… On your left, Angel role; beautiful presentation but beware each role is really a double role. The rest, I forget the order but they are Kiss of fire, Yellow stone, Strawberry fin, and Angel. Absolutely incredible! Most surprising, the bill was $ 60!!! NJ or NY, add $ 20 to that, even in a quaint place. My only complaint is that they’re not close to home.

One hungry girl walks the streets of West Chester for lunch on a weekday. Oddly enough, many places were filled, and many others were bizarrely closed. Happily, the strange set of circumstances led me here to Tsunami. At first I didn’t want to go in, because the sushi roll prices were so steep, but don’t let that deter you as it almost did me – there are values to be had at Tsunami and the food is delicious. I’ve always thought the interior of this place was odd. Even when it was Noodi Thai, I had the overwhelming feeling that I was in a children’s section of the zoo… or the bathroom at my parent’s house. I think it’s supposed to be calming, but really I think it’s more funny than anything else. There’s a net with a plastic crab on it hanging from the ceiling… I mean… I ordered a chicken teriyaki bento box lunch special. It was only $ 10 and had SO many delicious things. Not only were there the standard Chicken, Veggies, Rice, California Roll, and dumplings, but the box also came with soup AND salad. Let me tell you that all items in the box eceeded my expectations. The quality was just top notch. I was particularly impressed with the california roll – normally it’s a pretty bland side, but theirs was so fresh and delicious. Everything stole the show – even the rice served with the chicken was delicately flavored. I can’t bring myself to give this place a full, five stars, because the special rolls are really quite expensive & you can buy your sushi on the cheap elsewhere(or on the expensive at a place with a little more elegance,) but based on the great food I think West Chester has found itself another nice, standard place for Asian cuisine. CONCLUSION: Come here for lunch, but catch your own fish(or plastic crab.) Quality: really really good. fresh and delicious. Price: Good for lunch specials, steep for sushi
