Frankies is not bad. My biggest knock on it, is the price. WILDEXPENSIVE. They deep fry their hot dogs for a period of time, and then they finish them off on the flat-top grill. Never really seen hot dogs done like this before. But it was pretty good. I got mine with grilled onions, and then just put the ketchup and mustard on myself. The fried dough is really good as well. The Georgia hot was okay, prepared the same way as the hot dogs. The buffalo wings are good too, get the breaded ones, but once again quite expensive. I make a few trips a month. Overall good eats.

Been eating at Frankie’s for years. One of the best places in West Haven for a quick breakfast, lunch and dinner. Way better then Goodies restaurant down the road. Go there and try it! You won’t be disappointed. By the way their seafood is fresh and delish.

This place is cool. Hot dogs galore with all kinds of fried stuff. Do not come here on a diet ha. I ordered ordered a Mexican dog with chili and an American with cheese, steak fries and a drink for 12.00. A great deal. I love the self serve condiment section. Sweet relish, onions, ketchup, mustard etc on this station. The place also serves fast food style breakfast all day. The food was good for what it is. I would come back.

So I haven’t tried all the hot dog places in the greater New Haven yet. And word on the street is there are lots of great places. Thus I will give Frankie’s 4 stars until I make my way to all the other awesome places that serve America’s favorite picnic and stadium snack. After a few visits I can say that the staff is fast. The dogs a crunchy like I like them. All the necessary toppings including a variety of relish. Next time I am going to have a crab cake sandwich or something else really fun.

Came here since I was in the area for business. The service counter and seating area is a bit dated. Ordered a foot long chili hot dog combo with fries and a drink. $ 8 Fries were ordinary. The dog is deep fried then put on the flat top for a minute. Slight crisp outside, soft and tender inside. Served on a tasty split toasted bun. The chili was mild and had the texture that’s been simmering for hours. Very good! Overall, food 4 stars, price and décor 2.5 stars.

I couldn’t use this coupon in this place, they don’t accept it. I will never go back this place. Food is not that good. I did like the service there but the food is really bad. We ordered the seafood combos and foot length sandwich, both of them are not taste.

I love this place. Hands down they have the best burgers. Even though I don’t live in Connecticut, I look forward to a burger with zucchini sticks, every time I visit my mother. My husband enjoys the grilled chicken wrap. My entire family enjoys eating here because they are tasty and quick.

If I can give a 0 star I would. My wife and I went to this place with our daughter for dinner and let me tell you guys, it was one of the worst places we ate. When we walked in there was 7 people behind the counter and not even one welcomed us to the establishment. They just stared while we were looking at the menu. We ordered the fish and chips, ham and cheese wrap with fries and onion rings. The fries were frozen bought from probably stop and shop and underdone. The onion rings were so hard that it almost broke my teeth. The fish was not fish at all just breading. The ham and cheese wrap was soaked with mayonnaise and thick cuts of ham. My wife and I threw the food out and just left. We were so disgusted. It was a miracle we didn’t get sick. This place should be. Closed and condemned. No one go here for anything. Unless you’re a regular and like their food. I haven’t tried their hamburgers but honestly I don’t want to. It was a waste of money and a waste of time being there. Anyone who sees this post don’t this is a fair warning.

Frankies hot dog is THEBEST, in my book. We waited for months to try this location after the one and only location in Florida closed some time ago, and the wait was so worth it. One night stay in West Haven on a recent trip, and we went here twice in the space of a few hours, no questions asked, no need to even think! Why all the love? I lose count. I am a self-service whore, and Frankies has that, and has that PLENTY. And I just loved the old-fashioned, handle-spinning dispensers for toppings like home style relish, raw onion, sweet relish, pickles, and of courses, ketchup and mayo. Their footlong sausage is, I don’t even know for sure how they cook it, but I love that lean, grilled flavour and texture, not to mention the toasted hot bun. PERFECTION. Staff were friendly enough and food came out hot quickly, the menu was huge and varied with all sorts of special deals and combos, at dirt cheap prices. I don’t care what others might say, but this to me is the quintessential all-American dog, if only because Frankies dog was my first ever American hot dog. I wish them well and I hope they last for ever and ever, so we can return and enjoy in the future.

Are you hungover and need some greasy food. Stop by frankies for there delicious food. I absolutely love it here when i want to eat something greasy and that is the truth. I dont think eating here everyday would be ideal for any humans health. Hot dogs are hands down best in the area. Chicken is top notch. It really is just old school style fast food.

Definitely extensive menu. Hot dogs are what I expected. Grilled cheese was very good(yea butter!). Shake was tasty. The chicken Caesar wrap was meh. Definitely go for the dogs or fried stuff. Relish bar a big plus!

Sometimes, a man just needs meat in tube form. Frankie’s is a good place to meet those demands. Hot dogs are fried and placed on toasted buns, delicious. They have a pretty large menu but I wouldn’t stray too far…

Frankie’s is a small, Connecticut-based chain, and this location has been here as long as I can remember. I would echo the other reviews here in saying that nostalgia is certainly part of the charm of this place. But beyond that, I like Frankie’s for three reasons: — They’re best known for their foot-long hot dogs, and I like the self-serve relish(3 varieties) and fresh onion dispensers, allowing you to dress the dogs as you please. — The menu is actually quite broad, encompassing burgers, hot and cold subs, fried seafood, fries and other fried vegetables, and even pasta dinners. Would note that there are more choices here for vegetarians than at most fast food places. — Many items are final-prepared to order, making them hot and fresh when you get them. The items I’ve tried have been pretty solid, and Frankie’s represents a nice change from the fast food standbys.

The burgers are pretty good, as well as the fries. But the employees are the best! There’s Jannet, the manager aka Boss Guy, and Bryan aka Lurch. The place is awesome!!!

So there used to be this place in Stratford called Cricket Drive-In. My dad used to take me there when I was little and get me a hot dog with the works. Throughout my childhood, and up until they closed on Dec. 31st of 2004. They were the best hot dogs I’ve ever had, this place had such a following of people. The day they closed, the line was out door the entire day and people were buying the max that they were allowed to buy. I told you that to tell you this. I’ve searched high and low for a comparable hot dog to Crickets. Frankie’s of West Haven is the only thing that comes close. They are no Cricket dog, but they’ll do.

«The Hot Dog King.» I don’t think Frankie’s calls itself this anymore, but it used to when I was a kid. There is nothing wrong with going to Frankie’s. It’s an old school, fast food, foot-long hot dog joint. I probably love it just because it makes me reminisce… sue me. It still tastes good.
