This is a great place to stay, especially if you are traveling with little kids. The Residence Inn concept is fantastic & this property is no exception. It appears the rooms & hotel have been recently updated. They have a lovely indoor swimming pool & a descent continental breakfast. Although I wish they would have more fruit! The staff was exceptional during our stay & upgraded our room as well. One perk of having a husband who is a platinum member! Great location in West Des Moines too!

I’ve always been a Marriott hotel fan. This one is decent & staff is very attentive. Clean rooms, comfy bed & the location is convenient, walking distance to Jordan Creek mall. Landscaping in this hotel is beautiful too. I was there spring of 2011. I’d have hot, delicious breakfast in the morning then take a cup of coffee & sit & watch the wild ducks in the pond. Only 4 stars tho bec if you need extra sheets or towels at night, you have to go down & get it from the registration counter. Overall experience, good

On the exterior, this hotel looks nice, with a fantastic location right by the mall, within walking distance to several restaurants and things to do. I had the misfortune of staying here for a little over a week while waiting for a new apartment to be ready. It happened to be in the middle of their renovation, so the hotel was a mess, and the water in the hotel was shut off from 10 – 4 every day. No running water in the sinks, couldn’t flush toilet, couldn’t take a shower. Between the water issue, the construction workers knocking on my door at random hours of the day and the disgusting stink in the hallways, i had never been so excited to leave somewhere in my life! And did I mention the building fire alarm went off while I was halfway through blow-drying my hair and I had to run outside with half wet, half dry hair and wait 20 mins for the fire dept to put out a fire in someone else’s hotel room? One positive thing about this hotel is that it is pet friendly… I do appreciate all pet friendly hotels.

Residence Inn — I’ve stayed at 4 different ones. They are all mostly the same. I expected a little more from this one based on it’s location(which earned it an extra star). Was dissapointed at check in. I specifically chose a more expensive rate when making the reservation so that I wouldn’t get a disability room, but upon check in she said that was all they had. So… that sucks. it was late and I wasn’t going to go looking elsewhere. We asked if we could move to a king room that I requested once one was available and seemed to get attitude about it and no promises. You know. I think I just get a untasty vibe about this place. It makes me feel like I’m in a nursing home. I think its the decoration and creepy hallways — coupled with nasty food. Don’t get pumped on the cocktail hour — it’s stale wine and miller light. I feel like Marriott could do good work by just adding some healthier/fresher options to their breakfast and social hour food. It wouldn’t be more expensive, but would take someone with serious can opening skills to find another job elsewhere. One nice thing about our room is that it has tall ceilings. it makes it feel like an actual bedroom and not a hotel room, but it’s outdated and full of crazy bright flickerling lights due to the impaired status. I’ve spent a lot of nights at Marriotts and am a gold member… just expected I’d get a little more than what I paid for. 180 a night?!

I really enjoyed my stay at the Residence Inn at Jordan creek in West Des Moines. I was in town for business and selected this hotel for its proximity to Trader Joe’s Grocery Store and the mall. You can easily walk from the hotel to the mall, movie theater, and many restaurants. I’ve been a Marriott Elite status member for years so I knew exactly what to expect: clean and spacious accommodations, a hearty hot breakfast, and complimentary dinner and cocktail hour in the evening. Marriott Residence Inn is a great way to travel for business. I was pleasantly surprised that my room was actually a two bedroom two bathroom suite with a full kitchen and fireplace. I believe I got upgraded due to the number of nights I’ve been on the road already this year. My room was exceptionally clean, the bed was comfortable, and the shower had strong water pressure and good temperature. I used both the fitness center and pool and hot tub and found them to be well maintained and comfortable. All and all it was a restful and productive stay. I did have a little difficulty finding the location using Apple maps so if you’re having trouble just get directions to the mall and then use your eyeballs to look around for the Residence Inn sign.

I was on a business trip and this was a perfect, superbly comfortable place to rest my head at night. It’s a block from the bars if you want/need to grab a drink. The front desk was very kind and helpful. Everything is clean, sharp, and modern. Well worth the marginal difference in price to another hotel.

Typical Residence Inn — no better or worse than usual. Only significant problem was a horrible woman(could not call her a lady!) who would drag her brood of brats down to happy hour and then let them scream and yell the whole time they were there. The Manager did not have the balls to address the issue so most of the guests would get their refreshments or drinks and retire back to their rooms to escape the noise. NEVER have I stayed in a Marriott property where the Manager was so useless and inept and would let one person make dozens of others miserable. I certainly hope Marriott replaces this manager and gets someone in there who can actually RUN the hotel as benefits a Mariott. HORRIDSTAY !!! Would NOT recommend this hotel.

This is a very nice hotel. Stayed in a nice two room suite. Room was very clean. The customer service was decent, breakfast was decent. What I liked most about this hotel was the grounds. It is located in the same parking lot as the Mall and I was able to take my dog on a nice, long walk while listening to music from the mall in the morning and watching the ducks on the small pond. I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel did a great job with a large group of people! Very comfortable accommodations, great hot breakfast — for free! Not just rolls and coffee — eggs, bacon, sausage, fresh waffles, hot oatmeal, fresh fruit… it was great!

Fav place to stay when in Des Moines Ginormous bed — comfy w/awesome pillows Full kitchen — not that I like to cook but I do like somewhere to store & heat up leftovers… and having plates & utensils is most bonus Shower has great water pressure This particular room doesn’t have internet access which is a big pain — not being able to log in to check work stuff — hence the 1 star deduction (Blackberry couldn’t get web either so know it was room & not me) Other rooms I’ve had here in the past haven’t had this problem & the WiFi is free which is good Easy to get to & *right* beside THEMALL which makes it too convenient to get that extra layer of wool you didn’t plan for, when leaving SF; or get a good book when there’s nothing good on tv & I can’t get onto the internet Yay, I’m a fan!
