This used to be a nice place with nice staff(especially the lady at the counter). It seems they renovated the place. Now when you enter the first thing you notice is the frowning face of a girl who looks quite unhappy with her sub $ 8 per hour job. The other guy that helps at the counter isn’t helping either with his very dirty kargador-like appearance. Not even a simple«good evening sir! welcome to manila sunset!» when we walked in recently. The place is dirty too with trash all over the floor. For a moment I was tempted to take a picture of the trash I saw and post it here. This place should be shut down and the health inspectors from West Covina should pay them a visit. The staff needs retraining in basic service skills, proper customer courtesy and maintaining proper personal appearance. «Clean As You Go» is a very nice motto to adopt. Just because you hate your job doesn’t mean you should look like shit, don’t give a shit and give customers a bad impression on the actual business.

I am very disappointed in my Pancit Malabon that I bought this past Christmas Eve for my family. The quality of the food was completely horrible. The noodles looked over cooked and it tasted bland. I really think I was sold spoiled food to be honest. I’m very upset. Some of my family members ended up sick the night of Christmas Eve. I really loved this place and am very upset on what happened on Christmas Eve. Please get to the bottom of this. I demand a refund.

Staff is extremely rude. Will talk about you in Tagalog. Service is also very slow. Come here if you don’t mind being laughed at

I used to love this place but for after they replaced their staff their service diminished. Everytime they are on break they are loud and they arent so welcoming. The place is nicer though after the renovation and the food is still decent.

If you like Filipino food this is the place to go but if you’re a big eater, not recommended since usually and most Filipino restaurant serves small portions. The bibingkang galapong is the bomb.

Very good place. Palabok is best. Their 2 item combo is very much worth it. I just had dinuguan and it is delicious here. They have delicious food for decent prices. I actually went to some of the other manila sunset in van nuys and in los angeles since late 80s. Ive always liked their food. Also, i was hapoy i got my order in 5 min. Faster than previous visit

This place it’s terrible. Went yesterday for dinner and they ran out of arroz caldo. So I ordered beef tapa instead. They said they weren’t doing any more frying for the rest of the evening. This was at 7PM, a full hour before they were closing. Don’t waste your time here.

Came here because heard they renovated. I ordered my usual tocino breakfast. The interior is definitely improved but the tocino breakfast has changed. I like it the old way, it doesn’t even look like tocino to be honest. And it used to come with a noodle soup but now they’ve replaced it with sabaw(soup base). Too bad because this was my favorite place to order breakfast anytime of the day. On a brighter note, I tried their bibingka and that was tasty and affordable.

Great renovation! Yet, the quality of their dishes have never faltered! Truly, the best Filipino food in town!!!

They have THEBEST Bibingka and Pancit in the area. Their Bibingka is authentic. Not like the other stores who have very dense gummy cakes.

I usually come here to order their catering dishes for large parties! It’s always a big hit with their pancit malabon! The noodles are always the right tenderness! If you plan on ordering, give at least 24 hours ahead of time and pick up early otherwise your dish will be left in the tray waiting for hours.

Service was so horrible. Our food has been sitting on the counter for almost 5 minutes and we’ve been asking if they could give it to us already and just follow up the rest so the food won’t get cold but they don’t wanna give it because it’s not the full order yet. They’ve been ignoring us. And when the food came the beef steak is so f* cold seems like it just came from refrigerator or something. Their management should do something about it. The crew looks like they never had a training, they don’t know how to have a good customer service. They’re fighting and shouting while there’s alot of customers eating. It was really really bad experience. Nakakahiya lang.

I feel like eating Kare-Kare today. I ordered but they said, there’s no more. Hmmm. They’re known for their pancit Malabon so I ordered. They said, that they don’t have at the moment, and have to wait for a while. Since I have to wait, I decided to pick all my orders altogether at a later time. Also, they ran out of tokwa’t baboy too! Grrr!!! So disappointing! Customer service is bad.

Wow, I haven’t been here in ages! They got a face lift and the place looks fab! The floors and everything was redone. Kudos! I stopped by because my mom told me that the bibingka was good here. And she is correct. They hit the spongy texture with the salty and sweet flavor. I also got the puto bumbong and that was also good. I got my items to go and I didn’t have to wait long at all. Friendly service and the place is very clean. I will definitely be returning to try other things on their menu. After all, my accountant is in the same plaza.

We ordered only 4 items and they missed 2. Service is very slow and after we got the third item, we were told the fourth item was coming ‘soon.’ When it finally arrived, my wife asked if they could reheat her soup and the server said ‘yes.‘ We never saw the soup so we are never coming back here ever again.

We used this place recently to order some large amount of palabok, lumpia shangai(small eggrolls), and dinaguan for my dad’s birthday. Food still taste the same. The place is newly renovated. The menu is easier to navigate if you’re new here. Clean bathroom. The a/c is a bit better but it can be a bit warm inside. They take card but the parking lot is small and hard to get a space during lunch time.

They did redo their restaurant but the payment system is horrible. We waited 15 minutes to pay because they did not know how to use the system… Also, we called to placed an advance order so we can pick it up promptly. When we arrived 15 min later, the food was not cooked or prepared. After waiting 15 min to pay for our items, we had to wait another 25 min to have them make our 1 entrée meal! Get your training strait people’s!

We have been patronizing Manila Sunset for many years starting with the location in Los Angeles many years ago. The West Covina location is very convenient, and the food is consistent and traditional. Although the interior of the Manila Sunset in West Covina is tired, the food is excellent. I have not had better Pancit Malabon anywhere, and the Lumpia Shanghai is amazing. The only lumpia better than Manila Sunset’s is made by my wife’s aunt who lives in the Philippines. If the owners made some aesthetic improvements, the star rating would certainly increase. They run an old portable air-conditioner, which I understand is cheaper, but it does not keep the place very cool. In addition, the free standing refrigerator in the seating area is not appealing to the eyes. They also have highchairs stacked in the corner, and they do not look very clean. If you can get over the lack of aesthetic and customer comfort issues, you will enjoy the food. You can also take it to go!

It’s hard for me to judge filipino food because my lolo’s cooking was superior to all. I don’t think I’ve ever been to the restaurant(or any other Manila sunset locations), but I’ve had their pancit malabon and bibingka(from this location specifically) — and it’s consistently good all the times I’ve had it. The bibingka is probably the standard in which I judge all other bibingka, which is why instead of the A-OK 3, I gave it that extra star.
