What a fantastic local restaurant! I have absolutely no idea if this is authentic Mexican food, but it is DELICIOUS Mexican food, and very reasonably priced. We brought our 2 year old to Los Adobes, which they worked very well with. The food came out pretty quickly, and the portion size was moderate to large. We ordered the steak special, and the house special for two. Both were very, very unique and tasty, however, from seeing the things the other people there ordered I would not order them again. The other dishes looked very tantalizing and were half the price(we essentially ordered the two most expensive things on the menu. Eek! our mistake!) I would recommend against the horchata, as it was very much too sweet for me. Overall the food was excellent though, the special for two was seared perfectly with excellent chicken, steak, cactus, and onions, the guacamole, though sparingly applied was excellent. All around a very good experience. We look forward to going again!

Two and a half stars if I could go halfsies Pros —– 1-The prices are generally pretty fair 2-The décor is colorful and full of cool stuff to look at 3-The menu is pretty big 4-The server was pleasant 5-The free chips and salsas were very good, The red salsa packs a sneaky punch 6-My shrimp tacos were absolutely terrific! Cons —— 1-Parking can be challenging 2-Its very small –maybe 5 booths 3-There was a kid lying down on one bench watching a loud video 4-My tongue taco was nothing to talk about 5-My tamale was a mess, some of the corn meal was so rock hard, I could have used a chisel to scrape it off the husk. The meat inside was barely worth the effort, kind of bland. 6-The chicken quesadilla was a disappointment –bland and flavorless Will I be back? Maybe if I’m in the neighborhood and want a shrimp taco for a few bucks.

Ehh. this was not a great experience. Got a bunch of tacos to go, extremely bland and wayyy overpriced for what you are getting. Taste isn’t great and they are tiny as well? I think maybe because its only place in the area is why people even come here? It doesn’t taste that authentic, just very plain. I don’t think I’ll be back, not worth it. There are better options in downtown and it’s worth the extra drive. If you want something in the area, just get Bartaco to go. It may not be authentic Mexican, but still tastes great and is a much better deal then this place, which doesn’t taste authentic anyway.

The tacos were decent, though a bit overpriced and required too much of a wait. I went during lunchtime and was expecting to be in and out in time to make an appointment. When my food finally arrived I was up against the wire and had to eat quick in order to make my next engagement. I wish I could give a better review, but the anxiety caused by this experience brings cannot justify an endorsement.

CHORIZOOOoo!!! Is my new war cry whenever I go to Los Adobes. But whatever you try, you won’t be disappointed. The spicy, crumbly sausage Chorizo here is absolutely heavenly! Decadent, firm, slightly crumbly texture, and a wonderful spiced-chili-paprika kick. Needless to say, Chorizo tacos are one of my favs. Their Torta sammiches are also mind-blowingly tasty. Surprisingly well constructed and packed with flavor. The Cubano Torta comes with chorizo! Egg! and thin sliced, crunchy, breaded beef. Definitely try the other available meats on the menu, they are all worth it; Barbacoa(tender, pulled and satisfying), Carnitas(perfectly spiced, chopped and fried morsels of heaven), and their Fish tacos are highly worthy in my opinion. I’m also a fan of their Lengua; oooo meaty, earthy Lengua. We are absolutely becoming regulars here. And you probably will too

ordered take out. beef burrito — not so keen on as they put lettuce, tomato and sour cream in it and that is not authentic mexican. Will ask for none of that next time. Beef tacos were great with thinly sliced beef, slight cooked white onion and cilantro. They had only corn soup of the soups that day so we will be back to try some other items

Los Adobes is such a cute, teeny tiny restaurant! The food is authentic, the prices are good, and the service is awesome. This is some of my favorite Mexican food in the area. I never would have thought to try this tiny place, but it has great Unilocal reviews! The servers are always super friendly. I usually have the same 1 – 2 people when I’m there. Never a bad experience. Because the restaurant is so small, you can always count on them being attentive. The prices are very fair. Potions are large and you also get chips and salsa before the meal. Last time I went for lunch, we spent around $ 45 for all four of us. Very reasonable. My only complaints: parking can be tough and seating is sparse during dinner or weekend lunch hours. Overall — don’t let those two things stop you from trying Los Adobes!

This is one of our favorite places for a quick meal. The service is attentive and cheerful. We usually get tacos, guacamole or a chimichanga which was consumed repeatedly when I was coping through a stressful job. The TVs are typically blaring with an Mexican soap or soccer. This is a great place to pick up a quick bite, practice your Spanish and have some yummy eats.

My fave Mexican restaurant in the greater Hartford area. Affordable, authentic goodness. Small, family operated establishment with quick friendly service. Love this place!

Just had the Quesadillas and a side of guacamole for lunch. They use authentic cream(not sour cream) and the guacamole is no just smashed avocadoes with a little tomato, but it has onions, cilantro and a bit of salt for flavor. good deal.

Very small place! It feels like a very authentic. During my visit I got a chimichanga and three tacos. The tacos were amazing!!! The chimi not so much! I would definitely go back for the tacos and maybe try another dish. Most definitely a takeout spot in my opinion.

As a mexican, for me this is the closest you will get to Mexican food in the Hartford area. Recommendation: get the molcajete! It is the best. I gave it 4 and not 5 stars because they do have some dishes that aren’t very good. Friendly staff, but with all places when they get busy it can be a wait.

I have been debating whether I would have the surprise Mexican fare of a lifetime or expose myself to hepatitis going here for quite some time, and I really have to say that I was SO incredibly impressed. THISISMEXICANFOOD. Real Mexican food is NOT covered in a sh*t ton of melted cheese and salsa. Real guacamole is NOT3 mashed up avocados with a few pieces of tomato and onion thrown in! It’s fresh tomato, onion, cilantro and lime with a little avocado to bind it all together. If you want to experience what real Mexican is then come here! Not to mention how incredibly friendly and attentive the service is. This is not a flashy place but if you want classic Mexican that tastes like Abuela made it? Check this place out.

Probably the best Mexican food I’ve had in the Hartford area. If you like authentic Mexican food(eg, street tacos and tamales and tortas etc), this place is for you. I think the people who have left low reviews are people whose idea of Mexican food is Chipotle or Moe’s. Los Adobes is the REALDEAL, and it is excellent. Highly recommend.

A strong four stars? Really? As of this writing, that’s the rating of this hole in the wall Mexican place on park road in West Hartford. I ordered a chicken taco, spiced pork taco and steak quesadilla. The spiced pork taco was ok, but the rest tasted bland. I expect Mexican food to be vibrant in taste, color and texture and my meal wasn’t. Did I order the wrong things? Service was great and very friendly. I paid $ 16 for my meal which included free tortilla chips. I also got an authentic Mexican soda. I’d come back a second time and maybe order something different. Three stars with room to improve.

I have visited 5 times now, depending on the time of day and the day of the week the vibe can be very different. I have been there a couple times when the TV is blasting cartoons and kids are watching TV. We visited when some older gents were hanging out and talking with the staff and I have visited when we were the only people in the place. Basically, it is like eating in someone’s kitchen. The food and presentation is simple. The food is fine, very decent Mexican fare. I think that the variability of ambiance is not a plus(for me). That said, if I had a couple small kids, maybe I would think that it is great that I can bring my children in and have them feel at home. Worth checking out, and the folks running the place are really nice. Stop by.

I really like this place! It is a small restaurant with only about 5 tables, but I have never had to wait for service. The waiter was extremely friendly and nice. It was obvious that he was trying his hardest to ensure that we were having a good experience while dining at the restaurant. I ordered beef enchiladas with mole sauce. It was very tasty and also a good value for the amount of food. The other ladies dining with me had some difficulty with their food — one of them ordered fajitas, which most of us have come to expect on a sizzling plate of deliciousness. These were nothing like that! My only other criticism was that this place is HOT. It felt like I was sitting on the surface of the sun — it was cooler outside! All in all, I will definitely be back and I do enjoy it here — just bring a personal fan!

Visited Los Adobes with a party of 4 and generally had a good experience. The chips, salsa, and guacamole were a lovely start to the meal. Yellow corn tortilla chips, a mild green, and a spicy red salsa are all complimentary while the chunky and delicious guacamole is $ 7. For our mains we ordered a chicken quesadilla, green chicken enchiladas, a chicken taco, 2 tacos al pastor, and a fish taco, along with sides of rice and beans. There were no complaints from those who ordered the enchiladas or quesadilla. Really hearty, large portions that tasted wonderful. The chicken taco and tacos al pastor were quite dry and didn’t have much flavor. The fish taco was very tasty. The rice tasted fine, but was nothing special. The refried beans sprinkled with cheese were very tasty and went well with the tacos. We didn’t get dessert but all had a margarita. They were also $ 7 and were mixed well. We all opted for regular on the rocks with salt. I’d definitely go back but wouldn’t order individual tacos again. They have many meat and seafood dishes I’d like to try in the future.

Rating if it were in California: 3. Rating in Connecticut: 4 or 5. I had fish tacos and carne asada tacos. They were tasty and much needed after a soccer game. Having lived in California and been to Mexico I can say I’ve had my fair share of mind blowing tacos in LA and SF. This was: decent. This is as close as I’m going to get to good Mexican food living in Wst Hartford so I’ll take it. Bonus points for TVs playing soccer at lunch.

This is like Mike Tyson versus Glass Joe in Punch Out for Nintendo. Michael Jordan versus a high school basketball player. King Kong versus a human civilian. Yale and Harvard Students versus a community college student. That’s the comparison I make when it comes to the two Mexican restaurants on Park Road. And that is this place, Los Adobes versus it’s amateur yet unseasoned contender(lol. Pun intended)…Taqueria. As a matter of fact, I believe Los Adobes may need to step in the ring with Monte Alban from Farmington Avenue, Hartford. They seem to possibly be a good competition. Enough blabbing, let’s get it on… *ding ding* This may be a hole in the wall spot, but it makes me feel like I’m somewhat in Mexico. You can tell a restaurant is authentic when Mexicans eat there. This place had two TVs both featuring Spanish shows. The menus were takeout menus and they had the actual drinks as a display for the drink selections on the counter. Our server was a 14 year old boy. He wasn’t the best at service but I could tell he was trying. I had to ask him for a refill, sides, and other stuff multiple times. But all in all I didn’t care, I was just enjoying the comida(Spanish for«food»). About the food… I ordered the tacos. They were $ 2.25 each. You can choose from beef, pork, steak, spicy beef, seasoned pork, shrimp, fish and chicken. I had the chicken, spicy beef and regular beef tacos. I had a side of their homemade hot sauce. One sauce was green, the other was red. It was no where close to tabasco’s level, but it was fresh and tasty. My girl had the taco salad. I tell you that thing was huge!!! It was at least 4″ inches deep, and 6″ inches wide of fried taco shell. In it had lettuce, chicken, cheese, refried beans, cilantro, tomato, and rice. She said she liked it. I say let’s go back!
