Ginny, the social worker, is a fantastic person. Nate, Archie and Judy are great RN’s Ms. Green is a great CNA However, if you are over six feet tall and use a wheelchair you will find the room too small.

The majority of this facility is NOT assisted living, this is skilled nursing. Two beds per room, the quarters are shared. West Hartford Rehab is now under new management, the inside is much more clean due to the renovations. Located in a quieter and safe area outside of Blue Back Square in the center of town on Loomis drive, this is a perfect area to go for a nice stroll around on the sidewalks if the weather allows it. The nurses working during the week Monday-Friday are wonderful, helpful, and take the time to sit with each family during a visit to give quality updates that are 100% honest on the behaviors and health of the person receiving treatment. On the other hand, I am not so satisfied with the staff on the weekends, not as experienced nurses gather at the front desk on the second floor to «shoot the breeze» and tend to administer slightly more medication in the afternoons to «tame behaviors» when they really may just be looking for a break. I have gone to visit at all times of the day, weekdays to the weekend. I have personally had to comment on the cleanliness of my Dad’s clothes and standard hygiene. I can say with confidence that I am not impressed overall with the care BUT West Hartford Rehab is the only facility that had open space for my Dad when he needed to transfer, and they are able to provide him with the care he ultimately needs. They are able to handle heightened behaviors of lewy body and frontal temporal lobe dementia, unlike many other surrounding facilities that deem this as a liability… unfortunately the cost of healthcare here(depending on your diagnosis) can run up to $ 150,000/year unless you file for title 19 and receive medicaid!
