Ambience is not bad, nothing out of the ordinary for an Indian restaurant, but food and service are top notch. We didn’t have to wait too long for anything, glasses were constantly filled, and didn’t get the check pushed on us. The food, I’ve had better but it’s the best in the Hartford area now that Royal Masala has become a lounge. We had the malai kofta(delicious), shahi paneer(tasted too Americanized), pudina paratha, garlic naan(both piping hot) and salted lassi(just right). Needless to say we’ll be back!

Takeout really seems to be king when it comes to Taste of India and this is our go-to spot for Indian! As others have said, the atmosphere of the actual restaurant isn’t amazing, it’s decent, but the food is great. We usually get chicken or lamb dishes. The Saag and Korma are absolutely delicious. The Saag is a buttery delicious spinach mixture and he korma is made with coconut milk, nuts and spices. Both come with large chunks of tender white meat chicken. The lamb is also very good and tender(it makes me a little sad inside to eat it, I will admit it). The dishes are served with a generous portion of rice. We always add and order of the naan, which is warm and soft! The take out orders are made quickly and we never have much of a wait. The staff is really sweet and nice. Free delivery in west Hartford! I would highly recommend them if you are in the mood for Indian!

With a party of 4, we came in last week for a low-key dinner. Service was friendly, but perhaps a bit eager on asking us multiple times if we were ready to order. Outside of that, the staff was very polite. We started with the veggie samosas and pakora. The samosas were a bit too doughy and fried for my liking but the pakora was easy to pick at and easy to share. For dinner, we all shared the chicken tikki masala, hiken makhani, malai kofta and lamb saag. For the most part, everything was tasty and flavorful. However meat was skimpy and disproportionate to the amount of curry sauce or veggies. Overall the bill wasn’t too pricey for 4 people, but I think next time we would rather try the lunch buffet. FYI Lunch buffet available from 1130am-3pm Mon thru Fri: $ 9.95 and Sat — Sun: $ 11.95

Huge selection of decent Indian food right in West Hartford. They have just about anything you could want to order, but it won’t be the most memorable meal. I went here for dinner with a few friends who hadn’t tried Indian food in the area yet. My favorite part about this spot is that they have a very extensive menu, so you’ll definitely find at least a handful of things that you want to try. We ordered just about all of my favorite dishes. Appetizers were vegetable samosas and vegetable pakora to start. Entrees included malai kofta, chicken tikka masala, chicken makhani, and lamb saag. We also ordered the garlic naan, which unfortunately doesn’t come with the meals. I also tried their mango lassi, since I always try it at any Indian restaurant I visit. The samosas were alright, but definitely a little disappointing and only came two to an order. We could’ve done without them. The vegetable pakora was better as an appetizer to share since there were 6 or 7 pieces. The malai kofta and chicken makhani had the best flavors in my opinion. The chicken tikka masala was decent and the lamb saag had a nice spicy flare to it. My biggest issue was that the dishes were more sauce then actual substance. The malai kofta only had 5 dumplings in the dish, the tikka masala didn’t have much chicken in it, and the lamb saag was mostly just spinach. The chicken makhani was probably the most substantial. And each dish was about $ 13-$ 14 for a small bowl. The mango lassi was tasty, but too thin compared to most lassi drinks I’ve had. Overall, the bill wasn’t too outrageous and ended up being about $ 80 for 4 people. If you want to get your Indian food fix, it’s definitely a decent spot that’s close by. I will probably return to check out their lunch buffet.

My girlfriend and I ordered takeout two nights ago and I don’t think either of us could have been more satisfied. We ordered a side of Garlic Naan, the Chicken Tikka Masala, and the Chicken Korma. The Naan was delightfully fluffy and had just the right amount of garlic, and the main courses were both so, so good. Our chicken was perfectly tender and the sauces were incredibly flavorful, thick, and neither suffered from an over abundance of spices. The rice was also cooked to perfection and had just the right amount of moisture to it. The only reason I didn’t give the restaurant the full five stars was due to the meat to rice ratio. You get a heaping mass of rice but not enough meat to go along with it. Overall, it was well worth the $ 36 we paid. The food was delectable and we were both still plenty full after finishing our meals.

I recently enjoyed their lunch buffet with my family. The food was very authentic, well presented, and a wide selection of dishes(none of which I could/can pronounce). Many were vegetarian and gluten free. Staff hovered nearby ensuring the buffet line remained supplied and fresh. The tables were also well attended, providing water, beverages, removing dishes, and answering question(in my case repeating the names of dishes). The buffet was very reasonably priced.

Got a take out from this place on North Indian dishes. Not bad except for a little extra salt on everything.

I have eaten here in the past and had good food and okay service, but tonight ruined all of that. I was there with several friends and we ordered drinks which came in a reasonable time. Then we had two orders of somosas, four pieces total. Three of them were warm, the fourth was frozen inside. The restaurant was busy, so we chose to overlook it. After 15 minutes, we finally were able to flag down a waiter to order our entrees. Then the wait began. Twenty, thirty, forty minutes finally stretched to an hour(this is four entrees – nothing special). Tables began to clear. We still waited. No one came to the table to explain or apologize or even acknowledge that anything was wrong. We tried getting a waiter’s attention – nothing. Finally, we left money on the table for the drinks and left. No food, no apologies, no one even acknowledged our leaving. That is the last visit, and hopefully this review will keep anyone from going there to have the same horrible experience. NEVERAGAIN.

Disappointing. I am writing this review while still seated at the restaurant for dinner. I am surprised that it has been rated with 4 stars and elaborate reviews in the past. That brought me to this place. I am no connoisseur but being an Indian know very well what good Indian food tastes like. I had ordered paneer pakora and chef’s special karahi paneer. Paneer pakora was bland nothing like it was described on their menu. Moreover, the cheese in it was stale and tight. Cottage cheese is meant to be succulent. The karahi paneer is made in a gravy, what I received was paneer cubes(same as the paneer pakora) with tomatoes and raw onions in a watery gravy. No surprises here, this was bland too. The two stars are for the plain parantha that accompanied my food. This bread was good and warm. The $ 10 lunch buffet must be good but the dinner is not.

The food is ok… but you might have to wait an hour for your order when you dine in… I think Bombay Olive service is much better and you can get your food in a reasonable amount of time.

The person picking up the phone should be definitely trained on how to answer the phone and learn to listen and respect the customer rather than laughing. It’s unfortunate that some people still do not get the fact that minimum basic 101 customer service is essential and should be more respectable toward women

I was at the Windsor location, and had the lunch buffet there. There buffet didn’t have a large selection but each dish was very well made. Will come back again… and often!

Server kept laughing and mocking us because we ordered extra hot spices. The staff are not professional or welcoming towards women.

Coming in for a buffet for lunch is always tough to judge. But overall, I enjoyed this place a bunch and got a lot of good food for the $ 10. Water was refilled promptly and there were plenty of choices for the buffet. I particularly liked a noodle dish which didn’t skimp on the«hot» factor. But the always good Chicken Tikka Masala and wings were good as well. Two soup choices, salad, bread. Really, everything you could want for a reasonable price. Pretty pretty good.

I’ve been here many times over the years, and the food never disappoints. Dinner has many option, and the restaurant also has a buffet for lunch.

Usually I don’t write reviews, but this was that bad, that I was forced to write. I am never ordering from this place again. Order Chicken jalferezai, and it had more cauliflower than chicken in it. The paneer tikka masala was tasteless. It was not spicy nor sweet, nor salty. I am not sure what sauce they used. Also, I ordered tandoori chicken — and the chicken was hard and burnt. Just didn’t like any of the dishes I ordered. The overall quality of food was horrible.

Ordered chicken tikka masala, veggie samosa. It was crispy and hot. The chips came with 3 dipping sauces — love the variety. HOWEVER! Got charged $ 6 for extra tikka masala sauce — so expensive!!! this place is delicious but the price makes me stay away. Will be looking for new indian spots around time to offset the cost of this place! 4 stars for deliciousness though!!!

Great Indian food! The veggie samosas are huge and delicious! We had delivery(via grubhub) the other night and it came right on schedule. One word of caution, the«hot» is really spicy and we all love spice! Will definitely order again, as we need to add some new stuff to our delivery repertoire.

Great Indian cuisine and they deliver! JACKPOT! The lamb saag is incredible — tender meat, super flavor in the sauce. I’m also a big fan of the Peshawari naan — light, fluffy, and just the right amount of sweet. So glad I found this place. I’m just kicking myself that I didn’t know about it sooner!

Indian food!!! I haven’t even written a paragraph and I’m already drooling and dreaming of the tikka masala. I’m not joking but this was my favorite dish out of the thali(spelling?) which was an assortment of indian dishes in a small bite portion. My boyfriend and I have now been here a couple of times both sitting down and take out. Both times we were here it was around 6pm and the place was packed. I can only imagine this place gets busier as the night goes on. The staff are quick and very helpful. As for food, obviously get the chicken tikka masala which the sauce is lip smacking good. We also tried the lamb briyani which was a flavorful rice dish with large chunks of lamb. It also came with a side of this yogurt sauce you could drizzle on top to cool down your mouth. Very tasty! As mentioned earlier we had the indian dish platter which had some vegetarian dishes, lentils, tikka masala and a lamb dish. Great way to try a few different items if you haven’t had indian food before. For takeout we had the lamb vindaloo which was super spicy but irresistible. We also had some bread filled with potatoes and garlic naan. Yum!!! I can’t wait to try their champagne brunch on Saturday and Sunday which appears to have a few dishes of Indian Chinese fusion.
