Decided to give this place a try. We had never heard of it before but it looked like it got decent reviews. The atmosphere is cramped and their restaurant furniture appears run-down. The server was nice, though seemed flustered and apologized for being busy with only 2 or 3 other tables in the restaurant with people. She served our drinks and took our menus and then walked away without taking our order. We had to let her know we wanted to order or else she might have forgotten us! We both got the gyro, mine with fries, and my wife’s with salad. The gyro was delicious with no shortage of taziki sauce like a lot of other places. The French fries were really well done. For dessert, we got baklava and ice cream. It was served warm and cocolate sauce drizzled on the ice cream. The presentation was not that of a 5 star restaurant, but it sure tastes good! Overall, not bad for the price. It was $ 30 for 2 dinner, s, dessert, and tip! Definitely a good spot for a weeknight meal, no frills.

One of those last minute lunch searches that paid off big time! This little restaurant has a great atmosphere. My wife said she kept expecting someone to come out and start cleaning everything with Windex(Big Fat Greek Wedding reference). I had one of the best Gyros ever made and my wife had the chicken Rockefeller. The chicken dish was excellent. The chicken was amazingly tender, the philo(sp?) was so delicate and the olives added a nice balance. The thing that pushed this review to 5 stars is Yani and his friends. Great conversation with really good people. We will be back!

This restaurant has its own character and the food is handmade. We had the chicken Marsala and eggplant Parmesan. Both were delicious. Bring your own wine or beer.

Maybe the best Gyro in West Des Moines. Not so much on Pork Tenderloin Sandwich.

This. Place. Is. Awful. We visited on a Wednesday evening recently and when we arrived were the first ones there. The wait staff and the cooks were literally yelling things back and forth to each other. My husband and son ordered and received their food in a reasonable amount of time. The waitress did not even acknowledge that my food was missing. About ten minutes later, I interrupted her smoke break to ask where my food was. She apologized to me and then started shouting at the cook to get my food out, which they had apparently forgotten about. My family was completely done eating by the time my food got out. It was very obvious that it had been microwaved. When it finally cooled down enough for me to take a bite, it was inedible and disgusting. I believe it was the Mediterranean Chicken. Nothing about it appeared to be Mediterranean, just plain awful. In addition to the food fiasco, our drinks were never refilled, dishes sat for a half hour without being cleared, small requests(like salad dressing on the side) were ignored. This place has moved around a lot. No wonder! They won’t be able to stay open with terrible food and service like this.

I give this restaurant four stars only because I believe in the food. I should clarify, I believe in their gyro. I’ve been to most every Greek restaurant in town not to mention every Greek restaurant in my 2 previous cities I’ve lived in and this is probably the best gyro I have ever had. I do like the idea of bring your own beverage but I think the tackiest part of the entire process are the cans of soda they bring out to serve. Whenever I go to a Greek restaurant I always get there flaming cheese. for this, the best place to have a flaming cheese in Des Moines is Olympic flame. I got the flaming cheese at the olive branch and the show was not even close to being less than spectacular. the crispy cheese sat in a pool of liquor until I rescued it to let it dry on my plate. I really hope this place succeeds because I could see myself going there more often then the Olympic flame just because it is so close to me. There are growing pains with every new restaurant. I really hope the service improves. I hope the small things like the soda cans go away, I hope the décor on the inside improves dramatically, and I hope the menu better reflects Greek and Mediterranean food and improves to do your dishes that are perfected then many dishes that are mediocre.

Decided to try this new local restaurant for lunch. This location has had several different restaurants/owners over the last several years, and if the food doesn’t improve, this one will join that list. Ordered the daily lunch special, parmesan chicken. The chicken had not been tenderized(much), the pasta was clearly out-of-the-box, and the sauce was lackluster. On the positive side, the service was very good, and the small dining area has been nicely decorated. My suggestion to the owner would be to pare the menu down to a few signature dishes, and do them very well. Because this restaurant is so close to home, I will give it another opportunity and will update this review.

Small place run by Yanni who has had several other places. Still new location has a few issues to work through . Service was very informal. Food was a bit slow a/c only 1 person in kitchen. Greek and Italian specialties were very tasty and prices reasonable. No liquor but BYBO. Will improve as staff matures and they get more help. We will go back

My husband and I love this place. The best cavatelli in town. Atmosphere is very relaxed and comfortable. Similar to having dinner with our family. Ingredients are fresh and the result is always fantastic.

Delicious, different, and with a great atmosphere the olive branch is a must stop if you’re in the area.

With few Greek options in Des Moines it is nice to see a little variety added to the western burbs. If you are wanting a polished, cookie cutter franchise you should move on. This restaurant provides a great atmosphere with a surprisingly rustic feel that is shoehorned into a strip mall. It definitely has the relaxed feel of an authentic Greek restaurant but with a few American twists on the menu to keep the less adventurous happy. From Gyros and Souvlaki to Shrimp Santorini this slice of Olympus would meet even Zeus’ needs.
