More of a 3.5 Pluses– The beers are good and they play the game on projectors so its like a craft beer sports bar. Its also really spacious. Minuses– They could probably have a lil more beers. Also, i dont know whats up with the food menu… I really wanted a burger but we only got a limited menu, the only stuff they had were like shared plates. The ribs werent bad but you only get 4 and they were pretty pricy. I forget what other thing I got, but it was just ok. Overall, Im pretty optimistic about this place and I think once they work out some kinks they should be better.

I went here when it first opened and it was a fantastic gem in Covina. Loved the food and the beer. I haven’t been here in about two months and came back everything changed. Ambiance was better, but reduction in food and beer. It’s cool it’s a bar not a restaurant. I don’t like, however, that they seem to always be out of a certain beer… anyways the place is great… if your not. well«me». Before it didn’t seem like it mattered much, but when i came in the last time this new waitress said they underwent new management changes. Cool whatever not uncommon right? I went in with my gf ate some pretty good bulgogi fries and had some beers while talking. The waitresses frequently looked right at us and kept walking. When I addressed that my beer was empty and asked for another the girl smiled said«OK» and kept serving the other customers. It took 20 more minutes for her to ask us if everything was OK. It’s not like the place was packed either there were only 3 tables with customers… us being one of three… whatever she’s new right? You have to start somewhere. Then I wanted to order some more beers and same thing happened I kept getting ignored while the other customers got served. I was fed up so I just asked for the check, gave her my card and she comes back saying«you don’t have any money» while looking right at my gf… you bitch what you trying to say? No I don’t have to ask because I know exactly what you just did. It’s not the first time I encountered this bullshit, you see a mixed couple and you lose your shit. I’m not sorry my gf is Chinese and I’m black because love is love homie. If you got issues with a black man dating outside his race or a Chinese woman dating«down» then by all means please go put on some slow jams, light some candles, pour some wine and go gently fuck yourself. I don’t know any machine that says«out of money» but I have worked with machines that say«card declined». where do you come up with the assumption i have no money? I called my bank and they just cleared it up. Erratic spending on my part and I get it I’ve been out of town for months and I’m back and I was out spending money having a good time with my gf all day. So makes sense, happy my bank keeps track of spending patterns I’m not trying to get robbed lol. So little girl, who makes the assumption a BLACK man has no money, i don’t like you. You are scum, as is anyone who is racist. You can deny it but i saw it. In your face of disgust as we held hands, with an undertone of condescension as you spoke to us. I’ll never go back here. I loved this place I really did. Whenever i was in town I would go here, I would give it five stars… but things clearly have changed I hope it’s just her and not the establishment. But I can’t risk that any longer and I’m intolerant such actions.

I went back again yesterday to watch the NBA finals. I took 2 friends of mine and they loved it. A few things changed since my last visit. First are the dart machines in the back which we all loved and spent some time. The menu is also different, this time around I tried the bulgogi fries that are A++ and very tasty! Also got the pork belly sliders, which were OK and my least favorite dish, and the Ribs & margerita Pizza, both were also very tasty. This is currently my fav spot in the area and a must try!

The bar is a great hole in the wall, slightly hidden from view in the rest of the shopping center. They have a great chill vibe with 4 dartboards, a pool table, and a sweet music system. Great gastropub food and an impressive beer list with competitive prices. Jen was a great server, knowledgeable and quick with service. Overall, this place is great for groups and for a relaxing drink at the end of the night. Stop by here and you won’t be disappointed.

Stopped by on 5÷13÷16. Nice local neighborhood bar. The menu is limited, but they are hiring a new chef. All the beers are craft and they have a large variety, including wines. It is a great local pub for West Covina, Walnut, City of Industry and LA Puente. If you want a cool place to hang out and meet new people this is the place. We met the owner and the new staff is very friendly.

This place was fantastic! Loved the food and the atmosphere. A little on the pricey end, but worth it with the quality and quantity they provide. However, the waitress, Sally, could’ve been a bit more happier or acted like she enjoyed working there. Also, she was the only waitress there handling a decent amount of customers. She needs more help. Other than that, this place is AWESOME!!! Delicious!!! I highly recommend this place. Look at this food and tell me you wouldn’t eat this yourself.

Food/Beer = A+ Prices = A– Atmosphere = A– Hours = A Waitress/Service = A++ This review is so long that I’d be surprised if anyone reads it. But honestly it’s well worth raving about as I believe I just found my new ‘home away from home.‘ Food/Pricing: I’m the type of person that likes to try any and EVERY new place. I’m always looking for something different and this place certainly offers something different. Sure, they have typical bar food — pizza, hamburgers, sandwiches, wings etc. BUT… it’s not so typical. I myself had their bulgogi burger($ 12). It was amazing! They put a special sauce on it, with an egg and kim chee. The fries that come with the burger are delicious! Every time I have fries at OTHER places, I find myself drowning them with salt, and ranch or ketchup and throwing away half of them. That was not the case with these fries. They salt them to perfection and this place goes the extra mile and flavors them with rosemary which is INSANELY wonderful on potato. I also had a side of brussels sprouts($ 7) which they flavor and season specially to perfection too. I Sampled a watermelon beer and a ‘game of thrones(?)’ beer and went with the GoT beer($ 7). I would probably confuse everyone if I reviewed this specific beer, but I’m gonna do it anyway. My taste buds had a love/hate relationship with it. Like a disgusted orgasm with every sip(lol yes I just went there. What does it mean? I myself don’t even know haha). I feel like the pricing is somewhat average, but considering the taste of food being way above average, I actually felt like I ripped them off after paying =) Waitress: A lot of places need to re-evaluate who they hire. Tim(the owner who I had the pleasure of briefly meeting), appears to have done a great job, based off the girl who waited on me tonight. She(Sally) was on point in every aspect — personality, service, friendliness, recommendations etc. and to top it off; she’s very attractive.(Unfortunately I’m past my prime haha, but any young buck reading this better get in there and sweep her off her feet. She definitely deserves it.) ALL the girls there seemed to be in high spirits and quick to cater. Atmosphere/Hours: Since I’m somewhat of a night owl, I’m always needing a place to eat at late hours. Selection isn’t always that great. Fortunately this place is open until midnight weekdays and 1am(I think Fri/Sat). Its a very roomy bar/restaurant with some nice tv’s on all sides. It’s a nice ‘seat yourself’ type of set up which is always convenient. And they have a pool table… FREE! Always fun to have a few beers and shoot some pool with friends(was missing friends this time around, but will certainly be back with some). Thank you Tim for opening a bombtastic tavern!

I love that there’s finally a bar around the area with excellent beer! Dream come true! :) they change their menu of beers pretty regularly so there’s always something new to try. Also they usually do a pretty good pour, so that makes me pretty happy haha. However, the only con is the food… it’s really underwhelming and extremely greasy. Tried their fries; soggy with grease, tacos; dripping with grease, and burger was just okay. I tried their steak & parmesan truffle fries and all were just mehhhh.

Came here to this new gastropub today during lunch, this is their first week open for lunch and they actually close the kitchen between 2:30 to 5PM. Corner Tavern is located in the plaza on Nogales and La Puente with the CVS and East West Supermarket. It’s nice to have a gastropub in the area. It’s a large location with plenty of beers on tap and a good selection of foods like shareable appetizers, burgers, sandwiches and tacos. They are only 2 months old so the friendly waitress Sally informed me that their food and beers are rotating for the time being. I ordered their pork belly tacos($ 11), garlic parmesan fries and a Ommegang Rosetta. I was the only one here around 2:30PM. The tacos were good, it came with 3 on the tiny tortillas and since I went right as they were closing the kitchen after lunch, I believe I got the last bits of the pork belly since it didn’t look like the other pictures, it was seasoned with a nice sweet gaze(possibly hoisin sauce) but I do wish the size of the tacos were large as thats about $ 3.67 for a tiny taco, it’s a bit pricey in my book, the order of garlic Parmesan fries were nice and large, some minced garlic, shaved Parmesan and some parsley on top, and the Ommegang Rosetta was nice as it was a brown beer and sour and wasn’t too overwhelming, very refreshing. I’ll probably come back for a beer and appetizers, and I’d like to try their burgers and sandwiches also like to come at night. All in all, good stuff, decent food and good beer selection!

Corner Tavern is tough to find but worth it once you get here. Unlike other bars this one has a mix of sports, dive, and craft beer specialty. You also get a unique blend of food. Their appetizers like the bacon covered dates is a good start. Even Though their lighting could use a little bit more and I had to use my iPhone light to read their menu, the bulgogi burger makes up for it. Lots of parking in and around the corner. CVS pharm is across and there is a high school across the street. Please try the Corner Tavern because they are new, unique, and they have a very friendly business. Thanks for the read!

This place is pretty quiet on the weeknights, but the service is still very good. They carry an interesting selection of drinks and a very appealing menu. I have only tried a few of the finger foods such as fried calamari and fries. Both were pretty good. Beware of tiny water cups if you’re chronically thirsty. I feel bad asking for water when it’s really slow and they keep busy near the bar. Overall, a very nice little addition to the Walnut and Wesco-Nogalas area.

I gave this place 3 stars because«Meh.» is the experience I had. It’s located in a strip mall across a high school. To break it down, we went on a busy night. Seemed like a younger crowd. The server came up to us and greeted herself. She was polite but I could tell she was in a hurry. Which is completely normal since there were so many people coming in and out of the place. Heck, its a bar. So she got our order but THEN after that… every time we flagged her down she looked pissed and annoyed. Her response when we’d ask for things was. verbatim–«I GUESS». okay… i get it… you’re busy and probably stressed out but still… that doesn’t mean your Customer Service skills go out the window. She was weird. Anyways. So food and drinks were good. FOOD especially. I had the bulgogi burger. I was still thinking about it the next morning. Beer — average selection. Atmosphere — Like I said, young crowd. Maybe early 20’s. They don’t ask for ID when entering they just ask when you’re ordering alcohol. For music they played Top 40’s. There is a pool table and you can request for some card games. Not bad. A fight broke out right outside halfway through the night. The glass windows allowed everyone inside to watch what was going on. So it was o-kay. Just a weird vibe that night with the sloppy service and fights breaking out with no security or not even a doorman.

In town for business, I found the corner tavern a few miles away from my hotel thanks to Unilocal!A nice, spacious gastropub that I may have never found since it’s kind of hidden behind another building at a small strip mall. In the background they were playing some jazz and R&B and off to the side was a pool table while one wall had tv being projected on it. Once inside, I sat at the bar looking at the menu written on the wall behind it. If I wasn’t taking out, I would’ve loved to have tried some of the brews they had on tap, maybe next time. For dinner, I ordered the grilled cheese with pork belly and a side of steak loaded fries. Both were a bit cold and soggy by the time I got back to my hotel 15 minutes later, but the taste was definitely there. Definitely great concepts, but probably a 1000x better if I had opted to stay at eat at the restaurant. The real winner of the day, the reason I will definitely be coming back here the next time is the dessert! On suggestion from the bartender, I ordered the churro p’zookie which is basically a light and airy churro cookie topped with vanilla ice cream, chocolate chips, and homemade Nutella sauce. This thing was the best thing I had the entire week long trip…

I am updating my review though I still haven’t managed to try this place(and probably never will, now that Jin Teahouse has opened up across the parking lot). I wanted to update this with 2 pieces of new info but can’t revise my number yet. First, someone gave me heat over my «BS» review. I am sorry(and by that I mean I am not sorry), but I think it is perfectly legitimate to rate a restaurant based on the fact that smoking goes on in it, when California bans smoking in public buildings and I have chronic lung problems due to having undergone aggressive cancer treatment. Also, others who have lung disease or allergies to smoke or just plain don’t want to breathe it in when they’re eating and drinking might want this information, too, so don’t try to censor me. =P Second, the owner contacted me with promises of asking vapers to stop vaping inside, which was nice of them, but in my(and my husband’s) experience, smokers can be extremely confrontational, and vapers are no exception(and I would bet good money the person who flamed me did so because they are a vaper or smoker). If the owner were to try to enforce this rule while legislation on vaping is still up in the air, I don’t see this turning out well for anyone. Better to wait to see if the ruling that vaping on planes is the same as smoking on planes(and therefore just as illegal) will extend to public areas on land. I don’t begrudge anyone smoking where smoking is allowed(e.g., casinos, where I wear a mask to protect my lungs and try to keep my time spent there to a minimum). If they came out with some kind of «spacesuit» inside which people could smoke freely and not put the smoke out for others to involuntarily breathe, I would support their right to smoke anywhere(as long as reasonable fire precautions were taken). But smoking in restaurants is illegal here and I shouldn’t have to subject myself to second-hand smoke when my right to *not* subject myself to second-hand smoke is protected. It isn’t as though if someone lit up a crack pipe inside a restaurant that I should have to grin and bear *that*, either.

A bar in Walnut, whaaaaat?! I was hoping for this place to be super packed and filled with people, but instead, it was just a bunch of people sitting down in tables that are spaced out randomly. We had dinner before so just came for the drinks. The thought of this place having craft beers excited us, but once again, pretty disappointed in the selection. I ended up getting the Stone Pataskala Red X IPA which I enjoyed, very generous pour for the price. They have deals on the weekdays like taco tuesday and such, but nothing too eye-catching. Food looks pretty overpriced, but smelled good so maybe I’ll try it sometime. There’s a pool table and a few tvs so I can see that it’s a cool place to chill and hang out with friends. There was people playing jenga and card games, music was pretty random throughout the night but it’s pretty loud so hard to talk. With such a big space, you’d think the bar would be big, but it’s just a tiny corner of the place. There’s so much potential in this place, and I hope that the owners realize this. Might be back to hang out whenever I’m in the area, and hopefully I see some changes!

Review warning, this is a long a*s detailed review about our experience. 3 stars solely for the food, it was pretty freakin’ good. A serious fan of the food but my next visit can either make it or break it depending on how it goes, customer service wise. This review is based entirely on my seriously awkward customer based experience which explains the –2 stars. Here’s the break down… My bf and I came in on a Saturday night after wanting to try this super local low-key place that popped up on our Unilocal feeds. «Whaaat? a cute little spot, with good beer, hip environment, and tasty looking food? Sign me up!» So we get there, and for a Saturday it’s not that busy, sweet. They were playing the game from their projector and it was huge — definitely a place I would come back to watch the game. But we opted to sit at the bar to check out all the craft beers they have bottled and on tap. Also we do enjoy some craft beer talk and love a good bartender. Yatta yata yatta, all was good, instantly greeted by Sally or Anna? Didn’t really catch the name sorry! Got our beers and ordered our food. Still smooth sailing, they also have a TV over the bar top so yay wouldn’t miss the huge game being projected behind us… But wait some college game was on, so I kindly asked the bartender if she could change it. Mind you, our food was just dropped off so I was asking for the necessary utensils and yatta yatta things you typically ask your server to bring you when it’s not already there. So I already felt a little bad for pestering her for things(I was in the restaurant industry for 3 years, was a server so I get it, it can be annoying but wait it’s your job), she changed the channel for us no problem, but a TV recording pop up was in the screen for a good 2 minutes before I flagged her down again and said, «So sorry I know I keep asking for a lot but can you please exit that screen» given it took up 60% of the screen… She at this point decided to make this super awkward sarcastic joke«Oh yeah sure, you know I’m only working for tip here, really I work for tip, so I don’t mind doing it, but I do work for tip», what in the eff was that? LOL My bf and I looked at each other confused, was she joking? Was she hinting at the idea that maybe we wouldn’t tip her for her services? Or maybe we looked cheap, like we wouldn’t tip? Whatever the case it was pretty awkward and a huge NONO. Mind you I was a server, and no matter the type of service we receive my bf and I always tip at least 15%… SIDEBAR(skip this entire paragraph to get back to review) here’s a quick tangent as to why even if you receive the shittiest service you should still tip. Although servers get paid minimum wage and a lot of people think tipping is a courtesy, servers wages actually get taxed higher. Depending on the amount of sales they make in a night, so if they had a table that had a $ 100 check and got tipped $ 0, 10% of $ 100 would still be deducted from their check, so essentially they served you(and maybe they did suck) but they end up paying for serving you. Hope that clarified some stuff! Anyways, back to the awkwardness. Basically after that comment, the atmosphere was ruined, now I was more attentive to my surroundings more than I would have liked to be and boy oh boy. I overheard a convo our bartender had with a new guy working there explaining why people sitting at table shouldn’t keep ordering drinks from the bar top, and what do you know her entire focus was on the wrong things, rather than addressing the real issues why it’s not aloud it was TIP driven advice. Anyways, I’m going on and on, but even the couple next to us realized the awkward service and offered them advice. Good thing though, they actually took the advice. In the end, this place is seriously capable of being the next big thing and can stick around for a while. This review wasn’t to hurt them, but really to express where they NEED to improve. I enjoyed the food, I want to come back, so if you guys do read this(which you should) please work on the customer service, would hate to see this place not succeed because of it. Also, try and learn more about the different types of beer rather than the names. Hops, bitters, flavor profiles, everything… It’s a must if you’re gonna advertise craft beers as your thing. Hope this was helpful, and OH the Loaded Steak Fries are a must! Haha

Alright. So it’s a new place and close to home so I thought we check it out. The food was on point. The chef knows his way around the menu and Yoli is a great hostess. Loved the small tavern feel. We will be back and if you are in the area make sure you swing by and have the bacon on bacon burger with a few beers! Prost.
