I have been coming to Woodlawn Bowling for a long time. I remember my kids birthday parties here. This is a family run business and the people who work here are pretty nice and funny. It’s a great alternative to full size bowling for little kids and an alternative from playing video games for the kids and spending too much time on the internet. Just don’t take it too seriously or play with anyone who does and you should be fine. The back area and the bathroom could use a little cleaning up, but other than that I would recommend this place. There aren’t many left like it.

Good fun for the kids. Kind service and reasonable prices. Looking for some good family fun? try duckpin bowling(balls are way lighter).

Owner was very disrespectful and made me feel very uncomfortable. He has a nasty mouth and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anybody with children… I got thrown out because I ordered pizza on my card and not in my cash. I guess that owner gets his cut from local pizza joint. He came up to me and my friend and said«Don’t ever came back here again if you don’t want to follow the rules, you are not welcome» my friend proceeded to say she didn’t appreciate the way she was being talked to and explained how we didn’t know we couldn’t pay with our card” I went to high school with the girl at the front desk(I haven’t been in high school in years) He then said we were on drugs. And no good junkies, and that the women at the front desk said we would Be a problem. He than threw us out. And charged me An extra $ 10… I did pay the extra money because I didnt want any drama. I just wanted to bowl and have some fun. Very disrespected and upset because I used to love to bowl here… :/Please learn how to treat your customers. What kind of man threatens to pull your hair out over a pizza!?! Very, very disappointed… :/

This place is so much fun! Duckpin is a CT thing. Bowling with a small ball that does not have holes. I always thought it was only for kids but not true. they have leagues as well. It’s actually a challenge. And you get three tries per frame. BYOB is so cool. We had a growler from New England Brewing and had a good old time. Very reasonably priced too. It’s 60 years old and still going strong in West Haven!

I went to my nephews 5th birthday party here this past weekend. One of the party attendees said it best, «Mom, this is the best birthday party EVER!» Bob the Bowler was fantastic with the kids. He explained the rules so they’d all understand and had them rolling with laughter when he belted out ‘Happy Birthday.’ Even though the place is a little run down, the smiles all around more than made up for it. We brought glow necklaces for all the kids and Bob handed out glow bracelets… The lights were switched off and the black lights on. It was really cool… lights up and down the lanes, disco ball on the ceiling… so much fun. After the bowling the kids sat down for the pizza from upstairs and they gobbled it up — even the picky eaters! We were fortunate enough to get them to make a 3 foot sub for the adults and even though it wasn’t the best Italian sub ever, it was surprisingly good considering it out outside their normal menu. And I think one of the best parts is the reasonable price! I highly recommend birthday parties here, you and your birthday boy/girl will not be disappointed!

My buddy Bob convinced me to join a league. I was hesitant at first, but no longer. As the strikes poured in, I fell in love. I’ll never go big pin bowling again.

I had my 5th birthday party here, as well as my 21st. I spent that time frame away from duckpin. When me and my buddies walked in during a random blizzard 6 years ago, found that it was BYOB, we never wanted to leave. Bob and the crew make it feel like your own personal hangout. If you’ve never gone duckpin bowling, or the last time was a birthday party when you were 6, stop by Woodlawn. You’ll keep coming back for sure!

Tired of the usual movies and dinner? Load up your cooler with whatever booze you want and roll over to Woodlawn. Bob the owner is always accomodating and the atmosphere here is great. Excellent choice for a kids or adult birthday party, one of my favorite stops.

Had a fantastic experience at Woodlawn for my birthday party. This is a great place to go for bowling and pizza with a big group. Bob, the owner, is flexible and well-organized, and he even gives the group a lesson on how to duckpin bowl at the start of the night. You can order pizza and cheese fries from a pizza joint next door to the alley– they’re cheap and really delicious. I also liked that my group got a little nook to ourselves with a big table and plenty of coat hooks.
