Poor customer service and the food was below average. The flatbread is a nightmare. Spend your money somewhere else! Do not enter.

Always a great neighborhood restaurant. Highly recommended. Food is always consistent… service not always.

Basix is an excellent place for breakfast or brunch. I, personally, love the«power combo» — egg whites, grilled chicken, and a jumbo pancake!(not sure where the pancake fits in this theme, but hey it was awesome, nonetheless).

Amazing! Great place for brunch on a Sunday. The blood orange Mimosa is outstanding. This place can be incredibly busy so expect to wait and remember that its only busy because it is good.

Basix is a great place for a casual date or a low-key hang with friends. The food is great for the price. The tuna tartare is very tasty, as is the margharita pizza with chicken(made with very fresh mozzarella). The portions are small but filling. Inside is a tastefully low-light lounge. The covered patio at Basix is the ideal place to people watch on Santa Monica Boulevard.(Queer Eye for the Straight Guy ‘sculture guru Jai was waiting for friends last time I went.) The Café is a hot-spot for local gay couples. It’s also a fun place to grab brunch on a sunny weekend. Highly recommended as a neighborhood alternative to more corporate establishments.

I don’t know why John H hates ALL of Basix based on his horrific date. That is more about his life, but in L.A., I guess that it’s inevitable that it all goes back to me, me, me, even in an «objective» Unilocal review(*wink*). But I always love John’s reviews. He rocks. Now to the actual place: I think his experience must have been a very strange isolated incident. Basix is just one of those places where you can get decent food for a very reasonable price. I recommend it mostly for breakfast, as it is the cheapest and will guarantee you a seat, if you can get your butt up before10. I used to go here every morning and have coffee and eggs with sausage, sometimes OJ or pancakes, but ALWAYS coffee. The bill always came out to around 10 bucks. Can’t beat that. You can spend that just on a Quad Venti Soy Caramel Frapuccino down the street at Starebucks. The waiters have always been decent to me, and are usual super nice. It’s cute, it’s fun, and it’s the neighborhood non-chain.

I once went on a horrible date to Basix and have never been back. First off he picked me up in his brand new camaro, yes I said CAMARO, and when I said«Dude, righteous» he said«I don’t understand». Then when we got to the restaurant we were seated at a table that had a dying rodent or cat in the bushes next to us. The smell of death was overpowering and my entire night was ruined. Using dead animals as decoration might go well in Silverlake where it’s trendy to be dead, but this was West Hollywood and the only thing dead there are leather pants and Abercrombie gear. The food? who cares, I sat next to a rotting corpse, who cares how the food was. The date? Why are guys so stupid that after a night of dead animals, NO conversation to speak of and blank stares they will pull up to your pad and say«I had a great time, wanna do this again soon?» and you’re like«were we on the same date? because on my planet you and I did NOT connect». He even had the balls to ask me to split the check, hello El Doofo? You asked ME out! boys.

Excellent restaurant. Friendly waiters and waitresses. Great ambiance. Nice music. Great food but I miss their veggie burgers. They were the best.
