Not bad for bubble tea. My teammates and I really enjoy coming here after a long day of practice and getting a nice refreshing tea with boba my favorites include the vanilla, honey or coffee tea with the pearls. Although not the best that I’ve ever had, it does its job and hits the spot. I’m not used to the pearls being sweetened but it’s nice that they are because the tea isn’t sweet. You can get it sweetened but the real sweetness comes from the boba.

Have been here twice and enjoyed it both times. The first time, I got the passion fruit flavored fruit tea with boba. I wasn’t a huge fan of the boba– it didn’t have enough flavor for me– but I really enjoyed the tea itself. On my most recent visit, I got the lychee de coco milk tea, no boba. I’m not normally a fan of milk teas, but this was delicious, and it has little pieces of lychee at the bottom. Would definitely recommend, and I will be back the next time I’m in the area! I just wish the boba were more flavorful.

I think the owner did a huge favor for the Hartford county when he decided to open up a bubble tea place here. Tea break is like the Kung Fu Tea of CT and is just about the best bubble tea that you will find in Connecticut. Like another reviewer said before, it is rare to find a good bubble tea place in CT that does not have that powdery after taste. That is why you come here to Tea Break!
The owner and younger man working with him are sweethearts and if you come often enough, you really become one of their regulars and it catches you in the feels like…“hey Uncle! I’m here again can I get my usual please!” Haha not that I do that but that’s the homey atmosphere I get from it.

I’ve been here more than enough and I thought back that it really deserves 5 stars. The owner is very nice to me and he always know what I love to order: Yakult Green Tea or Oolong Milk tea. Even though they got rid of the buy 10 drinks get 1 free drink card, I still come. Being in West Hartford and especially just barely outside the center, the rent must be ridiculously high. So, I will say the price is reasonable. It’s also the only legit bubble tea shop in the area. You most likely can get bubble tea from Asian restaurants, but they are not as good and may not give enough bubble. I’ve also tried the Green Tea House bubble tea, but I would say Tea Break beats it. The Green Tea House just have a variety of teas they can use not flavors.
If you’ve never been to Tea Break, you’re missing out big time!

Amazing, fantastic, and all things delectable. If I could build a house adjacent to this place, I would. Been to numerous Chinatowns (and other places as well) and still haven’t found bubble tea as good and with as much variety as you can get at Tea Break.

this is one of the few milktea places in the area. milktea places are rare on the east coast. but for what it is, it’s pretty good. too bad they had to take some stuff off the menu because there wasn’t high demand for them. tea with salty cream never disappoints.

One of the best bubble tea places in the Hartford area! Having had some really good bubble tea from Boston and New York (and some pretty bad ones too), we were decently surprised that there was such a good bubble tea place in the Hartford area. It ranked pretty well up there with some of the better places from Boston/​NY and as you can imagine, it’s one of the best in the Hartford area.
There’s not much atmosphere to this place though; it’s more of a take-​out drink type of place. That said, the drinks are good enough to have us coming back each time. My usual is the milk tea with grass jelly and they do it pretty well. I even brought friends over a few times.

Definitely my favorite place to get bubble tea in Hartford area. My go to is milk tea with grass jelly and boba. The nice thing about it is that it’s not too sweet. I definitely want to try the Happy Family now after reading about it. This definitely compares favorably to my favorite bubble tea place in Boston’s Chinatown. Small drink 3.50/large 4.25 for the most part. Great spot!

I really like this place. We always come here for one thing — their delicious Thai Tea with tapioca. It definitely shines over the other drinks. We’ve been to many tapioca places here/​NY/​TX and this is by far the best Thai Tea we’ve had at a boba place. Even their boba has excellent consistency, perfectly chewy/​fresh. Their prices are average, and so are their other drinks. They guys are very nice as well. I do wish they were open later! 8pm? I know its CT but come on… Also wish they had more fruity drinks. But one thing’s for certain; will always come back for their perfectly made Thai Tea!

It was okay. I’ve had better. I ordered the mango milk tea with tapioca and my husband had the lychee de coco. There was an unexpected ginger-​like aftertaste that we both noticed. I would have also liked mine to be milkier. Maybe we will go back and try it again but maybe not because it wasn’t very cheap either to want to risk it.

Best bubble tea place in Connecticut. The happy family does not disappoint — it reminds me of a Filipino halo halo dessert with the red beans, tapioca, jellies, lychee, etc. Absolute heaven. Friendly staff. Highly recommended. Metered street marking available.

Owner is a really nice guy. We weren’t able to make it before closing, but called ahead and he waited for us. I know. «it’s business». nonetheless, it was a great gesture from him.
Got the taro milk tea, slightly sweetened. Definitely on par with most places in NYC and made exactly the way I like.
Bonus: Great place to study, with a spacious setup and BUBBLE TEA.

Finally, a real bubble tea in Connecticut… and at a reasonable price.
Pros: Authentic Taiwanese Bubble Tea taste, fair price ($ 3.50 small, $ 4.50 large– varies depending on drink), major variety menu, friendly staff, table and single seating available, ice cream on menu (including ice cream bubble tea)
Cons: No membership or stamp card offered to me, no wifi (unless you’re an xfinity customer), cash only under $ 10 according to a sign but they took my card without question on a single order before

Yum! A hidden gem in west hartford, the most authentic bubble tea around these parts of Connecticut! The owner is very knowledgeable about the drinks and will help customize your drink to the way you like it. I have tried the honey milk tea and the fresh milk taro.
The honey milk tea is very soothing to your throat and delightfully sweet. The fresh milk series is a shredded (blended) ice drink, so is perfect for hot summer days. However the taste of the taro is not as strong as the regular version since it is made of fresh taro.
Overall I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for authentic bubble tea! Try the different rounds, I love the pudding! I do recommend less sugar since the bubbles are already sweet themselves.

Finally a decent spot to get bubble tea in CT! I have tried both the mango and passion fruit teas as well as the regular milk tea. The fruit teas have a strong tea flavor and are not overly sweet from the fruit syrups. The regular milk tea is just ok. They use powder and it was a little watered down. However, the tapioca pearls are really good! They have a good consistency and are also slightly sweetened. I typically get lychee jelly with the fruit teas since it’s more refreshing.
You can also customize the sugar and ice levels too, which is nice. Definitely try this place out if you’re craving bubble tea!

I’d seen Tea Break before, but was a little nervous to try bubble tea. After loving it elsewhere I finally decided it was time to stop in, and was not disappointed!
The staff were incredibly friendly. I took my time looking at the menu, and they were attentive without being overwhelming or annoying. They were also very quick to serve my order and greeted me immediately upon entrance.
The store itself is very clean. It still appears brand new, after being open for some time, but almost to the point of coldness (it has a sterile feeling). I’d love to see more tables in the store itself for people to sit at so it might feel more welcoming, but it just seems a bit large and empty with only a couple tables.
The tea was delicious! I stuck to my usual order (mango fruit tea) and it was just the right level of sweetness. You do end up paying a bit of a high price (around $ 4 for a basic tea), but that’s to be expected for the area. I look forward to going back, as I now work nearby, and will definitely pick up a tea on the hot days coming up!

I’m so excited to find this place! My friend told me that this was his favorite bubble tea place in the area, so it had been on my list of places to try for a while. I stopped by a few days ago and sure enough, they make a great bubble tea! I got a small taro pearl milk tea, and it was wonderful. The tea wasn’t too strong, wasn’t too sweet, and had perfectly cooked boba. It’s definitely one of the best bubble teas I’ve had in my lifetime. The small really filled me up (much more so than my regular iced chai from Starbucks does), and at $ 4.20 for a small with boba, it’s not much more expensive than Starbucks too.
As another reviewer mentioned, I did notice they used a taro powder instead of making it fresh, but it didn’t have the gross artificial flavor that most bubble teas from mixes have. They do make fresh flavored milk teas that cost a little more, but I’m perfectly content to pay for the regular. In fact, I’m already planning my next trip to try the honey milk tea.
I was the only person in line at the time (a weekday afternoon), so my drink was ready in only a couple of minutes. The café itself was clean, and the guy behind the counter was nice. Parking in Blue Back Square is always dicey, but this place is located on a side street before you hit the thick of Blue Back, so you can easily park a block or two away in the neighborhood and get away with not having to fill a meter. I wish they had some outdoor seating, but the place still looks a bit new, so hopefully in time, they’ll add to the place.

They’re lucky that the tea is delicious, and that the facilities are nice; because everything else is unbearable.
They’ve misunderstood and/​or made errors carrying out my orders more than three times now. Some days, they’ll open an hour and a half later than they say they will. Just recently, I came in at noon, and they were unable to make any tea because they had no running water. There’s always a new problem.
The $ 10 credit/​debit card minimum is also an annoying inconvenience.

My boyfriend loves bubble tea (don’t tell him I told you). After a disappointing one at a Vietnamese restaurant on Park Rd., I surprised him by taking him here about a month ago after reading the reviews. We liked it so much we talk about coming just about every week!
I’m not usually a fan of bubble tea as I find many places to make it super sweet and taste of powder or artificial ingredients, but I’ve had three bubble teas from here and they’ve all been excellent. On various visits I’ve had the taro milk tea with tapioca pearls, matcha with red bean, and my favorite, the QQ Happy Family which includes grass jelly, lychee, red beans and I think mango… so good.
The menu is large with many options. The space is clean and welcoming. There are a couple of tables if you decide to stay and enjoy your milk tea, but each time I’ve been there I’ve gotten the vibe that it’s a grab-​and-​go type of place. There’s free wi-​fi I believe. Staff are nice. Place is legit!

I’ve worked my way through most of their fruit teas, and you honestly can’t go wrong. My tip would be to ask if there’s anything seasonal that’s not listed on the menu, because last time I was there I had two extra flavors to choose from. I would also recommend that you get at least half-​sugar, unless you really enjoy cavity-​sweet drinks; I usually just opt for a little bit of sweetness.
I’ve checked with the manager, and he said they don’t use any high fructose corn syrup in their drinks. I love that everything here is natural and that some of the teas even have pieces of fruit in them. The tapioca pearls are always cooked to perfection and slightly sweet.
Prices are reasonable considering it’s West Hartford and that getting any drink from a coffee shop would be comparably priced.
The two shortcomings are that they no longer take credit cards (no debit either), and they could use more seating space. They have space for at least two more tables, if they used it wisely. I would love to see this little place have more of a coffee shop feel.

This is the best shop that specifically sells bubble tea. (My H and I order bubble tea at nearly every Asian establishment.) The shop is located conveniently in West Hartford Center with a parking lot close by (and parking is free if you’re in and out in 30 mins or less) — a great perk! The shop is very nicely decorated with neat décor that reminds me of Ikea. It’s got plenty of space, too, with a bar-​like area that faces the street and a sit down area with a number of tables.
Upon arriving (my H’s fourth time (since he works in Bishop’s Corner and can stop by easier than I can) and my first time), we were promptly greeted by two kind gentlemen behind the counter. I quickly ordered since I have a good grasp of what kind of bubble teas I like. My H, on the other hand, mulls over like no other. That gave the older gentleman and I some time to talk… about durian! Haha! He called me «very Asian.» Funny! ;)
Although this shop doesn’t offer my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE bubble tea, Hong Kong Milk Tea (I’m Cantonese… Stereotypical I know!), this is now my go-​to spot for quick and yummy bubble tea. This spot seems Taiwanese in flavor… I’ll ask the owner next time!
