Great food, but after so many years, you have to update the menu. But, none the less, we always enjoy it here… And you will too!

The food and service are excellent. I’ve eaten here 4 – 5 times over the past year or so. Each time has been the same consistently excellent experience.

My go-to restaurant for a great meal every single time. They have 2 bars to choose from. The first one is formal and the second one is tucked away by itself with great views of the Delaware River. You can watch the planes land at the Philadelphia airport from just about any spot. There is outdoor seating for over 100 people. Ask for Brenda as she is by far the best server they have! We ordered the cheese-steak spring rolls and the Calamari for appetizers. For dinner it was the Petit Filet Mignon and the Pesto-Encrusted Salmon. Both were top notch! They do have a happy hour menu that is worth going to. You may need your readers for the menu if you are of a certain age! This place is always extremely clean and classy.

March 29, 2016 I and my girlfriend went to River Winds for the first time Tuesday… We have heard about it from many of our friends, but never headed down that way. Were we surprised how beautiful the restaurant is. It offers a beautiful view of the Delaware River and the Philadelphia airport right from our table. We had John as our waiter along with his trainee. He was a delight to work with. He knew everything about everything when it comes to the restaurant and the menu. He was sooooo helpful. The food was absolutely fantastic and the prices were very reasonable considering how upscale the restaurant is. We started off our meal with their own«French Onion Soup.» The best French Onion Soup we have ever tasted. I had their 10oz Western Cheeseburger… MMMMM Gooood. Kathy had chicken with angel hair pasta. We didn’t have dessert since we were soooo full from the lunch. We are looking forward to adding«River Winds» to our list of places to frequent often. Also, I want to send Kudos to «John the manager.» I knew him from the Coastline and Adelphia. He is one great guy and a great asset, I am sure, to River Winds. Gordon P. Lief 609−560−8200

My husband and I decided to go to riverwinds for Valentine’s Day weekend. It was on our list of places to go to and enjoy. I set a reservation a week ago and was excited, despite the somewhat«eh» reviews. Upon arriving, we were greeted by a «out of sorts» hostess. I said I made a reservation, thinking I will get prime seating that I asked for, but that was not the case, I received a Rose(a kind gesture) and was led to the back room for a table of 2, for all that, I should have just showed up. The first table we sat at was very very low, our knees were hitting the top. My husband ended up having us moved to a set facing the wall, and not the river, despite being told every angle, we will see the river. My husband ordered a vodka Collins. A simple drink, and it was made completely wrong, lime juice, club soda and vodka, wrong. He was disappointed after that, and didn’t order another drink. The bread and salad we ordered was average at best as well. I ordered the Cajun incrusted salmon, my husband, piete filet. His meat was good, and that’s all, the potatoes that were with the dish, was bottom of the pot incrusted, hard and bland. My meal was not good in the slightest. The salmon was dried out, the rice bland and cold, the spinach, over cooked. The only good thing about the night was the water and our waitress Jena D, she was quick, attentive and very sweet. When I told her about my discomfort, she was quick to get the manager upon my request, kind and continually apologized. Such a sweet girl. They comped our meal, we only paid $ 35.00, and gave Jena D her well deserved tip. We will unfortunately not be returning.

Great drinks. Good food. Awesome location! I love the view of Philly! we’ve had great service every time we’ve been there. Definitely pricey. It’s more of a special occasion place as opposed to a weekly outing.

First thing is first… this place has absolutely astonishing views of the Delaware River. I came here on Father’s day. For the outrageous prices, I expected my meal to be outstanding. I ordered chicken marsala. It was the grossest thing I’ve ever tasted! I was not pleased with my meal in the least bit. My family stated that their meals were just«ok» as well. For the buck, I wanted BANG! I would be willing to try just one more time to give a chance for them to redeem themselves.

Went here and the place was empty. Sat at the bar which has a great view and very nice, friend had chocolate pretzel martini which was crazy good, sat had the lumb crab and pasta. It was very good, loads of crab in it. We also had the chicken Marsella which was very good. Service was great. They even gave us free mugs lol. I would definitely go back.

Have to say I love it here. Never had a bad meal. From appetizers thru desserts, all are delish! Love sitting at the bar overlooking the Delaware sipping on a cocktail. Have been here for drinks, dinners and events and never had a bad experience. Would definitely recommend Riverwinds!

We had thanksgiving dinner here, the food was good — not great. When it came to dessert, we didn’t get what we wanted — apparently they were out of pumpkin pie. Atmosphere is nice, a view of the river is very pleasing. Service was below satisfying. Our waitress was welcoming at first, but seemed to have an attitude. As we were leaving, there was no valet available to retrieve our car, we had to get it ourselves. This place is nice w/a nice view, but there’s nothing here to rave about anything else.

This restaurant came highly recommended from a friend. The food was pretty good as were the cocktails. It depends on what you prefer for ambiance but this type of estuarine is not really my preference. It was very loud and very busy. Maybe this is a testament to how much people like it. If you want a quiet low key place to take a date, then maybe pass. If you want a very high energy and loud environment, then maybe this would suit you.

Stopped here for lunch on a Friday while in the area. They have an enormous wine list but not much off the beaten path regarding beer. The food was delicious. I got the Shoreline Salad. It was a spring mix topped with filet mignon, roasted red peppers, and blue cheese. Holy crap — amazing! If that wasn’t awesome enough, the waiter asked if I wanted to add crab for additional charge. Hell yeah, sir! The crab pieces were HUGE. The charge was kind of huge as well but it was justified. My fiancé ordered the Parmesan Crusted Chicken. He liked it but it was served with a blush(vodka) sauce. He wasn’t crazy about the sauce but ate it all regardless. I can’t speak about desserts because we didn’t order any — I was stuffed after my salad. The server was very personable and attentive. The view of the Delaware River and Philadelphia were an added bonus. It was a very relaxing time!

SERVICE — 1, FOOD — 3 — Will give it one more try. We stopped in for dinner tonight and overall, we had a great experience. Riverwinds is immense — huge bar, outdoor patio and several dining rooms. The river and Philly view as nice as described by others and so a great ambiance. SERVICE — 1 We were promptly seated and at first our waitress was attentive and on point in getting the drink orders, appetizers and the entrée orders. After the entrees were delivered; she disappeared for the majority of the evening only to appear once midway past the entrée to ask if we needed any drink refills. A diet coke was requested and it never appeared. The waitress reappeared after we had finished our entrees and were quietly talking for about 10 – 15 minutes. When she was informed that the ‘diet coke would no longer be necessary’, she mumbled an apology and then informed us that it had gotten busy. So the service went from a 5 to a 0. We then preemptively asked her for coffee and after she cleared the table and brought coffee she offered the dessert tray. The end of the night was also spent waiting for her to return for the check. In fact, two of us leisurely walked through the restaurant, bar and patio area and then had the valet retrieve our car before she arrived to pick up the check. FOOD — 3 We ordered two platters of clams on the half shell and the cheesesteak spring rolls which were delicious. Also very good was the French Onion Soup and the Honey-Walnut Brie Strawberry Salad. For entrees, we ordered the Herb-Dijon Rack of Lamb, the Grilled Angus Beef Ribeye and the Strip Steak. All of the meats were cooked perfectly and ran the gamut from rare(lamb), medium-rare(ribeye) to medium-well(strip steak). The demi-glaze poured over the lamb obscured any flavor of the herb-Dijon flavor. The thick sauce demi-glaze was the same as the demi-glacé served with the strip steak which was the same as the port demi-glaze over the ribeye. The differences in spelling and description were not discernable across the three entrees. I don’t know if it was all just the Gorgonzola demi-glaze listed with the steaks; but it was not a traditional, smooth rich brown sauce made by combining equal parts of veal stock and espagnole sauce. The coarse texture was much closer to a rustic mole along the lines of that which is made in Puebla, Oaxaca or Tlaxcala and the taste was odd. The sauce made two of our entrees less successful but I realize that it’s a matter of personal taste. The potatoes and broccoli rabe were superb. We had coffee and I ordered an apple pie à la mode which was tasty but way over microwaved. Better to serve it cold than blistering hot and soggy, I think — but again, a matter of personal taste. If the service had remained consistent, then it would be easy to overlook the minor issues with the food but when one has ample time to ponder the shortcomings; they do get a bit magnified. I would definitely try Riverwinds again to see if we experienced an off-night but on second try; any similar missteps would be considered par for the course and that would be a shame.

My husband and I recently dined here to celebrate our six years together. We moved here last year and we frequent the park often. We decided to give the restaurant a try and we were very pleased. We both had an alcoholic beverage– I got a sweet tea. I thought it was kind of pricey at $ 8.99 and it was served in a martini glass. I don’t know much about specialty drinks but I assumed it would’ve been served in a different type of glass. My husband ordered the Victory Hop Devil– kind of disappointed that was there only craft beer selection but still happy they had at least one. Very impressed with our waitresses pouring skills of the beer. She poured it for him while holding the glass on her serving plate. We normally don’t do appetizers much but we saw the cheese steak egg rolls and our eyes lit up. And holy cow– they were AMAZING. Perfect. Not too crispy but not too soft. Not greasy at all .The perfect amount of steak and cheese. So heavenly! We ordered off of their house special menu– it was $ 19.99/ea and included ice cream. I ordered the 6 oz filet mignon with mashed potatoes and asparagus. My husband ordered the crab cake with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The steak was ordered at medium and was properly cooked! I enjoyed everything in my dish. The steak and asparagus were delicious. The mashed potatoes were OK– I’m a big lover of mashed potatoes so I am hard to please. They were a bit lumpy for my taste and had a bit too much salt for my liking– but they were still very good. My husband enjoyed his meal as well– he said everything was cooked well and tasted delicious. The ice cream was a nice little thing for dessert. Nothing fancy or anything– but not bad. I know sometimes restaurants serve you half iced over ice cream which is nasty– but there’s was not like that. The view is great there. I know some people commented saying you can’t see anything but the 95 bridge to the airport and barges. Well yes… its the Delaware River not the ocean or another fancy river. All I’m saying is think about the location you’re at before you go making comments about the bad view. There’s a great view there if you look for it. Our waitress was training but she was very nice and answered any questions we had. No issues with the timing of the serving or anything. Will go back. Would like to try their lunch. Overall bill for two was $ 70 without tip. We got two entreesm an appetizer, and two alcoholic beverages.

I was looking forward to going to the Riverwinds restaurant in West Deptford. The location is lovely it is right on the Delaware river. However, the only thing to look at is cargo ships the bridge and some of the city which is north. The building is cute. There is ample parking to. We entered into a large reception area. My friend and I sat at the bar and had some ice water all while we’re waiting for the third person of the party to arrive. The bar faces the water and again has ample windows to let the sun in. However, it was a rainy, cloudy day which is normal in New Jersey so there was nothing but darkness. We were seated as soon as our third person arrived. We all ordered onion soup in a crock which was absolutely delicious. Then we ordered the fillet mignon steak sandwich with mushrooms and onions on a roll. The waiter advised us to eat it as an open faced sandwich. After a couple bites, my friend said this is an odd sandwich. She was right it seemed like it was ground or something. The meat was absolutely tender and melt in your mouth. However, there just was something missing from that sandwich I don’t know if it was the seasoning or not enough meat to go with the roll. The french fries that came with the sandwich were freezing cold so my friend asked if she could possibly get some more french fries that were warm for the table. The waiter was very accommodating and bought three more servings of french fries to us. So, I give the onion soup and A+ and actually the sandwich a D. We decided to have dessert and the tray was brought to us. There was a huge selection of desserts and they were not made in house but whoever did supply the restaurant made amazing desserts I chose the chocolate mousse cheesecake which did not taste like cheesecake at all but was very rich and creamy. I do have to say that was delicious. Dessert gets a C. I did decide to have a glass of wine and it was my favorite Cupcake Riesling. I never turn that down. I originally anticipated that this restaurant was going to be a lot nicer however, I was a little disappointed and will not be returning

Riverwinds has a terrific outdoor patio that overlooks the Delaware River with the Girard Point and George C. Platt Memorial bridges in the Philly skyline. We like this place for afternoon/early evenings drinks, appetizers and sandwiches(on the outdoor patio). We have found that the dinner entrées are boring. The menu seems stagnant, hasn’t changed much over the years. They seem to rest on one’s laurels and rely on the repeat business of the country club brethren. Some food items that we have had luck with: Steamed Little Neck Clams, Oysters on the Half Shell, Mussels & Chorizo, Strawberry & Spinach salad(w/addition of goat cheese) and The Barge Kobe Beef burger(good steak fries) Service can be hit-or-miss. The pricing is reasonable. The dining area and bathrooms are very clean.

Where to have a nice«Welcome Back» meal in returning to Philadelphia? Hey why not Riverwinds with its awesome view of the Delaware River and the city … and it’s fun atmosphere on a summer night. So Riverwinds it was. Outside in the cove by Riverwinds people were swimming, boating, and kayaking. On the beach by the river, a few dudes were fishing, a lot of people were hanging around. And then the restaurant itself was crowded from their spectacular bar area to the dining rooms … but luckily we had a reservation.
Riverwinds is not known as a gourmet restaurant but my food was totally excellent on this evening. The garden salad was fresh with a light balsamic vinaigrette dressing. The baked walnut & honey-crusted goat cheese with strawberries and red beets was the most popular dish at the table. Everyone wanted to taste it! Main course of grilled swordfish with asparagus and French fries was extremely tasty. I loved how crispy the asparagus spears were. Edys ice cream sufficed for dessert. And a great local beer — a Victory Double IPA called Dirtwolf perfectly accompanied the meal. Our waitress was awesome! And when you’re finished, you can walk back down to the river and do some people watching and view Philadelphia across the water. What a nice Welcome Home evening!
