We live a mile away and yet I tend to forget about Fire Creek. I’ve been here a few times and every experience was solidly good. Service is consistent and there is outdoor seating during our brief Iowa summer season, along with plenty of indoor tables and booths. It was a nice night so we sat on the patio and it was mostly full while we were there. This time around I got the salmon apple BLT — the salmon was perfectly prepared and the apples, bacon, and other toppings were a great combination of flavor. My wife got the Mediterranean Flatbread, and it was a great blast of flavors — she couldn’t quite finish it, so I got to eat the rest the next day for lunch. It was very good. The wine selection was decent — during happy hour wines were $ 2 off. Our waitress was a bit confused about the happy hour pricing, but otherwise our service was very efficient and attentive. I read some comments about pricing here being high, and it may be on the upper end of typical pricing, but so long as the quality remains high I’d say it was fair.

We have been going to Fire Creek for years and have never been dissapointed. I have been there for lunch, dinner, and Fire Creek has even become one of the go-to’s for dinners for work events. The staff is always extremely courteous and does a fantastic job. I am going to outline the 3 services we have been to: Lunch: great options from salad, pasta, burgers, sandwiches, etc. My personal favorites for lunch are their Mesa Chicken Salad, chicken tortilla soup, or fire creek burger. The chicken tortilla soup is amazing! Dinner: I have had many amazing dinners at Fire Creek. The ambiance is relaxed and the service and food is spot on. We always start with the Grilled Portobella Mushroom. ITs a big mushroom cap with sauteed onions, red, green & Yellow peppers, and feta cheese in a balsamic glaze. It is amazing and a must try! My favorites for dinner are: Tenderloin Medallions(the sauce makes the meal) or chicken marsala. My husband is a seafood guy and he loves the Chilean Seabass. My husband and I have also had some date nights here and in the winter request to sit by the fireplace. Its romantic and very relaxing! Events: My office has reserved their party room and also have researved a long table for some dinners where we had VP’s or people in from out of town. The service has always been exceptional and they have always been a breeze to work with! We usually start with a variety of their appetizers which all are amazing. And we always have everyone order off the menu — not buffet, etc. Everything runs very smoothly. Anytime you need either a large table for a group or a room for a bigger group or event Fire Creek would be my first choice. They have never let us down!

I’ve eaten at the best restaurants in the world, including New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Paris, London, and Rome. So when I say«this is one of the best restaurants I’ve experienced», that should be meaningful. The service and food were phenomenal! The flavor of our blackened salmon, Asiago chicken, sides, and desserts were unique and delicious. Even the homemade balsamic dressing on my salad was savory. I’m both surprised and impressed. Give this restaurant a try and submit your review. This I can promise you. I’m coming back to see if my next experience is as good as my first.

What a delightful experience. Wanted to go to a place that I had never been before and what a good choice we made. Our service was excellent. Ordered a cocktail and had time to enjoy it before ordering more. Wanted to sample a wine and that was no issue. Taylor, our server was attentive but not intrusive. The Mosquito bites were an excellent appetizer. I had the rotisserie chicken with Asiago mashed potatoes, my dining partner had the asiago encrusted chicken with the Asiago mashed potatoes. Both were excellent, especially the potatoes. It was nice to find this is locally owned. I will definitely be a repeat customer.

First time trying this place, and so worth it. Sea food dishes came out hot and fresh, was absolutely delicious, and service fantastic. Had server Gus who was very nice and personable. Atmosphere comfortable and quant. Would totally revisit this place for date night with my wife. Best food me and my wife have had in a very long time.

Yummm! They make my all time favorite drink here… Pink Sapphire. It has muddled strawberries and lime and is just WOW! The bartender even gave me his secrets on how he makes my favorite drink too so this shows that the staff are very nice as well. Meals here are huge and delicious. I have had the Asiago crusted chicken and it rocked. I do have one funny story here… the poor waitress we had was reading the specials and pronounced shallots as shall-oots. We all had a giggle at the table because she did it twice while reading the specials. It was cute and so was she but had to share because it was so funny! Very nice place here.

This restaurant is conveniently located for me — extremely convenience. That is simply the only reason I have gone back there several times. Every single time I leave I am disappointed — it is so frustrated. After last night, I will not return anytime soon. The food at Fire Creek is marginal at best — yet their prices are extremely high. A friend and I sat in the bar — she had two glasses of house chardonnay and I had 2 Stoli and tonic talls with a lime. She asked for a bit of fruit to float in her wine — mind you her glass was filled less than half full as well. At the end of the night — her wines were $ 9 each and my tall Stoli Vodka drinks were $ 6. The waiter charged her $ 1.75 for 3 blueberries. WHAT??? Now I’ll talk about our waiter. He barely acknowledged and/or spoke to us the entire night. It was obvious to all the tables he was working with that he was less than interested in being at Fire Creek working. Fire Creek fails miserably in my book — they have one thing that is good and that is a steak salad. Ridiculous prices again. I think I will move on.

I was seated quickly and the server came directly to the table for a drink order and describe the specials. The salad was crisp and fresh the entrée a Cajun ribeye was cooked perfectly it was topped with what was almost a whole order or fried onion rings and the asparagus(an up charge) were again cooked perfectly. I would definitely recommend Fire Creek.

This restaurant is a bit hidden in a strip mall and if you blink you could miss it, but once inside its a great surprise! The venue is nice and welcoming like you’d expect from a steakhouse type setting and the staff was absolutely delightful. Wednesday nights have $ 5 martinis when I visited and the dirty Grey Goose was made to perfection. I ordered a petite filet cooked to medium but it was much closer to well done, which is the only reason my review is a 4 star instead of 5. Seasoning and sides were delicious regardless. I would definitely go back.

I was visiting from out of town, so I stopped in with a couple family members. The atmosphere was really nice; it was a great place to unwind and visit. The food was standard fare and was good, but not anything special. It really did not stand out to me as a place that I would be eager to return to, but then again we only had the lasagna and chicken. Maybe something more unique would have been more memorable.

The ambience is nice here– it’s definitely a refreshing change from the plethora of chain restaurants in West Des Moines. This is definitely a place to go on a date night or to celebrate an achievement or anniversary. I thought the food was mostly overpriced, especially for the pasta dishes. I could tell my noodles had been pre-cooked and sat around for quite some time before being added to my meal– they were really rubbery. For a $ 28 pasta dish, I at least expect them to cook my noodles properly considering how cheap penne noodles are at the grocery store. The sauce had good flavor, but the noodles ruined it. My husband ordered a steak and seemed to enjoy it. If I came back here, I would definitely try one of their fish preparations instead of pasta for my meal. I definitely recommend this restaurant as a great alternative to Cheesecake Factory for the local West Des Moinesians that like the ambience of an upscale, cozy restaurant. The location is a bit odd, tucked into a strip mall behind Walgreens, but it’s definitely worth the trip for locals in the area.

I was surprised to see so many low ratings because I visit here every time I visit Des Moines(about once a month). The staff is so nice and take special care to remember the names of their guests. The Boursin chicken and steak medallions are incredible but the fish is great too! Their bar tender, Eric, is awesome. He is always smiling and making conversation with guests. A real treat!

Located behind Walgreens at the end of a strip mall seemed like a odd location for an upscale ‘grill’. Quotes because the prices do not reflect the word grill IMO. But the food was great. Started with the Mosquito Bites, a lobster/crab wontons with a wonderful spicy Thai chili sauce. Though I wish there had been chunks of seafood inside it did have good flavor. I had the steak salad. And though they ignored my dressing on the side request it was delicious. Steak was perfect, dressing was spicy and excellent. And my mom had the pesto chicken flatbread which she raved about. Said the crust was a soft bread crust which was perfect. However the food wasn’t quite worth the high prices. $ 60 for 2 people for app plus 2 lighter meals. The $ 8 glasses of wine didn’t help(or did they?). May be better for business travelers who don’t care about the expense.

I meet here weekly for a business group. They have a meeting room that accommodates about 40 people in rounds of 6 – 8. They do offer us a limited menu. I enjoy the fish tacos minus the sour cream and flour tortilla. GREAT light lunch once they add tax and tip I’m up to $ 14

My 4-star rating is for the ambience and steak salad. I am NOT a salad person, but this one is amazing with the filet cooked to order, includes these little julienned potatoes(glorified french fries), avocado, and a spicy ranch dressing. I throw in one of their awesome breadsticks for an extra dollar, and my day is made! I frequently order this to-go for lunch… at least once a week! I typically do take-out, but I have eaten in the restaurant a handful of times. I hate to admit that on more than one occasion, I have felt ignored by the staff when I need to be seated or pick up my to-go order. It obviously hasn’t stopped me from going back. I ordered the prime rib, which I was told they are«known for.» Girl… no. Don’t lie. If you are known for this dish, then it is not in the positive sense. It was not the worst thing I’ve ever had, but I would never order it again. Save prime rib for Green Briar and Fleming’s. My mom ordered the chicken picatta. It has the potential to be a wonderful dish because the flavors are all there. But, they quite literally DROWNED it in the lemon butter so it was too much… we practically had to press the pasta in a napkin to absorb all the liquid and the spinach was a goner at that point. Judging by these other reviews, it sounds like someone in the kitchen has a bit of a heavy hand and maybe you should just offer sauces on the side at this point? No need to ruin a perfectly great dish and it’s an easy fix.

My wife and I have made our minds up to avoid all restaurant chains. No PF Changs, Cheesecake Factory, Applebee’s etc. Instead we began searching for local privately owned eateries. We stopped in at Firecreek and immediately loved the décor and atmosphere. A review of the menu while somewhat pricey convinced us that this is the price for a good restaurant that is not a chain. We both ordered the special which was the bone in filet. Big Mistake. The dish took nearly 45 min to serve and was covered with some slimed sauce and onion mixture. YUCHI! My son who had joined us ordered the Seabass and had a similar experience. 3 entrees no drinks and $ 140 with tip. No thanks I will not be back.

Great ambiance! Once you get inside, there are a few stone fireplaces, nice lighting and just a relaxing atmosphere. In addition, the wait staff was very kind and attentive. We went here for a special occasion dinner. I had a wonderful glass of wine(Silver Palm) while my boyfriend had a beer. I selected the Brown Sugar Scallops and he had the Whiskey Honey Chop. Both had great presentation and were delicious! If you are looking for a nice place to eat, this should be on your list!
