Webster Bank

A few weeks ago I decided to give Webster Bank a shot when I realized that my paycheck was issued thru them and figured they could cash it without an account. I walk inside around 4:50 with a feeling of relief after seeing that there was no line.
Unfortunately, all 5 of the tellers took 15 minutes to finally ask how they could help me. I understand that a business has a big list of things to do right before closing, but disagree that a customer should ever need to wait as long as I did so they could check off the majority of their lists. After the long wait time, I was told that my license wasn’t enough ID because it was issued in California. Ok, no big deal. They let me go home and get another form (I live a block away from this branch). Once I get back I go through yet another wait only to be told that the check was post dated until the next day. I understand that it’s not their fault that they couldn’t cash it, but I really feel that if I wasn’t a young adult and maybe was dressed professionally and older I would have been helped 10 minutes sooner each time. Maybe I’m wrong. Whether I am or not, I will not be opening an account anytime soon or heading back.

This is where I do most of my person to person banking. Parking is sometimes tight, but the lines zip along and everyone is friendly. There is always a security guard here too. That really doesn’t phase me though. I carry a laser gun.

I opened a checking account in 2008 and was promised a $ 25 refund by the bank personnel if I used my debit card 3 times as a credit cards i.e. not using the pin number but with my signature. I did that and the refund never come. I called the branch manager repeatedly and she keeps giving me new date (s) for the fund to be released. I wrote to the CEO and it is like throwing a rock into the ocean, never heard from again. At this tragic time of bailing out banks, I wonder if Webster Bank deserves such kindness while their are operating in such unethical and illegal practice. My suggestion — find a more ethical bank.
